Roughly 6 months after an errorless, but maybe not exceptional October 1980 run at the Warfield-Radio City, the GD had an outstanding East Coast Spring 1981 tour with notable shows on May 1st (Hampton), 6th (Nassau), 11th (New Haven)... The video is of very good, for the period, amateur quality.
I added some visual effects on Bird Song, Let it Grow & Terrapin Station ...

Tears, tears and more tears every time I listen to this most beautiful song and Jerry's peak voice. God how can you not love this........
WOW! The boys could bring it down low and quiet when they wanted to...awesome version.
all the years combine. they melt into a dream. pheeewww. nothing deeper than that. ugh. i love you jerry.
So happy I found this. Watched Phil&Bob prep for a quiet ending, and then sensing "No, let's blow this out", from Jerry!
What a fantastic video of one of my favorite Dead tunes..... Jerry got some serious soul....
All the years combine. And melt into a dream. Still brings chills and tears.
fukinmisem!!
And there’s nothing you can hold for very long
Thank you much, one of the best versions I've come across in a while. "Grateful"ly appreciated for sure. Later, Peace.
The guitar take setting flight around the 7 minute marker is world class. It doesn’t get any finer on the guitar. So rich in note.
"Stella Blue" Sunday...⚡🌹⚡🐾
my first show was a couple months later at Alpine. I didn't know the catalogue at the time, but the "Stella Blue" that night stood out to me. I dunno, maybe it's because that's when I got on the bus, but I still say '81 and '82 were outstanding years for the Dead, particularly Jerry's guitar. Most Heads seem to dismiss the early 80's.
One of the greatest popular songs ever written. It should be better known than it is.
So much passion in this one!
Made my day, week and year. Thank you!
A beautiful song from a great year for the dead. They over played a lot of material in 81' but there were some great shows and some great Jerry jams !
Thanks for this one.
wow.I loved seeing this song live. This music will never die...its to perfect...thanks for sharing.
Beautiful
Flowers bloom gloriously in Dead-style during solo ~4:30. Thanks for the great memories. "Gonna make 'em shine!" God bless you!
Thanks for sharing this amazing footage !
Thank you. Hope I can listen to the Dead Forever

Oh my god.
I was in utero a few miles away ...alas..

This is a great Stella Blue, but it is NOT Nassau 1981, find that one and you will see the best Stella Blue ever.
The one from May 8, 1981 that goes into a sugar magnolia? Not better than this kid. This is a refined version of that Jerry really finding those extra notes.
This is NOT 5-13-81. I was there. This is a great version, but it is definitively NOT Friday Night in Nassau. If you can find the real one please post it, but don't publish this incorrectly.
Sorry mate !, This IS May 13th 1981 Providence, and NOT Nassau (if you read the liner notes correctly). But it's not a wrestling match.
i like mate. i'm going to use it.
A beautiful version of one of my favorites, but it's not 5-13-81
+Michael Wofford .come to think of it, I don't think they played stella that night
Wow
