    Thanks for the tip sir. I don't know how many videos I seen. You are the only person that has said the snaps and swivels are different sizes.

      Wtf really? That's a pretty key part to the whole set up LOL. Thanks for watching and glad it helped out.

      Completely agree, so many videos with so little technical information. This video covered the details well.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video, you break it down to the very simplest terms, much appreciated. What is the usual distance/how many feet, do you let your Kite out?? I'm an avid fisherman, but never ventured in to kite-fishing.

      Thanks for watching and glad I was able to help out! Distance wise is all up to you. I have only ever measured the distance between the kite and first clip and then the distance from the first clip to second clip. I usually have those at 75 feet apart. Other than that I just put the kite out away from the boat just by looking. I'd probably say the second clip will get out away from the boat probably 80-100ft so however far away that would put the kite. I'd say try the set up with one clip and the kite just to get used to it and then add the second clip after a couple tries. Once you've tried it, it will make a lot more sense and be fairly easy to get going. I'm usually doing it all by myself when I'm out on someone's boat so it just takes some practice. Getting the kite to properly fly is annoying though. Let me know if you need anymore help.

    Great video and you explain it well.
    I’m looking to start that type of fishing. Buying the equipment as we speak.
    Thanks for making this video.

      Glad the video was helpful! It's a little complicated at first especially trying to learn getting the kite up in the sky, but just try out using only one bait at first and work up to two or three baits out. It can be a little expensive but it is a very effective fishing tactic.

    The only video I've found that explains how this is done. Thank you! Where do you buy those release clips? Also, could you give information as to the kite itself? Can one use a regular delta kite for this?

      Thanks! I'm glad it helped out. The clips I just get from my local tackle shop, but I'm pretty sure all shops should have them. Sometimes they have already made kits with the line inbetween the swivels so you just tie it on and it's ready but I like making them myself. I use the SFE kite and a Bob Lewis kite, though I don't believe Bob Lewis makes kites anymore(Googling really quickly it looks like they do and are called Kite Hunter I think.).

      Would these clips work? Cannot link but in amazon search for 'Outrigger Release Clips by Gaffer Sportfishing' ..they look identical to the ones you use. The kites you mentioned are quite expensive so it is difficult for me to purchase one just to try this out... from what I've researched the reason why you need a fishing kite is because it survives contact with water/drag in the water... but if I just wanted to try kite fishing once would a normal beach kite work? Like a kids kite? For example in amazon search 'Tomi Kite huge rainbow kite'. I could afford 15 bucks to try this fishing out but not 100+.

      Also, what kind of rod and line would one need to use to hold the kite? I've an 8ft 30-80 lb rod with a trolling reel and 500yds of 50lb braid I could use for it. Or would a regular 8ft 10-25lb rod on a spinning reel with 30lb line mono do? I fish out of cocoa beach/daytona. Thanks again for your help :)

    • @JupiterSailfish
      @JupiterSailfish  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I'm pretty sure they are the same clips, but you would have to cut off the wire that goes through the middle of the clips with the beads on it to put the braided line through instead. Yea the kites are pretty expensive but they are made a lot tougher so if they get dunked in the water like you said they usually won't break. That kite would work fine I think just to try it out but might make it hard to cause I bet it moves around a lot in the air where a fishing kite isn't supposed to.

    • @JupiterSailfish
      @JupiterSailfish  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably the rod with the conventional reel because I'm assuming it has a low gear ratio which is what you want or else it's hard to reel the kite in if there is a strong wind. Just trying it out then that should work fine.

    I was thinking of just making a loop in the line. something with a non slipping knot like a figure8. stick the clip in that and just let them out. any reason not to?

    • @JupiterSailfish
      @JupiterSailfish  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I understand it right I think it would make it a pain to keep removing the clips every time you reel in. The swivels make it so that you don't have to do anything other than just reel in the kite.

    If you are reeling in your kit will it only reel to the first big clip?

    • @JupiterSailfish
      @JupiterSailfish  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crookedrunner No, it will reel up to the snap swivel that connects the line to the kite.

    I thought you did a great job explaining this. How is it that the kite doesn’t pull your bait out of the water?

    • @JupiterSailfish
      @JupiterSailfish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. The kite will pull the baits out of the water, so you have to let line out on the reels to lower the bait back to the water. You also have to reel them in if too much line is out because the bait can swim down too deep. You just have to keep watching them to see when to reel in or let line out. Usually if the wind picks up, the kite will go higher pull the baits up.

    Kite fishing, you gotta use 100$ bills for bait. That shit to damm expensive dude!

    • @JupiterSailfish
      @JupiterSailfish  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nahhh, Goggle Eyes work great, but you can use Blue Runners that are just as hardy and a lot cheaper. Greenies and Sardines also work pretty well.
