My friend owns this game and ive seen it on TH-cam, but when I played it at his house for the first time my thought was just, "The second I get a computer I'm buying this game," now I own the base game and have 37 mods for it including Iron Front, Ace(you can't not have Ace), DynaSound, CUP, and RHS
With over 2500 hrs in Arma 3 so far I can safely say this is by far the most immersive and impressive modern combat "simulator" available to buy right now. You guys have done a fantastic job supporting the community as well as making it clear that you are in the forefront of Bug tracking and development thanks a lot Bohemia and lets look forward to a prosperous and fun 2015
I wish all the best for those Czech guys at Bohemia Int., and I wish they continue the path they are going, all the way from the Operation Flashpoint!! Thanks for creating such a beautiful sandbox military simulation!!
Before the game was released, BI said they didn't add interiors for armored vehicles because it would hit the game's performance (which of course is total bullshit). So it's either ArmA 1/OFP or use Burnes' tanks which have interiors. ;)
@@_Hotaru__ If you are getting 15 fps you are doing something wrong. Expecting it to get 60 FPS when you have a hundred units on the map isn't realistic, just like how COD/Skyrim would get unusable framerates if you spawned 100 NPCs in next to you.
Malacovics Almost all public servers are low-end and some of you ppl assume that Arma 3 will run well on this? Even with very script heavy gamemodes? definitely not. I hate to say it but some of you are just uninformed and ignorant. Why would you point the finger at Bohemia Interactive even though its 95% not their faul? BTW Bohemia does stress test their server. On the arma 3 reddit, they'll make a post regulary on which server we should join.. These servers are very powerfull and we once had a full 100 man server playing KOTH with silky smooth 60 fps. (It dropped sometimes though.) I would kindly ask to stop making Bohemia responsible for this.
To all, who criticize the performance: the game doesn't need more optimization. The mods do. Try an official gamemode on an official server. It's working perfectly. Bohemia can't optimize the game to every custom-made mission. It's the creators' job.
This game / realistic war simulator is exceptional. I remember playing the very first Arma years ago and it is clear how Arma has evolved and maintained true to its core throughout time. I am reletively new to Arma 3 since I purchased it about a couple of months back now but I can see myself plough in alot of hours into this game. Excellent work Bohemia and to the community. You should finally add highly anticipated 34th feature. The optimisation! First time in series history. When You do that, please add some minor things like tactical reload, or grenade cooking, You are creating a mil sim after all.
***** It means faster reload performed with some bullets still present in your current magazine. It also gives You one extra bullet in rifle - the one that stayed in the barrel.

mnnrlfs Most people who blame arma 3 for bad performance in a nutshell. They just don't know that the editor does not restrict people on how many scripts they can run or how many enemies they can place. Also bad server hosters might cause additional lag.
For all guys (and girls for christ sake) that complain about the performance - just consider the following: - ArmA3 is a military simulation, if you play with more then 100 AI/Players and over 2500m of Viewdistance you have to get a good PC that's a fact. - The performance on Multiplayer mostly depends on the server itself. You can have a GTX Titan/AMD 290X2 and play on only 20fps because the server you are playing on is just overloaded. Of course the mission/mods that are played also effect the performance in a big way, and that's something BI can't simply controll/optimise as well as their own content. - Try LAN or local/offline to get the real performance of ArmA 3! Of course as I mentioned in my first point it won't be as perfect as for example Battlefield 3/4 but for what the engine processes it is a pretty great performance. I hope this cleared some stuff up,@Devs great work - keep on doing it!
After so many years I am still in love with this game. I hope you guys can add vr support, I know the massive button scheme wouldn't work with the vive but I believe you'll figure it out !!
Auto dikos First person is only the default view, you can quickly cycle through 1st and 3rd person with Enter key. You also have Tac View that enables you to control units like in an RTS.

I think out of everything in ArmA, the best part about it is the community, we have taken a semi futuristic military combat game, and turned it into world war 2(iron front), Vietnam(Unsung), modern day, (CUP and RHS), and many more I don't know the mod name of to list. I've seen war hammer 40k, star wars, and Zulu war operations. This community has lasted all these years and are still updating and making new content. The other thing I find great about ArmA is how smooth it is, I have a low end Lenovo S145 and besides some lag spikes with mods my game runs very smooth for 4gb of ram, right now I'm just browsing TH-cam while my mods update.
I've never found a game as beautiful and fun as Arma 3 everything is great! The only thing that is annoying is the frames in multiplayer this is the only issue and a massive one unfortunately. I don't know if you developpers are working on it but it would be awesome if you could! Thanks a lot for this beauty of a game and have a good one!

Well done Bohemia, I for one congratulate you on your 14 year quest, I've been an avid fan, playing right from the beginning, Op Flash. I just want to thank you guys for all the hard work you've done and yet to do, You'll always get people complaining about the "performance" and other issues that doesn't suit their needs, they just need to understand a bit more about the game...and how extremely technical it is...and not some silly linear game that I expect most of them are used too. Keep on shining guys. From an avid fan.

I don't get the problem you people (in the comments) have with ArmA3's performance... I have an 660ti (2gb Vram) and an i3770k @ 4GHz, 8gb ddr3 Ram @2000MHz I run the game at high with 60+ fps in singleplayer and on multiplayer servers up to 30 people I am constantly over 40fps...
to everyone complaining about the performance hey guys how about you get a gaming pc and stop using your grandmother's laptop :^) edit: seriously though, for what it is, the amount of systems in play at any given time on such a huge, destructible map is so immense that we all should be thankful to bohemia for actually even making this playable at all. (to give you a rough idea, a single bullet fired has more math and calculations being done to it than an entire bf4 server.) and yes, you do need at least a good i5 and a gtx 640 or something to run this properly. personally i have a i7 16gb ram and a gtx 650 ti and i can run this just fine on high at 900p with stable framerates even on multiplayer. so there's that.
Meridius I have built my PC and runs ultra settings like a dream (even with fraps)! When you start messing with mods thats when it might bring the frames down! I have youtube video's using fraps ... so clearly the first comment must relate to something or upgrade your PC if your have issues!

YES! ~20-30 frames average (max settings, 1080 native no sampling, reasonable AA, no FXAA cause obvious troll is obvious, 4k draw distance, a singleplayer scenario with ~40 AI soldiers trying desperately to figure out how to use cover) sure i can reach 150+ frames, when nothings going on, im sure doing nothing at 150+ frames is very enjoyable to some people, but not to people who actually want to play ARMA.

You know nothing about being an 'ArmA FanBoy' because if you did you would know I enjoy arma but my entire youtube and would be playing it 24/7 would be a 'FanBoy' (We are not 12, unless you are?) As far as your specs go, pretty decent but my computer can handle more than that as i average 50-60 fames and 30-40 (with fraps) and ULTRA everything even on 8x .... You fail to understand however the ddifference between using AMD cards to NVidia cards when it comes to ArmA 3 and most! I am running GTX 970 Super clocked edition with runs very nice! (Full specs on my channel description). I run an AMD 8 core Black edition which is brilliant for a lot of games but for that extra boost Nvidia plays better with ArmA. Just because your card is good doesn't mean it works well with this game!
Google allows naughty words like Fuck and Shit Depends what you play it on otherwise I wouldn't the frames I do get. A lot of games you can say are terribly optimized which could well be but people say that if they are running something where they cant max the bugga out!
Everything that i actually want is fine CPU usage on AMD FX-8320 CPU (at least 8 core usage), framerate is creeping me out, and i will love this game even more.
Have you hired NASA's supercomputer to render this? It's so smooth. Maybe sacrificed some souls? Goats? You really gotta let me in on this guys, I want to run the game like the last sequence with the arty shell too, without stutters and freezes and over 12 fps :(((( (All that aside, A grade job BI, the game is getting better and better by the day. i love arma 3 but i'm not fan of some server performance. But all in all it's one of if not the best game i've played, it feels good, it feels "normal" it feels good. Nice vid. Currently at 700 hours on A3
I just hope we get female civillians in the future, but mostly me and lot of my friends want is the Save/Load feature in Multiplayer. Something like in ArmA 2 where you could make your own coop campaign.
Pappi_man that's all you need is to save the mission. You can load it back in from where you started and continue it. Or you can use ALiVE on your server and use the persistence feature it has. When log back onto server you'll spawn back in where you were with the same gear, health, etc... You may have to do some server config with the ALiVE server file but we do that all the time at USSOCOM with our persistent campaigns.
+sever gun I don't think the feminazis would be able to do anything because if that was the case then any movie or other game that has a female dying would/should have been sued. For example, you (or anybody) play GTA or even say DayZ as a female character and get killed......no lawsuit. We need female civilians in A3. I'd also like to see children civilians for a complete simulation but that could and probably would cause issues. It would just take some dumbass to make a mission or record a video of a player going through and killing children and that would be it. But I see nothing wrong with adding female civilians. We had them in A2.
Loving the updates guys! Keep the good work up. My one gripe is when you introduced the firing from vehicles, you reworked the passenger system for the MH-9 Hummingbird. In multiplayer, sometimes players cannot board the helicopter regardless of if they own the DLC or not. You'll drop off some guys, then try and pick up some new players and they just won't have any option whatsoever to get in. Please please take a look into this as I am a big helicopter flyer in ArmA 3, and it's really ruining the experience for me :-( Here's my feedback tracker link: feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=21877
No idea about BIS' proper marketing knowledge, but this trailer should've been released ~2 years ago. Explaining why Arma is special among endless military shooter clones is essential.
Bohemia does a good job of keeping their projects a secret untill the are just about to release them. Every time I find my self anxiously awaiting the next update such as the Marksman DLC and I look for more information, I rarely find any. I love the updates. Zeus is a lot of fun to play with and I like flying the helicopter with the advanced flight model every now and again just to see how far I get before I land again, usually in an explosion.
1 km² Battlefield map, They claimed it to be Next-Gen FPS and Massive-Scale fights. Meanwhile ARMA3 had 270 km² map and 200-player sever. Of course, ARMA3 is 2014 game! I'm wondering how the hell they called Battlefield a Next-Gen FPS.
These guys give the players a lot of free stuff. They listen to the demands/requests of the community. Even though some requests may not be implanted or answered, they still try to listen. You won't see huge updates that add free features like new flight dynamics and firing from vehicles in games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Though you may see it in Team Fortress 2. Either way, great developers. AND THEIR ADDING A 3D EDITOR!
The one thing I'd like to see changed on the next Arma is the fatigue system. It's incredibly annoying that a 50m jog makes the player incapable of hitting anything with his rifle.
Now just make it so that our gameplay can be as fluid as shown in this video! ;D Other than that I can never get more than 25 fps while in cities, especially in combat scenarios this game is absolutely fantastic! The immersion is great and different situations can suck you up in the game entirely making you scream when dying up to yelling some warcry when sniping someone on a 1000 meters. It can sure use alot more features and content, and as far as I know we will get alot more but even then with what we have now this game is just plain awesome.
Allrighty, you boys convinced me, next time when there is a sale on Arma 3 im gonna buy it! (I don't have 44,95$ to spend on a video game but when it is arround 50% off I can)

Concerning performance.
Performance on private servers, e.g clans = amazing
Performance on most public server = shit
Maybe cuz most of public servers hosted on cheap servers with traffic limits

Servers do have a major impact on eprformance, no excuse however for using 40% of GPU and 30% CPU and getting only 30fps

Game runs 45-60 fps for me with everything on Ultra and has since Alpha! Good video!
i have gtx 760.i5 3.2 ghz 8 ram and the game runs on 30 fps when i set the settings on high

Well done Bohemia, I for one congratulate you on your 14 year quest, I've been an avid fan, playing right from the beginning, Op Flash.
I just want to thank you guys for all the hard work you've done and yet to do, You'll always get people complaining about the "performance" and other issues that doesn't suit their needs, they just need to understand a bit more about the game...and how extremely technical it is...and not some silly linear game that I expect most of them are used too.

I don't get the problem you people (in the comments) have with ArmA3's performance...
I have an 660ti (2gb Vram) and an i3770k @ 4GHz, 8gb ddr3 Ram @2000MHz
I run the game at high with 60+ fps in singleplayer and on multiplayer servers up to 30 people I am constantly over 40fps...

edit: seriously though, for what it is, the amount of systems in play at any given time on such a huge, destructible map is so immense that we all should be thankful to bohemia for actually even making this playable at all. (to give you a rough idea, a single bullet fired has more math and calculations being done to it than an entire bf4 server.)
and yes, you do need at least a good i5 and a gtx 640 or something to run this properly.
personally i have a i7 16gb ram and a gtx 650 ti and i can run this just fine on high at 900p with stable framerates even on multiplayer. so there's that.
Meridius I have built my PC and runs ultra settings like a dream (even with fraps)! When you start messing with mods thats when it might bring the frames down! I have youtube video's using fraps ... so clearly the first comment must relate to something or upgrade your PC if your have issues!

sure i can reach 150+ frames, when nothings going on, im sure doing nothing at 150+ frames is very enjoyable to some people, but not to people who actually want to play ARMA.
Smokey Nope Its a shame really. You know nothing about being an 'ArmA FanBoy' because if you did you would know I enjoy arma but my entire youtube and would be playing it 24/7 would be a 'FanBoy' (We are not 12, unless you are?)
As far as your specs go, pretty decent but my computer can handle more than that as i average 50-60 fames and 30-40 (with fraps) and ULTRA everything even on 8x ....
You fail to understand however the ddifference between using AMD cards to NVidia cards when it comes to ArmA 3 and most! I am running GTX 970 Super clocked edition with runs very nice! (Full specs on my channel description). I run an AMD 8 core Black edition which is brilliant for a lot of games but for that extra boost Nvidia plays better with ArmA. Just because your card is good doesn't mean it works well with this game!
Google allows naughty words like Fuck and Shit Depends what you play it on otherwise I wouldn't the frames I do get. A lot of games you can say are terribly optimized which could well be but people say that if they are running something where they cant max the bugga out!
Everything that i actually want is fine CPU usage on AMD FX-8320 CPU (at least 8 core usage), framerate is creeping me out, and i will love this game even more.

Have you hired NASA's supercomputer to render this? It's so smooth. Maybe sacrificed some souls? Goats? You really gotta let me in on this guys, I want to run the game like the last sequence with the arty shell too, without stutters and freezes and over 12 fps :((((

Um, I play smoothly on 4 gb of ram and an A6 processor, just lower your graphic settings and make a fun mission or skirmish in Eden Editor kill joy

i love arma 3 but i'm not fan of some server performance. But all in all it's one of if not the best game i've played, it feels good, it feels "normal" it feels good. Nice vid. Currently at 700 hours on A3
I just hope we get female civillians in the future, but mostly me and lot of my friends want is the Save/Load feature in Multiplayer. Something like in ArmA 2 where you could make your own coop campaign.

I do have it, but I don't remember it having proper Save/Load feature in multiplayer. It just saves the mission.
Pappi_man that's all you need is to save the mission. You can load it back in from where you started and continue it. Or you can use ALiVE on your server and use the persistence feature it has. When log back onto server you'll spawn back in where you were with the same gear, health, etc... You may have to do some server config with the ALiVE server file but we do that all the time at USSOCOM with our persistent campaigns.
+sever gun I don't think the feminazis would be able to do anything because if that was the case then any movie or other game that has a female dying would/should have been sued. For example, you (or anybody) play GTA or even say DayZ as a female character and get killed......no lawsuit. We need female civilians in A3. I'd also like to see children civilians for a complete simulation but that could and probably would cause issues. It would just take some dumbass to make a mission or record a video of a player going through and killing children and that would be it. But I see nothing wrong with adding female civilians. We had them in A2.
Loving the updates guys! Keep the good work up.
My one gripe is when you introduced the firing from vehicles, you reworked the passenger system for the MH-9 Hummingbird. In multiplayer, sometimes players cannot board the helicopter regardless of if they own the DLC or not. You'll drop off some guys, then try and pick up some new players and they just won't have any option whatsoever to get in.
Please please take a look into this as I am a big helicopter flyer in ArmA 3, and it's really ruining the experience for me :-(

For what it is, this title is amazing.
Bohemia does a good job of keeping their projects a secret untill the are just about to release them. Every time I find my self anxiously awaiting the next update such as the Marksman DLC and I look for more information, I rarely find any. I love the updates. Zeus is a lot of fun to play with and I like flying the helicopter with the advanced flight model every now and again just to see how far I get before I land again, usually in an explosion.
For me, this is even today the best shooter xD
Just got a new card and trying it out after being away since launch, so very good.
1 km² Battlefield map, They claimed it to be Next-Gen FPS and Massive-Scale fights.
Meanwhile ARMA3 had 270 km² map and 200-player sever.
Of course, ARMA3 is 2014 game!
I'm wondering how the hell they called Battlefield a Next-Gen FPS.

These guys give the players a lot of free stuff. They listen to the demands/requests of the community. Even though some requests may not be implanted or answered, they still try to listen. You won't see huge updates that add free features like new flight dynamics and firing from vehicles in games like Call of Duty or Battlefield.
Though you may see it in Team Fortress 2.
Either way, great developers.

The one thing I'd like to see changed on the next Arma is the fatigue system. It's incredibly annoying that a 50m jog makes the player incapable of hitting anything with his rifle.
Now just make it so that our gameplay can be as fluid as shown in this video! ;D Other than that I can never get more than 25 fps while in cities, especially in combat scenarios this game is absolutely fantastic! The immersion is great and different situations can suck you up in the game entirely making you scream when dying up to yelling some warcry when sniping someone on a 1000 meters.
It can sure use alot more features and content, and as far as I know we will get alot more but even then with what we have now this game is just plain awesome.
God i love this game. 3000 Hours in.
