Monarch butterfly emerging time lapse

  • Monarch butterfly emerging.
    Filmed by Neil Bromhall.
This sequences was filmed in my studio where I can control the lighting, temperature and humidity.
Monarch butterfly, Danaus plexippus, emerging time lapse. I think this his is a male butterfly emerging but some experts say it's female yet others say it's male. I've been advised that it's male because you can see the scent gland on its wing. A signal that the butterfly is about to emerge is when the pupa case clears to reveal the butterfly within.
The butterfly soon emerges and usually hanging on to the pupa skin. The newly emerged butterfly pumps its wings to make them expand.
It takes several hours before the wings expand and dry.

Ive been rescuing & hand raising Monarchs since childhood. Each hatching & birth of new life is just as exciting to celebrate. I Love releasing them after their wings dry, watching them flutter & float off.
Ive never grown tired of it. Butterflies are so very Beautiful.

That’s awesome! I learned about butterflies and how to raise them when I read some articles about pollinators, because I planted a bunch of flower gardens and never knew much about insects. But now , I’ve taught myself everything I can learn from the internet to my daughters home counselor that is also an entomologist. As soon as I started learning. I immediately took my daughter outside and taught her everything I know and now she’s teaching me. Most importantly I taught her to handle bugs all the time with zero fear, because I was taught to be afraid of them and I regret that way of life of us teaching kids to be afraid of bugs. How did you start raising butterflies? Did a parent or teacher or neighbor show you?
You’re blessed to have learned so young. I wish I learned young. I’ve lost out on so much. Until now and my daughter isn’t afraid of bugs at all and that’s the way every child should be taught if we want nature to survive. We need to stop teaching kids to kill every bug they see. Except for the invasive ones destroying everything here. Thank you for raising monarchs. Now I am doing swallowtails and fritillary, but it’s been a slow year for fritillaries which makes me nervous. I can’t wait to add more host plants to my gardens next spring for every variety we have in New Jersey.

Just in case anyone is wondering, the music played in this video is Mozart's, "A Little Night Music." It is usually listed in German, so not too many know what it means. My dad is German, and he studied music, and if it weren't for him telling me, I doubt that I would ever have known what the German title of this piece of music is, how to pronounce it, or what it meant.

For everyone who thonks stuff like this "just happens" without any kind of miraculous design, i am befuddled by you. It is by absolutely no coincidence that a fat little worm made a cocoon around himself, liquefied into goop, then simply by chance, turned into a whole different, breathtakingly beautiful creature.

Firstly, butterflies don't make caccoons. They make a chrysalis. Moths make caccoons. Secondly, they don't make the chrysalis. They split their skin (starting with the head capsule) and the chrysalis is under the skin.

Hope you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and if you don’t, please don’t wait around any longer. We’re quickly running out of time. Only Jesus saves and flying to Heaven with Him will be the biggest trip of your life. Take a good look at the world around you right now. Normal as we knew it is not coming back. Check out John 3:16, John 14:6 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. God bless you and I hope to see you in Heaven one day. ❤️

M Lamber This is Too Much To Read

    • @mlamber7780
      @mlamber7780 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

M7MD gaming Well, those are only short selections / quotes from the Bible and not entire chapters or books. Anyway, in John 3:16 Jesus says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
You see, once you believe that Christ died for your sins just like the Bible says, that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day then you are born again spiritually. So you can accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior right now even if you don’t read those passages in the Bible. I just told you about those passages so you can investigate the truth for yourself. The whole point of salvation in Jesus is that you believe what’s I just explained which comes from
1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Salvation is that simple because God knows our hearts and knows when we’re sincere when we talk / pray to him. I was eleven years old when I got saved and didn’t even own a Bible at that time but believe me, once I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior my life was instantly transformed in the most amazing way. You see, first we are reborn spiritually which then leads to a new way of living or outlook on life. Then when we leave this world, we will also have eternal life with Jesus in Heaven. Accepting Jesus as your Savior is the greatest decision you’ll ever make in your life. Heaven and Hell are real places but sadly most people choose not to believe that and live just for the thrill of the moment or whatever they can get out of this life. But take a good hard look at the world around you right now. Normal as we knew it is not coming back. How do I know? The Bible gives us plenty of warnings about what will happen at the End of the Age before Jesus comes back. It’s found in Matthew 24:7 and others passages in the Bible. To summarize, it warns of wars, famines and earthquakes in various places and calls these events birth pains. Don’t be left behind! The Rapture of the true church / believers in Christ is a real event and I hope and pray that you accept Jesus now. People can still get saved after the Rapture but there’s going to be a lot of pain and suffering for those left behind and it will most likely cost them their lives too. Life is not a joke or a video game. Life is a spiritual journey and has eternal consequences. Today you can read this message but how much longer will we even have access to the Internet? I took the time to write all this because I care about where you will spend eternity. And think about this: if Hell was not a real place then why did Jesus bother to suffer and die such a horrible way on the cross for anyone who is willing to accept him? That’s not something they’ll talk about on the main stream media. They just talk about this cv, which is real and most likely a man made disease, but people are getting more and more fearful now because of how quickly it’s spreading and that’s all the media is doing - fear mongering. But God has not given us a spirit of fear because once we’re born again we know that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. He will come back for us at just the right time. Listen, I know I’m telling you a lot here and your head is spinning right now but I’m trying to warn as many people as I can of what’s coming. At this moment, the Holy Spirit prompted me to share the salvation message with you. While there’s life, there’s hope. Anyway, life is like a vapor - here today and gone tomorrow but where we will spend eternity now that’s our personal choice. Choose wisely. God bless you. I hope to see you in Heaven one day. ❤️

    Hi,
I did not get the chance to see how caterpillar turn into a cocoon then into a beautiful butterfly.
In my garden I saw a butterfly lays its eggs at the Back side of the leaf of some plantes.
The colour of the eggs was yellow and very tiny.
After few days they hatch and get out of this eggs very small larvas and multi colours.immediately they start eating and eating then they leave holes on the leaves.
Few days later they start growing and changing its leather many times until they become a full caterpillar.
Helas! I did not succeed in seeing them changing into cocoon when they begin turning around themselves with silk .
Thanks a lot for your nice video about butterfly.

I hatched 3 in my house and held them on my hand while they dried their wings. you left out one minor detail about the event. butterflies have to poop out all the liquid in them so they can fly. they poop for about 3-4 hours. sometimes they poop longer or try to fly early. one of my monarchs tried to fly early, and couldnt, so i held her until she was light enough to fly.

Last summer I raised about 100 monarch caterpillars that I'd taken in and like 2 of them were completely fine until it was time to emerge from their cocoon and they were stuck inside. Does this means the humidity was too low or something?

Hi there! Great video! I'm working on a film about personal transformation and this would be a great metaphor for it: may I use a part of your video in my film? Happy to attribute the source in the credits/anything else required. Many thanks!

Subuddh Parekh The greatest personal transformation comes only by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior yet, please read the following passages in the Bible with an open mind and Jesus will personally reveal Himself to you and transform your life: John 3:16, John 14:6, and
1 Corinthians 15:1-4. The world is quickly changing all around us and normal as we knew is not coming back. Put your full faith in Jesus Christ right now. God bless you. I hope to see you in Heaven one day. ❤️

HI Baa, I make my living from licensing my work. Can you kindly email me with some details about your project. Unfortunately because of the time and expensive equipment involved, I can't allow you to use it for free. Best wishes neil.bromhall@gmail.com

Hi Kayla, Once the butterfly started to emerge and flying off was about 4 hours, but that was in my studio. It might be quicker out in the wild. Best wishes Neil

In Hawaii they eat the leaves of the Crown Flower. We have the orange and also an indigenous white Monarch butterfly. I found another hanging chrysalis this morning and I am taking photos of it emerging as I write this reply. Spectacular!

Caterpillars need milkweed, preferably native to your area; butterflies will have favs, but flowers! & they’ll lay eggs on milkweed
