Hey all, the timeline in regards to the incidents taking place in this case is pretty all over the place in the press. I've done what I can to piece it together, but I'd like to hear your thoughts too. I'd also like to know if you've heard of Sandra's disappearance before?

Some brain injuries are so innocuous, and they can be deadly. I suffered a large stroke after coughing. Yes,..coughing. I had a regular coughing fit one morning, recovered after a minute so, felt a twinge in my neck, but was fine and got on with my day. Unknownst to me, I had coughed so hard I had made a tiny tear in my neck artery, which was slowly seeping blood up to my brain. It took till late that same night for me to feel any ill effects. It started as dizzyness, and nausea, then deteriorated into me being very confused, and unable to stay balanced enough to walk. The blood had clotted in my brain and caused a stroke. Now imagine doing this in the wilds,.. you could physically move around, do stuff, but with cognitive impairment, and possibly even in flight mode, being avoidant, or believing you're in danger from folk, before eventually becoming so physically impaired that you collapse. I believe something like this may have happened to Sandra. RIP Sandra.

I'm surprised that the people who saw Sandra with the bruise said everything seemed in order - except she was barefoot on a hiking trail. There is no way being barefoot on a hiking trail should appear normal. It's such a shame that a few of those who saw her didn't put a quick call into the rangers. Perhaps these are things to learn from - firstly, a quick call to park rangers about slightly strange incidents are not a waste of time, and also, never assume someone who refuses medical assistance is, in fact, okay.

Classic missing 411 case. I love the added folklore because once you do enough research into these topics they become alot more than just "fantastical stories". It's a phenomenon that's as old as recorded history, and gives us clues and real perspectives into what this realm we live in really is.

The sheer number of clues, physical evidence and sightings, if all added up together make for one of the strangest cases I've ever heard of....and I've read every single 411 book, watched every 411video, etc etc. Trying to use ordinary LOGIC or REASON to determine the meaning of various clues and evidence seems to disintegrate in this case. Soooo many odd factors here......great case review......bravo!!!

People running grow areas want one thing more than literally anything else..... for as many ppl as possible to be as far away as possible for those areas. They damn sure don't want a full blown search, led by park rangers and law enforcement officials, including dogs, helicopters, etc.

Yeah the area she was camping is smack in the middle of a pretty busy camping and hiking area just south of yosemite. Her sleeping bag was also found inside yosemite so the idea that growers had an operation in an area like that where campers and hikers could wander into the product is ridiculous.

I thought here's a middle aged woman, has 2 marriages behind her, never had kids, sold her home and is wandering about literally in the wilderness. Even though she phoned her family she might've been depressed and wanted to end her life alone, before anyone tried to stop her. Also if she did suffer a head injury that would explain the sightings of her not having shoes on or any sort of provisions. I do hope her soul is at peace.

OK I'm not sure who's sense of direction is off here. Chiquito Creek area is South of Johnson Meadows, not North. It has been awhile (40+ yrs.) but I recall the Mugler Creek area being North of Johnson Meadows. Her actions as reported by people who saw her, might indicate her just checking out the dimension just next to ours. Easy enough to do with Peyote, just a jump to the left and a step to your right presto yer there. Not saying that is the case but, looking at her lifestyle, the area she was in, it is a possibility that shouldn't be dismissed.
The compassion you show in your uploads, is always a breath of fresh air. Thank you.

  • @herstoryanimated
    @herstoryanimated 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

She could've also been malnourished or dehydrated, particularly if she'd picked up a stomach bug etc. (perhaps from drinking questionable water).
Edit: There is also the possibility she had a fall (causing the bruise or not) causing head trauma, and that the crash didn't cause much or any damage.
I've also seen stories of people feeling like they are being stalked and seeing figures that aren't actually there, just from the fear of being alone in the woods (hence not wanting to interact with real people, as confusing them with the hallucinations).
She could've also entered a fugue state after a time and her brain defaulted to 'goal is to go north to Yosemite' as that was a clear aim for her.
It's a shame they couldn't get her family out to that area, she may have been distrusting of strangers, but perhaps would've been able to recognise their voices 😢
The Kayden sighting, makes me wonder if he saw a poster (that his family didn't notice) on the way in and got confused or worried about seeing her once out there

Regarding the theory that she stumbled onto a grow operation, I spoke with a helicopter pilot who has previously provided air support for the Forestry Service in California. He has assisted in destroying hundreds of grow operations over the course of several years. Although it wasn't unheard of, more often than not, grow operations they came across did not have armed security guarding the crops. If they did exist, they weren't in the habit of getting into a fire fight with law enforcement or bringing attention to the site in cases where a member of the public stumbled across it.
There were two things that I found especially interesting in our discussion. In cases where they came across 'employees' at a grow site, they were not in the country legally. Why? Because when caught, the only logical recourse is sending them back to their country of citizenship without filing criminal charges. The other thing I found interesting was the volume of of grow operations. The pilot stated that they broke up an average of 300 operations a year in the years he was involved. Remember, these are just the number of grow operations found. I didn't ask, but I wonder what percentage of all operations are discovered and destroyed?

According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics 138,543 million or 50% of people 12 and older have used illicit drugs at least once. I am horrified that kids that young use drugs. At that age I was playing with toys and watching cartoons. I am disgusted by and feel contempt for those that grow drugs or create them in a lab. I think Hughes problem stemmed from a mental health issue, depression.

I'm from Brazil, and the first time I heard about this Sandra Hughes case was on a channel here in Brazil called Sinistro Henridrick Alves, which is about cases of supposed apparitions of spirits. I confess that I was scared by the story of the 3-year-old boy named Kadyn, who told his parents that there was a lady, in a black shirt, blue jeans, with dyed blue hair, upside down with her legs up. I believe in the spiritual world. Small children and animals can see spirits more easily. This story by the boy Kadyn tells how Sandra may have died. She must have crashed the car and become disoriented. She went to the tent and got out, and then fell into a hole and died, with her head down and her legs up, exactly as the boy said. So, most likely her spirit is not at peace, because no one knows where she is, and that's why she appeared to the boy, because he was the only one who understood her as a spirit.

here's another scenario senators said of her campsite and while setting it up she had a stroke a bad one and it affected her coordination on trying to do anything else so she tried to get out of there and while driving out she got stuck somewhere for a day Finally she's able to get wherever she was stuck out of the car the wherever she was stuck and continued on driving and then hit the tree stump where she got out and was like injured at that point but she was disoriented and unable to function properly and ask questions all she can do is go yeah I'm okay yeah I'm I'm okay cuz this make any sense the only reason I suggest is because out of stroke a few years back mild one luckily and my coordination was all over the place for the first few days I could not walk right I could not talk right I could not move my left arm or my left leg correctly I could barely stand I had to limp everywhere going it was like my leg was dead no functionality whatsoever luckily I got to the hospital a couple of days later and got checked out and they said yeah you had a small stroke I've been declared fine now by the neurologist and I'm good to go I mean I still have a little tremor on my left side occasionally when I try and move things in a certain way so I try not to move that light but I can see that happening if you're out on a camping trip and you get a stroke you get no way to get help you're screwed if you're only recourses you getting yourself out of there and you have to drive with impairment it's not going to happen well

Thank you, my mum had a stroke on Sunday, left arm and leg, speech the same as you, she's in the acute stroke unit and been told it was a mini stroke (i cant remember proper word). 2 times in the last couple of months the whites of one of her eyes went black, the optician said burst blood vessels and said its fine, when my mum was taken to hospital on Sunday her blood pressure was very high, we think her eye situation was a early warning. As its early days for my mum we are all worried about her future and recovery, so basically, I'm grateful to have read your comment as you point out u have recovered use of your limbs, gives us hope :)

@@friendlydark Its very possible, depending on the type of stroke. I had a rare type of stroke called a cerebellar stroke. It happens at the back of the head. I never lost the use of my legs or arms, but i was nauseous, dizzy, and stumbling around like I was very drunk, but still able to speak clearly. I could have attempted to drive a car in that state, but i would have been like a very drunk person behind the wheel, and would likely have crashed the car at some point, or went off a road. I went about my usual day until late the same night, when I really started to deteriorate, and could'nt balance enough to walk. So, yes, it really is possible to still drive with certain types of stroke. Albeit dangerously. The thing is, you don't realise you're having a stroke either,..you just think you're having some kind of 'funny turn' or episode. You really dont comprehend the seriousness of whats happening to you,..hence getting in a car and thinking you're ok to do so.

It seems Sandra was taking stock of her life at a time when being close to anyone but family was impossible. It sounded like she was in shock, though it would have eventually subsided. The car accident would not account for the shock. I think it happened after she made camp. Those who saw her with the car, it was said, asked if she needed help? Besides no or a shake of the head we know nothing more about the encounter. Were the men who saw her standing next to a tree really seeing her? What were they seeing if it was her? This is a case
I have heard about and think about now and then.

I don’t think it’s a given the disappearance and the messy campsite are linked. Perhaps she left campsite neat, took the car to hike somewhere more distant, had an accident and a disorienting head injury. The abandoned campsite eventually attracts bears, mountain lions, raccoons and/or other creatures that go through it anticipating human food. It’s possible too the head injury happened before the accident. Maybe she had a stroke or aneurysm and recognizing something is wrong she attempted to drive herself to help. Hence an accident and wandering.

It doesn't take much to rattle your brain. I got rear-ended while at a stop, not bad enough to deploy airbags or even hit my head, but the whiplash was enough to scramble me cognitively. I took down the license plate and model of car wrong and drove myself home rather than calling anyone because that was my original plan. I also was ready to fight the other driver briefly before I calmed down. Long story short, it doesn't need to be a massive head injury to cause short term cognitive impairment.

The hypothesis that she was experiencing the initial stage of a psychological breakdown during the plandemic comes as no surprise. Her age, failed relationships and that nomadic lifestyle may have contributed to a rather lonely, gloomy outlook for the future and she might have felt more hopeless than any other time in her life. If she did stumble upon criminals with bad intentions it might have tipped her over the edge. Perhaps she saw no way out of the situation as she was being led away, barefoot to her final resting place and instead just accepted her fate. Was she told not to raise alarm during that final journey knowing that it would ultimately lead to others being murdered? RIP Sandy.

Cognitive science student here - While I am not the most knowledgable about the topic (yet) and an opinion of a real expert with expirience in this field would be needed, to me it looks a lot like bias induced paranoia turned into a delusion.
Bias induced paranoia is an example of cognitive heuristic (behavioral mechanisms that cause us to expect specific outcomes of actions because it's evolutionary simpler/safer) which states that when a person comes into a random chance scenario with a bias of it being set up against them, and the first interaction of that scenario ends with a negative outcome, then they will expect all other outcomes to also be negative even if they are in fact random or set up in their favour, for exmaple: if you have a coin tossing game and someone tells you that the coin is weighted during playing, and you lose the next throw, then you automatically assume that the previous tosses were mostly lost no matter if the actual results that you just went through really were, like if the coin turned out to be actually fair or even stacked in your favour you will retroactively assume that this expierience ended with a negative total sum result for you - in other words you had retroactively created a paranoid delusion about something that you expierienced because assuming a loss and cutting the interaction short posesses less risk than actually attempting something that's even might be set up against you.
Like pretty much all cognitive biases they can turn into actual delusions or temporary episodes if the person expieriencing them is under high levels of stress or shock, like how Sandra seems to have been. My personal opinion is that she was set into a mindset of "everyone being a potential danger" because of what was going on in the world at the time, and then something might have happened at the campsite which unfortunately caused her to snap in that specific way at that exact moment, and as such she thought that everyone was out to get her - she then built an entire narrative about the trip and how many "signs" there were that something bad was going to happen, and as such likely feared for her life but because her delusions weren't psychotic or manic in nature she was able to remain collected enough to gather useful stuff, change of clothes and to make a plan of actions ahead. The "walking barefoot" part also seems to me like it reinforces the scenario that she thought she was being followed by someone but being sane enough to actively somewhat rationally react to it - in general tracking someone who is barefoot is extremely hard, bootprints are much more noticible than footprints and she might've thought that taking off her shoes would make her harder to track.

  • @Pushing_Pixels
    @Pushing_Pixels 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hitting the tree slow enough that the airbag didn't deploy could mean it was deliberate. She would've had to have not been wearing her seatbelt to suffer significant injury at that speed, though the slide down the hill could've injured her. The crash could've been staged.
As for the campsite, maybe she was attacked or chased off by people, who then ransacked the camp looking for valuables. It's possible they caused her injuries, and may have taken her keys, then staged the car crash to misdirect investigators. As an afterthought, they ransacked it too. Meanwhile, she was stuck out there with no gear (or shoes), because she hadn't planned to leave camp.
I wouldn't be surprised if wilderness areas were more populated than usual during the pandemic. There would've been plenty of people thinking it was a good time to get away from civilization. Not all of them would've been competent and not all of them would've been friendly.

I think it's better to just look at the clear facts, and fair assumptions. Sandra left Hawaii for California after the pandemic started, to change her surroundings. once she arrived and settled in, she chose to go on a hike to get away. she was clearly looking for change. she successfully camped at another site, then drove to the meadow. she set up her tent, unpacked her belongings from her car and placed them until the tent, and was in the meadow. at some point, she begins going through all of her belongings, and removing most of her belongings from the tent, dumping the contents of her bags on the ground, and inspecting, then discarding, the majority of her items in general. she discards nearly of them, except her sleeping bag and potentially a couple of other critical supplies, and gets back in her car.
she drives to the next site, where she slowly drives her car over a stump, and into a shallow ravine, causing minor injuries, as if to force the car into a stuck position that she could not return to for escape, and from which no one else could simply drive the car away, and again throws all unimportant belongings out of the car, as if purposefully choosing to individually go through every item, reject it as meaningful, and disavow and discard it. "what is truly useful? what is meaningful and essential? what do I actually need to reach my goal?". she then discards her shoes, to walk with her feet touching the earth, carrying her sleeping bag and a couple essential items. she is spotted by hikers, barefoot and bruised, where she insists that she is fine, and does not want medical attention. she then moves straight north, toward yosemite national park. she sleeps in her sleeping bag at night, but at some point, chooses to also discard her sleeping bag, leaving even that behind. meaningless items, unnecessary to become one with nature and return to a meaningful state, and not needed anymore to reach her goal.
at some point, that desire to become closer to nature, and further away from human problems, may have led her to accept death in the wilderness, I assume, getting as close to yosemite as possible, since that seemed to be her goal. I would wager that she wanted to at least make it to yosemite before passing. she may have changed clothes at some point, since she was known to have been carrying at least a sleeping bag up to the point that she discarded even that belonging. she could not have survived for more than a couple weeks, I would assume. the person spotted in overalls was either a case of mistaken identity, or another apparition. I'm led to believe it was an apparition, due to the fact that she had no facial expression, did not acknowledge the presence of other people, stared straight ahead, and did not respond. this is extremely common amongst apparitions. her spirit is then seen again by 3 year old kayden wearing the clothes she was last known to be wearing, in a position that leads me to believe that she may have fallen face first off of a small embankment, with her face down, or with her face turned downward to the side facing the ground, and legs slightly bent upward against the incline. her body may be laying on an incline somewhere. those are the basic facts, in my estimation. it seems to me that she developed an obsession with material items, nature, and yosemite national park. she did not want help, and seemed to choose this path, which led to the end of her life. she was so interested in nature that she chose to study it in college. her obsession with living wild in nature may have led to her death. the child said she needed help, which is very sad. I'll pray for the respite of her soul tonight, and I hope you'll do the same for her. may God put her to rest.

The only worrying thing about 2020 is how mental everyone acted.
This disappearance was close to where i live. She clearly didn’t want to be found. Most people don’t understand how easy it is to die out here. By end of June it’s already extremely hot usually. 2020 was no exception. It was a miserable summer. (People actually expected laborers to wear masks in the heat, so mental, and why I remember because I left my job as I refused to wear a mask in 111 degrees)
The terrain is rugged, dry, and dangerous. The only bears in the region are black bears which while they can be dangerous, they usually are not but they do rifle through belongings to get food.
Mountain lions are the only real predator for human adults in the area. Though coyote packs can do damage again it’s rare. Rattlesnakes are also dangerous if you don’t have a way to get medical attention.
The sad fact is that sometimes people voluntarily disappear for their own reasons.
But more than anything people don’t realize how rugged and rough the area can be. They are used to temperate forests etc and they are “fit” for hiking in temperate climates. They have no idea the environment they are getting themselves into. They don’t bring enough water, they don’t protect themselves from the sun, they get themselves in a bad situation and they walk DOWN a ravine etc to water and they don’t realize the creek is probably dry and that the temp can change 10+ degrees when you descend to dry water sources.
The witnesses are the element that makes it weird/strange.
The most likely scenario is probably pretty explainable
