The wheel tire combo looks great, hard to imagine there was a day when this rig was considered high quality. Oh the world of plastics has come lightyears
the blitzer beetle was my first rc car as a kid. it had the original speedcontroller that was controlled with a steering servo. if not maintained properly, there was a chance that the servo was stuck on the fullthrottle point. and this was also the reason you ultimately needed to switch on the remote controller first and then the car. interference with other cars was also a thing and of course it will also goes fullhtrottle then ;) i also replaced the black plastic piece under the rear motor with an aluminium plate and drilled holes in it. looked cool and safed the screw hole from the transmission while doing wheelies.
This Video makes me want to go back to my Tamiya Beetle and re-build it in a proper way, very very inspiring and in-depth building guided. Thank you for sharing man it's mean a lot to us RC Hobbyist
@@MechanicAfterHours Actually this is my work account and can't help it soon as I saw your work mann. It is top-notch craftsmanship which I wish I had the same skill as you but with the detail and effort you put into TH-cam video and instruction I guess I'm going to spam Pause and Play this video a lot. I even bought "BearHawk" body and wheels to convert this bad boy to more buggy but see you put that slick tyre and black paint job on it drive me back to this hobby asap lol (my personal account is turtleywasted which also already sub on this channel :), no brainer not to sub)
Thanks again! And thanks for the sub/support :)! The Bearhawk is an awesome body. I believe they are a not as easy to find anymore. Anyway, good luck with the build and with whatever you end up doing! It’s going to be a fund one.
Incredible level of skill and detail here, both in the model building and the video production. This has convinced me to get one of these as a project car. Will go in a different direction though
Wow brings back a lot of memories I was a blast building your own Rc back in the day well at least I loved it. Because you can always change things to the way you wanted and when you were done if you had any problems on the track like a crazy crash you new how to fix it already and what you needed to upgrade. I built a Tamaya Subaru bratt. A grass hopper. A big brute. By kyosho. And a pice of crap traxxes nite hawk some rc 10 stadium truck wow didn’t realize how much of a great child hood I had of course had to save my own money for them
Best Blitzer beetle seen so far, theme is working so well. Was blown away, since I saw it on Tamiyaclub first! Great and clean build, it looks so mean! Highlights are the Hoosier tires and the squadron lights, which really give it a badass attitude. And nice driver!
Very nice build. I really like the attention to the body and the ESS unit adds realism. Just a side note. The yellow cloth that you used during soldering the lights is not heat friendly. I used one just like it and burned it. It became a messy plastic crystal that could solder itself to the plastic body.
Thank you and thanks for watching! Yes, you're right, the microfiber cloth isn't heat friendly. I typically don't use it and have a silicone mat when I solder, but just in that instance because it was a quick and tiny solder.
So, not sure why this popped up on my YT feed...maybe because the algorithms know I love Bugs lol.....but so glad it did. At the start I thought ‘wow this guy is meticulous- rarely do I see anyone use a set of VCs to check pin sizes from a factory kit’......by the end of the video I’m like ‘this must be how God operates’ ....🤯🤯🤯🤯 Your aunt would not only be pleased, if she’s the sort of petrol head you make out, she’d want a go on it hahaha....not sure if it’s too late, but if not, maybe you can add a decal with your aunt’s name on it and stick to the roof of the driver’s door or window just behind the driver like most race cars have....either way a fitting tribute....this entire video, and your description has just gained you a new subscriber 👍...but more than that, your memories of your Aunt and her Bug, reminds me of my own Father....he owned a Bug and like you’re Aunt and as a young child I remember being driven around in that. I learnt my first swear word in that car because of my Father swearing at another driver who had cut him up, coming off the motor way he would always slow down get me to stand up on the rear passenger seat whilst he pointed out the RC track on the side and show guys and girls racing RC cars (42yrs later and I’m a member of that very club)....I used to help him wash the car...as I was only very young I could only reach the hub caps and at most the door sills.....I’d watch Herbie Goes Bananas and look out at the driveway and see the Beetle parked there and think my Father owned Herbie!! .....as you can imagine I loved that car as a kid and have loved Bugs ever since.....so from someone who doesn’t have your talent but has had very similar fun experiences back in the day, I can’t thank you enough for doing such a exquisite job on this Bug. 🙏😎
Thank you for watching and the kind words! I really like the idea of adding her name (as the driver) and I will try to get to it at some point. She was quite a petrol head. Thanks for the suggestion! And thanks for sharing your memories! The part about you thinking your Father owned Herbie made me laugh! Yes, it's those memories that we treasure. I learned from my aunt to jump the gun and not hesitate on a street race, quite a hooligan. Haha!
Quick mod for the steering is swap the uprights and have the left on the right and vice versa. It stops the wheels toeing in as much when the front suspension is compressed.
Thanks, Paul Morris! That's a great mod especially for off-road use. Thanks for recommending. I did try it initially but for on road it made the car a bit high, including the stance since-it would prevent the car from going lower. Thanks for watching!
@@MechanicAfterHours oh and the finished car is absolutely beautiful, a work of art!!! I'm currently building a blitzer beetle too. Just the painting of shell and driver to go. I may take a few ideas from your build and use them on mine. Great video, thoroughly enjoyed it 👏🏻👌🏻
Hi Miguel. Thank you and thanks for watching! Will do. I will definitely run it and do a video because I also want to see how it goes :). Just haven’t had a chance to because it’s been snowing or raining on the days when I have time to take it out. But one day I will upload a clip.
Hi Ilwan Pradipta. Thanks for watching. I cut a strip of Kydex but you can also use ABS plastic or some firm plastic. I then glued it to keep it tilted and open. I hope that makes sense.

Hi Thomas Sawyers. Sorry to hear about your uncle, hang in there! Thanks for watching and the kind words.
This was so much fun to watch. The first RC car I built was a Stadium Blitzer, so this brought back a lot of memories.
that's one of the coolest rcs I have ever seen.

Nothing has changed with this car. I had a stadium Blitzer 30 years ago . Great rc car
