I had the good fortune to take refuge with the Venerable Master in 1973. Even though I spent considerable time around him, I don't think I realized how authentically and completely he transcended the limitation of the human form. Now that my life is almost over, I'm so grateful I had this example, and truly ashamed I haven't done more either to cultivate personally or advance the Dharma in the world. May all beings be free from suffering and fear.

Who is the western monk doing the translation? I have seen some do other translation for him

That would be Heng Sure, one of Master Hsuan Hua's chief disciples. He still teaches at City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, and is the director of a monastery in Berkley.
