Everything would have been perfect IF the video playback speed is normal. In many demonstration shows, you often need slow motion video if you want to show each procedure in full details. But I learned a lot. Thanks.
great video, planning on fixing a pair of halogen headlights i just got and the adjusters are broke. reason i wanted these headlights is because they don't have the level motors like my units in my car
Heated mine for about 6 mins that didn't work then went for 10 that didn't work and then finally 15 mins. It was at the point where parts of the headlight plastic was starting to melt. It turns out the style of sealant was changed to make it impossible to split. Good video if you're lucky and don't have the updated lights
UViDS apologies for snapping. Your video is a good guide. I've discovered that BMW or Hella changed the sealant they use making it impossible to split them after a certain production run. I just got really frustrated. It seems they can be changed through the back so I'll give it a go. I appreciate you replying so quickly too.
Unfortunately mine are the same, tried for longer and longer and it doesn't budge at all. Great video mate thanks for giving your time. Now back to the drawing board as I have 2 sets of lights. One is factory xenon but the lenses are totally cloudy and the other set have perfect lenses but both sets need the adjusters......
Hey any idea why my headlights didn't have those 2 screws? I could just heat the lenses, and take them off, no screws or anything holding them. And my headlights started getting moist as of recently (also missing top gasket that stays on the lenses, could it be from that?), would the lack of those screws cause any moisture buildup inside you think?
Hi mate, These are NON Xenon headlights. I bought my adjusters on eBay probably the best place to buy 😉 there's two types of adjusters, easiest way to find out is if you look inside your head light.
I got my adjusters from AliExpress. Bought the wrong set initially but it was only about 3 euros (including p&p) for one set. The second lot was 4 sets (4 headlights) for about 8 euros (p&p included).
m16msn Thanks:) I would say definitely yes, much easier and less hassle. As on other two units, on which ones I changed from back, I slightly scratched the bottom part of reflectors! Wasn't catastrophic scratches, if you don't know you won't see, but anyways not nice 😉
I got a broken screw which connects to the adjsuter, but I can't find the part no. for that ... the one screw for adjusting left or right .... If you have any info I would appreciate it
@@UViDSIRE ok thanks. I'm going to look into it. Just a heads up for others. There are 2 different kinds. I think 2001 and up use the ones you used. Double check before you order.
hi great vid I have a 2000 facelift with halogens that both need adjusters, I see you used a heat gun which I don’t have, may be a silly question but would borrowing the wife’s hair dryer do the same job or does it need more heat, don’t fancy the idea of sticking the lights in the oven
+Tom Mckay Hi, thanks 😉 Hairdryer is not gonna work you definitely need more heat than that and those lights are pretty big they didn’t fit in my oven.If your oven is big enough you can do that way no prob I’ve done that before with Alfa Romeo lights and worked well. Or easiest way just get some really cheap heat gun 😉
A hairdryer will work, depending on its power rating of course! I used a heat gun set at nearly its lowest temperature, my wife's hairdryer would easily provide the same heat and airflow.
the part where you are using the heat gun to undo the lens -- are you saying that these lens should typically just pop off -- but that someone before had siliconed it and that's why you had to use the heat gun ?
Thanks for a question buddy, normally they pop off. But if someone have opened before and used silicone to stick them back together, then is very hard to split!
thanks for the reply. I have to replace my 2002 E39 530i original lens because it is heavily oxidized and hazed up. I just hope the original factory lens assembly doesn't have the lens glued to the frame where I have to use a heat gun like you did.
do i have to reheat the plastic parts so this little ball that fits into the other part gets "clued" by the plastic? 3:05 Wich wouldnt make sense cause they need to be free rotating right?
when Hella made this headlights , the ugly ph1 models in 1996 they put this plastic adjusters , when they build the facelift in 2001 the engineers says to each other... you know what ? , we are aware thet the adjusters in ph1 brake down , so.... we put them again in the facelift models.... why ?? BECAUSE WE ARE STUPID !!!
If you slowed down the video at certain opportune moments and talked your way through it rather than the music, it would have been much more useful. Thanks for uploading anyway.
I don't know for sure to be honest as I'm not the first owner of the car but there wasn't any sign of someone done it before. For xenons they use different glue thats the problem I guess.
+Kvothe 13 I had the same problem with other set of headlights, I couldn't remove lens! But I managed change the adjusters without dismantling headlights.
Any advice on changing them without dismantling the headlight I have a 2003 e39 525i and my adjusters are broken and I’m too broke to buy new headlights could really use the help

Thank you 😉🍻
Great help here! Wouldn’t dare do it without a video guide! 😅 thanks man
You welcome 😉
Just doing my adjusters , many thanks 👍🏻
Glad to help

Hi,
As I mentioned in description I had other set of headlights and had the same problem!!!
I’m very sorry

Yeah, it’s a pain but possible I did managed to change them on the other set. Good luck! 😉 hope it works out good for you🤞🏻

Hello how did you do that how I opened the lens cap?
I tried with a 2000W hot air gun and it didn't work I'm so sad I want to change these pieces
there is no need to disassemble headlights to change adjuster
Is this for non xenon as well? I have a 2001 angel eye e39 w/ traditional halogen lights, pointing down. And - what adjusters should i buy from where?

Does this work with glued lenses or just the black silicone
Unfortunately not. My original ones was glued and I couldn’t open them but I managed to change without opening them

Can this e39 headlight fit a mitsubishi legnum or replace it.
great video thanks for uploading, would you say the heat gun method is quicker and easier than repairing the adjusters from the back thanks Martin.

First of all thanks for watching 😉
I did some research and couldn’t find either 😬 even real oem doesn’t show that part
Thanks bro :) 🇩🇪
Rumor has it that this does't work on 2003 models, they use an epoxy adhesive that can't be heated open. Anyone know?
Double J Yes that’s right but it’s possible w change the adjusters without opening the headlight
dont u use a new PB seal??
No, and I never had any issues they never leaked
Please can this e39 headlights be fixed to a Mitsubishi galant legnum. Because they look alike.

Does this fix the bouncing I have in my headlights? I have a 1999 e39 touring.

Whatever comes out the heat gun, I never checked the temperature
Does this process also work for Xenons? I have a 2002 M5
I’m not sure but probably will be the same 🤔
If made of alloy might last abit longer 🤷🤷
My lens is not coming off but the headlight is deforming melting and cracking...
After 80 mins. Factory xenon
