Hey guys, great summary of WA, we are just back in Vic after our WA lap and agree on Karijini as one of our best experiences.. enjoy SA, loads to see!!
What an awesome wrap-up of WA! So much useful info. Well done Brett & Mel, thank you! 🎉 Condolences Mel on the loss of your grandmother 🙏 Looking forward to the next video. Safe travels guys, see you next week. Lyn ❤
I'm a West Ozzie and I know exactly what you mean. Caravan parks and paid camping areas are a rip off. Stuff you have to buy does cost more due to the distance it has to be transported and, it gets worse when you think most of it comes from the east coast. Postage ? here's an example. I needed a part for my Nissan Navara, it had to come from QLD. I asked for "Express Postage" and it took 11 calendar days to get here 😂 Austpost asked me if I was happy with the delivery, I can't repeat what I told them. That's life in Wait Awhile LOL
Yup, it doesn't have those sayings for no reason. As for the price of accommodation, people will keep coming and paying it so it won't change. If we come back, it will be for a shorter period purely because the cost is prohibitive.
Hi guys, Chappy here. As a born and bred sandgroper it's actually very shocking to hear your perspectives on Wait Awhile (WA) I had no idea how hard it is to travel around our state. I'm definitely frustrated but also motivated to start making some noise about bringing some change. But still glad you were able to enjoy a good deal of our wonderfull half of OZ. Loving the content and the journey.😁😁
Thanks mate, its an incredible state, there is definitely room for improvement on the whole booking situation but there is also a supply and demand issue and I can't see how that's ever going to get better with population increase.
Hmmmm... Yep great review, keep on scaring the Eastern seagulls away and leave WA for those of us that appreciate it. Remember those vast distances you were chatting about... yes that's why the post is slow, the produce costs more and services are stretched. Remember all those places where you stayed for free or very little cost, They do actually cost someone to maintain, but hey don't worry too much about that.
In some places sure, I think we do a good job of finding cheaper options and sharing that info with others. But in the South West there's almost nothing, and those stations that want fancy Caravan Park rates for their patch of dirt own a lot of the coastline of WA.
Great video and best wishes for your SA adventures. Looking forward to your new episodes. Some sad new on Albert Tognilini… 4 weeks ago campers left without properly putting out their campfire. We had to evacuate … developed into a significant fire and it’s no longer on wiki.
That's sad to hear... There is always someone who ruins it for everyone and its incredibly frustrating. We always put a tub to catch grey water and use it to put out our fires, its just common sense, but also in saying that, the amount of poor fire management (amongst other crappy behaviors) we have witnessed on the road is concerning...
Hey Mel and Brett, wow, what a fabulous wrap-up of your epic time in WA! 👏 You guys could seriously be WA Ambassadors with all the incredible information and vlogs you’ve produced. Once again, great information and lots of tips and tricks for anyone wanting to tour WA! 👍 Mel, I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother’s passing 🙁 Looking forward to the next vlog. Take care and stay safe. Kind regards, Corrie
Mel, I am sorry for your and your family's loss. May you hold dear to your heart your memories of your precious gran. Re: the rest of the video, as one of your subscribers and a West Aussie currently in Qld as part of our 'lap', I feel gutted by some of your comments. Yes, the wind is an issue. We cannot do anything about that, I'm afraid. It can take weeks sometimes for shipments and mail to get to WA, believe it or not. This year, I have posted mail (via Aust Post) in NSW only to have it go via Vic, SA, then WA. Another (very important) letter I posted in NSW, arrived in WA two weeks AFTER I flew back home following my brother's sudden passing! A third article posted 3 mths ago in Qld, went via NSW, Vic, SA, then finally to WA. The joys of Australia Post!!! And these were all to Perth destinations , not regional areas. Re: the meds issue. We were knocked back in Tassie with some of my husband's scripts from our WA GP. It does happen. Hope you find SA more to your liking.
We spent 10 mths in WA, and like you loved it, especially Smithies, we do have to go back and do the things we skipped. As for the medication, my husband had a script on his phone from our GP in Adelaide. And had no problems having it filled even once in a small town. Sorry, you guys had issues.
Great Episode. I think I might give WA a miss ,we will do SA and then head towards the East Coast for 6 months. It’s hard to book 6 months ahead if you are traveling with 2 dogs. Have a great week 🍻🍷🏕️
Having seen WA for thirty + vlogs I am looking forward to seeing something of the rest of Australia where it may be possible for me to get to see WA is in the bucket list for AFTER the east side
Great wrap up video! Did you guys ever figure out the trick to booking camps around the ningaloo area? I've seen some big channels have got weeks and weeks of bookings yet some people cant get a single night (and the big channels seem reluctant to say how they booked it).... look forward to seeing your SA travels, such an awesome state!
Hmmmmm guys being from WA and just watching your video I sort of was disappointed in how you perceived our state. We have some of the best weather and best beaches in Australia. We live down south most of the year and yes it does get cold but we have more sunny winter days than rainy. One thing I do agree with is the lack of 24 hour rest stops in the Esperance/ Albany and Margaret River region. Even with the driver fatigue road campaign we found that most country towns are unfriendly and don’t want you stopping. Not everyone wants to stop minimum 2-3 days in a caravan park at a marked up price. We got caught at a Gold Coast caravan park arriving after 6 pm and had to be out by 9am and paid over $65 unpowered. We don’t like caravan parks but had to on the Gold Coast. Food and Pub/club meals are cheaper in the Eastern States too. And also do have the best 24-72 hour stops and I’m glad we are self contained. Safe Travels , one day we hope to try you tube also. One day. 😂
yeah, $65 for a place to camp for a night on the GC is crazy and they want you kicked out by 10am, such a joke. Caravan parks can be disgusting in how the treat people. We certainly did have some amazing weather in WA as well, but we also had some extreme winds, it was literally removing the sand from under our wheels at one location, we were wondering if than van would just start sinking. And in the South West, for winter it seemed to rain alot and also be very windy and stormy we were near Bunbury when the tornado went through and it was the same storm cell that took our Awning in Pinjarra. The winds in WA were unlike anything we have experienced before. The town of Serpentine was some kind of anomaly, I feel like they could do a documentary on it, every morning around 3 am we would get gusts of 60km/h and then by sunrise its gone. look up the Serpentine Caravan Park and then look at its reviews you will see that we aren't exaggerating, so many reviews stating the same. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Understand what you are saying about medicines and scrips. But my adult daughter has an issue where she needs monthly blood tests and monthly prescription of a very controlled drug (clozapine). When we did a long WA trip in 2019 from Canberra our ACT Mental Health Unit provided us with all of the drugs we needed for a 4 month trip but arranged for us to have monthly blood tests at crucial times - Esperance, Perth, Karratha etc. before they authorised taking the next months supply. It worked fantastically. They said they could do the same thing for overseas travel.
That's great, and just the point we wanted to highlight, it sounds like you had to do some forward planning to make it all work for you. I suppose we should of explained ours is a controlled drug also. But the message we wanted to get across is that if you have a special requirement you should do some research and ensure you will be able to access what you need. It sounds like you obtained yours ahead of time which is what some people will have to do.
Omg I noticed that in Cairns supermarket especially the small ones. It was so expensive 😭 I stayed away from my red bull. Usually $8 at Safeway for 4 pack , at the shop was 2 for $9. Nope I didn't buy.
Congratulations guys Fantastic to see I just got back from Cairns it was a bit windy and still 30. Beachers were so wavy. Don't come to Melbourne it's shit.
Didn't know that. Thanks for the update. So basically U have to get a script from that state. Unbelievable woo WA not taking scripts. Its gonna be different in all states but thank you for the heads up
Great video guys. Kimba, Beachport, Southend are a few places in SA I hope you visit so that we get to see a vlog on the camps in those areas. Long-term resident of WA...had no idea about how awkward the medical situation is for travellers, sometimes you do actually wonder if we are really 1 country of 7 countries pushed together. I have not experienced the postal delays you mentioned but maybe that is because I have a WA postal address, and it is mainly tourist mail that can be awkward to deliver?
I guess the post for South West was fine, its just up the coast where we spent a lot of time. We didn't want to say it in the video, but WA at times made us feel like a foreigner in our own country, and some of the comments I have received from locals over our time in WA cement that notion. It is a shame really. We are Australian and should feel welcomed to explore anywhere in Aus, its our home. thanks for watching and commenting.
Loved your video..born and bred Sandgropper ( 75 now) spent my early Primary school yrs in Kulin.....then to a farm in
the South west
Thanks guys! Very informative!
Another great review thanks!
Yeah, only scratched the surface, gold fields, Gascoyne inland, east Pilbara, great central short cut
I know, we have reasons to go back but which is good.
Top work!
Glad to hear you’re still coming to SA…. We look forward to getting our van and and tow vehicle weighed whilst you guys are in our state 🇦🇺
Great review! thanks for the info
Hey guys, great summary of WA, we are just back in Vic after our WA lap and agree on Karijini as one of our best experiences.. enjoy SA, loads to see!!
Valuable comments - thank you both for the fabulous episodes while in WA.😁🌺
What an awesome wrap-up of WA!

Great wrap up of your time here. With regards to expensive places to stay though, we have found there are often cheaper/free options in the same area.

Glad you didn’t boom it up as we don’t want everyone coming to WA.
yeah, it doesn't need any more visitors, I agree.
Perlubie beach :) South Australia is so underrated!!
great episode... One day......

Great Episode.
I think I might give WA a miss ,we will do SA and then head towards the East Coast for 6 months. It’s hard to book 6 months ahead if you are traveling with 2 dogs.
Have a great week 🍻🍷🏕️
It's an incredible state to visit and would be a shame to miss out because it has some challenges.
Having seen WA for thirty + vlogs I am looking forward to seeing something of the rest of Australia where it may be possible for me to get to see
WA is in the bucket list for AFTER the east side
That a isuzu you have, what do you think of that ?
08:30 my doctor is in Qld and I had no issue getting script med last 12month in WA.
Wasn't the case for us, but this is why we have said to do your own research, could be the type of medicine we require.
Great wrap up video! Did you guys ever figure out the trick to booking camps around the ningaloo area? nope, we did not figure out the trick. Its kind of depressing...
:( it's definitely a bit suss! We're hoping to do a lap in 2028, hopefully by then it's quietened down and easier to book!
When we were there last year. 5 months in WA getting a script filled from NSW was not a problem ever month. Will be hack again next year
Thanks! For the medical update
All you have to do is get your GP to send your script to a chemist near you we have never had a problem
thanks so much

Congratulations guys
Fantastic to see
I just got back from Cairns it was a bit windy and still 30. Beachers were so wavy. Don't come to Melbourne it's shit.
Great wrap up of WA so much info we shared, glad its helpful.
Didn't know that. Thanks for the update. So basically U have to get a script from that state. Unbelievable woo WA not taking scripts. Its gonna be different in all states but thank you for the heads up
It might be because of our type of medicine. We suggest you do some research on what you require before you plan to travel WA.
Great video guys.
Kimba, Beachport, Southend are a few places in SA I hope you visit so that we get to see a vlog on the camps in those areas.

I'm glad use a back at it
Hope U aren't feeling sad for to long. Your grandma would want U to continue on.
Thank you that means alot xoxo
