- In this video, I'm spring cleaning and decluttering my "minimalist" makeup collection with my May 2019 updated makeup collection. I have a relatively minimalist makeup collection (and I'm doing a 2019 Project Pan, yay!), but this is a Konmari-Method-inspired makeup organization and declutter!

I think you should really get rid of things you don't like even if it's in your project pan because while you're trying to use up things you don't like the ones you love are getting older so you should enjoy them instead 😊

Andželika Tauterytė ive yet to pan anything in my project pans. I have decluttered a lot because I realize what I don’t like by using it in the product.
Yeah, that was dumb, the point of project pan is to remind yourself how much you love something when you have too many things, not force yourself to pan something you dislike
So true!
If you dread using it get rid of it. If you can make it work and don't mind using it pan it esp if you don't have another one open or HG in your current makeup. If you have ones you are getting sick of that you are panning give yourself a break for a week or change ypur PP rules so you only have to use your PP stuff for half the days you wear makeup etc.
These are sort of what I do. If I don't mind it and no one I know wants it then I try to PP it in the way I suggested.
When you to the lip products I went "Oh it me." 🤣 Well done on the declutter. I try to do it once a season and I've got 2 friends who basically wait for me to haul stuff over to them.

Thanks so much, Ashley! It actually has a little coin in it with a panda on it. I got it from a garage sale, no joke 😂 but it’s real gold, so that’s a plus! I just googled “panda coin ring” and saw a ton of similar ones, so you could try that :) hope that helps!
I’ve never bought a high end setting powder because I couldn’t justify the price. I use a drugstore setting power and I never see any use. So I probably could afford a high end one with the tiny amount I use.
That's exactly how I feel! If I buy one Laura Mercier translucent powder, it lasts me for about a year, if not more. Definitely worth it :) what's your favorite setting powder as of now?

Neelou Goodarzi every moment of this makes me realize I’m not alone thank you...here I am putting myself on a makeup diet-only allowing myself to purchase replacements for now. Then I see some of your palettes and think ‘I’d use that...” the struggle is so real lol 😂
😂😂😂 it’s so real!!! I’ve honestly banned myself from buying any more blushes or palettes and whatnot. If we take into account how long it takes to use them up, we’d probably never buy another LOL. How long are you on the makeup diet?

Actually there are multiple definitions and it depends which "branch"/ type of minimalism someone subscribes to.
Minimalism can mean only things that bring you joy, only the bare essentials, A point of minimal items that someone feels comfortable with and are not overwhelmed by their belongings etc.
I mean a minimalist who subscribes to essentialism (only what one actually needs) could see makeup as completely superfluous.
Actually there are multiple definitions and it depends which "branch"/ type of minimalism someone subscribes to.
Minimalism can mean only things that bring you joy, only the bare essentials, A point of minimal items that someone feels comfortable with and are not overwhelmed by their belongings etc.
I mean a minimalist who subscribes to essentialism (only what one actually needs) could see makeup as completely superfluous.

You did great for the size of collection you have. I can't believe you only have 2 bronzers, how can you be on YT?
I'm gonna say a couple of somewhat contradictory things though. I think most, if not all, "jewel" tones compliment your skintone. You might not feel comfortable in all of them, but I honestly think you'd look awesome in all of the bright lippies. But makeup is about feelings, so I'm glad you got rid of the ones you didn't love. Furthermore, if you don't like something anymore, why force it? It's fun to challenge yourself to a project pan, but time is one of the most precious commodities, so why not use it only on things/experiences you love when you have that freedom? IMO it's ok to change the project pan choices if you realize it doesn't fit your preferences anymore. My $0.02 🤷🏻♀️ You do you! 😄🤗
😂😂😂😂😂 CALLIN’ ME OUT. It’s what I need. I appreciate you ❤️🤣 my Clinique blush is so gross. It’s mostly old dust that doesn’t even wipe off anymore, hence why it’s in my project pan.
But you’re right! I think it’s more of me being color shy than the colors not working for me. I’m going to do a 30-day lip challenge soon where I wear a different lippie every day, so I’m hoping that’ll push me out of my comfort zone to try more of those jewel tones!

@@NeelouGoodarzi A 30 day lip challenge is great to do when you have products you don't 100% for sure know how you feel about stuff.
Also if yoi want to become more comfortable in bold and/ or dark colors I challenge you to do a 2 week or 30 day challenge of bold lips.

Omg, you are sooooo not alone! Do you have any highlighter faves that are more subtle? After this video, I finally accepted that I don’t like fake lashes on me at all. But I still love a good subtle, everyday highlight 😜
I use the shade "Satin Sheets" from the Chocolate Bon Bons palette, it's also great for me because I don't like glittery highlighters either and it comes in a bigger pan than the other shades

If you don't like something and it is in your project pan, you shouldn't force yourself to keep it and use it, it is a waste, coz someone else might really like it. So if you don't like it you should declutter it even if it is in your project pan and even if it was expensive. It obviously is your choice, but this is my opinion.
I love the trestique lip balm (the pencil packaging) it's my holy grail. I think you got a bad batch 🙁
i totally agree on the amuse bouche color thing. I found my perfect color sweet cream, finished one and wanted to buy something new. But I ended up with the same one cuz somehow there’s nothing else in that line works out with me, which is very uncommon. Glad to hear your perspective as well
Right?! It’s so odd but so true! My favorite nude from them is Honeycomb, and my favorite “my lips but better” shade is Date. I’ll have to try out sweet cream! 💕
Neelou Goodarzi Haha by the way I love the way you were presenting your makeup. The layout and lighting and everything is just such a pleasure to look at.
Sweet cream is nothing too special, it’s pinkish coral or corally pink but somehow it doesn’t seem to have a big ego and always gives me a very complete look every time when I run out of ideas if you know what I mean by that. It doesn’t hurt to try it next time when you hit Sephora :) I’ll definitely try honeycomb and date. Thanks for the new ideas!
Just be careful about expiration dates of your products please. We don't want you to get any kind of irritation.
I would deffinitely put those reds on my lips in natural light and see which one is the most flattering for my skin tone! Comfort is also important factor. If this fails I would just keep everything. I am "one of" minimalist when it comes to make up (one mascara, one concealer etc.) except for 3 ALMOST identical highlighters ;) (hey, they all have different finish!)
That’s a great idea! I’ll def do the natural light thing and take pictures so I can choose a few to keep. I feel ya about the “one” product. That’s how I used to be about my everyday products like concealer, and now I have too many 🤦🏻♀️ thanks for watching!!

Haha don’t worry, that’s why I said there’s a different “minimalist” for everyone! Or sometimes, no minimalism at all. I just get really stressed when I have stuff that’s not being used lol

minimalism is subjective it's not cookie cut n there's no "one way" to be minimalist she's clearly not a 5 shirts 2 pants minimalist 😒
Agreed, Ashley! This initial video was kind of my first foray into wanting to become MORE minimalist with my makeup. I just did another declutter recently where I got rid of even more stuff. So it's a slow process. I guarantee you I will never be a one-lipstick minimalist LOL. Thanks so much for watching!

I loved that Model Co eye shadow palette. It was beautiful. Lipsticks are my weakness, if you can’t find a home for the ones you want to get rid of, I’ll take them.

Side thought you could post stuff on Mercari, Poshmark, FB market place etc. Even if you don't end up selling it through a particular site it would create a site where everyone could see and choose products, you could set a wanted price and it would be one central place to communicate.
