- The history of Kamemannen, which is said to be the oldest eyeglass brand in Japan, begins with the plating factory "Kimura Seisakusho", which was established in Fukui City in 1917. After the war, it developed as a glasses factory based in Sabae, and "Kamemannen" was born as its own brand. In 1981, we succeeded in producing eyeglass frames made of durable, light and durable titanium material for the first time in the world, and Sabae's high technology for making eyeglasses became known to the world.
The brand name "Kamemannen" is named after the proverb "Crane is a thousand years and a turtle is a million years" from the idea of the founder Kikujiro Kimura, "I want to make glasses that are durable and can be used habitually for a long time." We have inherited that will and continue to pursue the highest quality eyeglasses that are not only beautiful in design but also carefully worked for long-term patronage.
The most important thing in making eyeglasses is the strong will of the founder, Kikujiro Kimura, to "make eyeglasses that are durable and can be used forever." As a result, Kamemannen glasses use a number of extremely laborious production processes and techniques. For example, Kamemannen glasses do not have many frame colors. This is because we choose surface treatments centered on precious metal plating and highly durable ion plating. Ion plating is a surface treatment with excellent adhesion because it takes time and effort, and it is one of the technologies necessary to achieve the quality we seek.
