Congratulations on 1st video. Goulet was my first pen store purchase too. I love the DeAtramentis ink in Green Gray. I have it inked right now. Rachelle in Seattle
Hi, just wanted to let you know the De Atramentis Document line is waterproof and a pigment/permanent ink. Enjoy exploring this new hobby, and try to take your time to get to know what you like. I think someone else has said, but shimmer is the glitter or shimmering inks which need to be gently shaken up to disperse the glitter evenly through the ink. It can settle quickly and depending on pens can possibly clog. Sheen is the secondary colour that comes out like blue tends to sheen red. It means the ink is highly satuarated but can be diluted if too much sheen. There are also monster sheeners too. Shading is when you get light and dark "shades" or pooling of the ink as you write. The sailor inks like you have are classed as dual shaders or chromoshaders as they shade different colours. I hope I didn't confuse you. Starting with sample inks is definitely a good place to start and to try lots of different colours and brands, I'm doing it that way too and trying not to buy massive amounts of inks lol. Have fun with the pens and inks.
Love a good random selection of samples, as you can try something you might have not otherwise. This year I have been loving J. Herbin Lie De The, have wrote with it everyday, love how vintage my writing looks with it. Diamine inks are another fave, there's so many colours! Hope you enjoy exploring your new inks and pens 🥰
I underestimated the power of samples, I was just happy to get them because theyre free but theyre actually so powerful for figuring out what you like😵💫 the problem is ending up liking a lot of them🤧 J. Herbin Lie De The is such a beautiful color!! I can totally imagine the vintage vibe. I will eventually need to add a brown to my collection, I will definitely keep this one in mind🙂↕️Thank you for the sweet comment, I am enjoying my fountain pens and inks so much🥹💕
First thought when I saw the thumbnail: Oh no... You've doomed yourself (to wanting to buy an additional 5 pens right after this) 😂Getting so many inks makes it so hard for me to chill about writing because I need to see how every color I bought performs!! Those samplers are absolutely beautiful! I'd say to take care before you put in that Ferris Wheel ink, though, since it seems like it has some glitter in it? And Sailor inks tend to be not so lightfast, and the colors aren't generally "stable" (sometimes you can see noticeable color shifting with time; my thought is that they're made of different dyes mixed, and sometimes one of the dyes are more prone to "disappearing" sooner than the other), so be prepared for any of your Sailor inks to change colors. They tend to be super beautiful and unique, though. Herbin and Diamine tend to be pretty stable, so you're safe with those. Pilot Iroshizuku are one of the more stable line, too. I adore writing with Sailor Yurameku Kitsune Biyori (it's this beautiful Potter's Pink kind of color in a pen) and Herbin Cacao du Bresil (a very elegant cool brown-grey), at least semi recently. They're really easy on the eyes when I write random story snippets out on my writing notebook. Hand pain was also the reason I first got a fountain pen, and I have to say that it's probably the only reason why I don't have carpal tunnel-- I got it early in high school, and what a good time to get one. So, so many exams and NaNoWriMo to write during HS and uni. Welcome to the world of fountain pens, and I hope you enjoy the journey!
I hope you like the twsbi i like the EF more because of how i wright (really small) an I've had one for a few years an keep going back to it all the time.
Welcome to the Rabbit 🕳️.!! Fountain Pens are better for your wrist pain because there's no need to grip your pen or put pressure on your nibs. The pen should write clearly under its own weight. A wider grip section would help reduce the tension in your grip. Happy Trails!
hi james! i tried it out this morning and it didn’t work out the best for me because i write in the smaller side so the angle was a bit awkward. I think it would be nice for larger cursive writing😋 it’s okay though the grip is uncomfortable but not to the point it deters me from using it. thank you for the suggestion though💕
The red stuff that shows through on ink is sheen. Shimmer is like the glitter added

Try holding the pen on the body instead of the front section
