- Serge is best known as the boss of the Netherlands’ Clone Records (and associated Rotterdam record shop and distribution), and he brings his decades-long history in electronic music to bear with his selection of B-SIDES on Telekom Electronic Beats TV. Funny thing, I never really paid attention to what side I was picking; A or B, but I think I play more B sides. Djing, you're always learning.
That Geto Boys "My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me" got airplay in the US, I am surprised it is considered a B-side.
Mom played that heavy as a kid really surprised it’s a b side as well.

When he says "I mostly play B sides or B2 sides" what does that actually mean? What's so special about the side a track is on or how close it is to the center hole???
think he means records that come in 2 LP form.. he mostly plays B1 and B2 sides.. my guess...
@@GunkTVRecords I did some research. Apparently the A side on an EP is what the label wants to grab people's attention with, whereas the B side is usually for remixes or more experimental/dubby/ambient stuff. I never realized, but now that I know it seems sort of obvious.
For owning a record store I was expecting much better selections.

He mentions that The Advent would have two techno tracks and the B2 would be an electro track. Does anyone know of any other B2 traditions? Or, other artists who would use a consistent structure on their releases?
Nice one with the Geto Boys record !! a true classic of 90s hip hop.... i dont want to be a funcrusher here, but this as an A-Side Hit !! the version you got was from a follow up 12", where it was indeed on the b-side... but i wont front, as this is a dope ass track, production and lyrics-wise. peace

A-Side was/is often aimed at a wider audience/dancefloor. B-sides usually meant more experimental/interesting tracks. So DJ's who look beyond just "the hits" often end up playing a bit more b-sides.
I get what you’re saying, “I usually only play b-sides” yeah I don’t know why one would even say that. Kind of dated
B-sides are often DJ tools. It’s the way to create your own sound.

This track has to be probably the pinnacle moment. When only a couple releases out there.
It’s a shame you didn’t like the strings play surged as the strings are what make it special and I have good selection.
Also that Geto Boys track was remade by Kodak Black a few years ago on a track called
Transportin. 2017
