The ability to scrap everything and start again with the correct frame of mind and the correct questions to ask,, Dude AI aided design will make what has been achieved in the last ten years look ancient and pointless,,,,

"A few challenges" lol. Unless you include nuclear energy which could supply the entire planets supply of clean energy for the next 1000 years on its own then solar and wind are 100% incapable of supplying any single nation with all of its energy needs. It is just far too intermittent + it currently cannot be effectively stored. but even if it could be perfectly stored it would only improve its viablility to about 40%-50% at best. Meaning if that is all your power grid is using then the remaining 60%-50% of the time your whole nation is without power.
And even if solar and win technologies massively improve it is still highly unlikely to be capable of meeting 100% of our power needs. if it got to 60-70% without using up a signifigently large amount of space (as in to the point where space for green energy uses gets in the way of other things we need to use land space for) then that would be a pleasant supprise, but would also likely be close to the maxium possible limits of that technology.

Nuclear/Hydro (for base load) + Solar/Wind (for peak load) + ESS (for smoother transition)
