Exploring Mason Bay Campground: A Scenic LOW-COST Camping Spot in South West Australia

Are you searching for another affordable and picturesque camping spot in the South West of Australia?
Join us in this episode as we bid farewell to our last campsite at Fitzgerald River National Park and venture towards the charming town of Hopetoun were we replenish water for our caravan water tanks.
Our next destination is the beautiful Mason Bay, a low-cost campsite that can be booked through the Ravensthorpe Shire's website.

With 34 spacious sites, this beachfront campground is nestled within the stunning Fitzgerald Biosphere Coast region.
Situated 38km east of Hopetoun, Mason Bay offers a family and pet-friendly environment surrounded by bushland.
To reach the campground, we took the scenic Southern Ocean Road, which provides breathtaking views of the Southern Ocean from various lookouts along the way.
While the road is sealed up to 12 Mile beach, the remaining 2WD unsealed section leads you directly to the campground.
At just $19 per night, Mason Bay is an affordable option that allowed us to explore nearby attractions such as Point Powell and Starvation Bay Campground, both just a short drive away.
But beware of our unexpected mishaps whilst in transit to camp.
We learnt a very valuable lesson after we left the water pumps on in the van during transit and the vibrations on the road into camp the sink tap came on ever so slightly but enough to fill the sink up and spill all throughout the van.
As this has never happened to us before you could imagine we panicked dropping everything to get the water out as quickly as possible when we arrived to camp.
Luckily we had the heater in the van as we turned that on for a while as it was quite a cool day and we needed to get it dried out as quickly as possible so we could get on with our time here.
Despite the minor setback, we managed to salvage our adventure and enjoy a cozy evening by our very first fire on our ‪@darcheoutdoorgear‬ fire pit after being on the road now for five weeks.
Savoring a delicious meal which consisted of sausages, T-bone steaks, jacket potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner which was the best right under the stars.

It really is a spectacular area down here so capturing footage makes it easier but unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best but you definitely can’t have your cake and eat it on the road hey.
Simply love our fire pit 🔥cooks up a great feed everytime..
