Why is there even an ' evaporation cover ' ? Just pump more water !?!?!?!
Thank you for asking that question so I wouldn't have to waste research that I didn't get to put in the video.
Evaporation covers on reservoirs serve two purposes that I am aware of. One, something like 30% of the water in a reservoir is lost to evaporation. This translates to like millions of dollars a year of lost water so naturally people want to prevent that. Two, and more importantly, when sun light reacts with the water treatment chemicals they use to keep out bacteria, it converts those chemicals to bromine or bromide or whatever which I believe is toxic. Basically the evaporation cover stops the water from becoming poison.
@@ThinkBeforeYouSleepYT any other reaserch you found thats not in the video because i genuinely didnt think about evaporation until you said the cover with the rip (absolutely wild they didnt fix it for that long)

"My house is on fire! I hope they send someone who looks like me!" is how a narcissist thinks. This is how a narcissist think everyone thinks.

They just want the first tag lmao

Imagine if a white guy said, "if I call for help in an emergency, I want the first responder to look like me".
To be fair, I’d take an obese man over a woman any day. Though to be fair, I was also a fireman myself, so I would be less likely to need the help, compared to an average person.
Double standards do be crazy
You can look into Bernie Macs joke on black pilots lol
There was an episode of 911 where a racist white guy refused to be treated by a black EMT. The show portrayed it as a bad thing, so I guess there's a huge double standard lmao
I'm out of shape, I don't want firefighters to look like me, I want them to look like those dudes in the fireman calendar.
imagine if a surgeon told a patient "its not my fault that you're in this position" after he fails a surgery
Not really when he fails, but rather refuse to do the surgery. Doing the surgery requires skill and work. And that clearly isn’t why he is there.
It’s more like “I’m not gonna remove your appendix it’s not my fault it failed” because they’re unqualified to even remove it in the first place

They should hire people who are actually qualified for the job. It’s not just about diversity.

- Somehow you link this one chief to the fires across the entire state (which by your own admission is a thing that happens regularly over the years)
Worse than is that she is not willing to .
Black men don't appear to have benefited from DEI. Anyone noticed that?

The Fire Dept doesnt really have the same physical standards for men and women. They lowered the standards so females could pass the physical, then made that the benchmark for men. Thats also why we're seeing more overweight males too. Back in the 90's the police removed the requirement to have a clean criminal record, to get more minorities.

The have drag queen strip clubs, their pretty tolerable of differences, but they don't celebrate the LGBT community, nor do they try to suppress it. Everyone just coexists and lives their lives as they see fit.

Contrast this to the 59 year old Mark Coleman, who carried his mother and father out of a burning building with a broken back, and went in a third time to try and save his dog who alerted him about the fire in the first place. Makes you wonder where these people get off saying you shouldn't put yourself in a position where your house is burning.

I agree with the sentiment. However, I seriously doubt many firefighters, male or female, could lift a 250lb person and carry them to safety solo. Drag them perhaps.

It happens all over the country. I took advanced geography class in college, they taught us small controlled fires are good, but either viewed as not required or dangerous. Most of the public do not understand the nature of large fires and most American houses are built of plywood.

I work in tech where most people are either white or Indian. I had a friend I wanted to apply for a job and so I talked with a hiring manager. When I told him his name I was told, “Oh sorry, we have too many Asian men, we need to hire black men or women right now to balance.” My friend who has a masters degree in CS plus a second undergraduate degree was turned away because of his race, and he’s not a white guy. He’s incredibly smart and I was told too bad, even with me vouching for him they can’t hire him.
He wasn’t hired because of discrimination in the guise of inclusion even though he was extremely qualified. If hiring was based on merit this kind of situation wouldn’t happen, instead it’s focused on balancing numbers.
You should leave that company. I worked for a company that did this where myself and another though about 40 hours of interviews only to have used for to select somebody based on sex. Issue being most of the candidates we were getting were struggling with the interview + tests. Both of us has scores 90% or more on the test and then we are being asked for accepting somebody into the team with 30% test mark and was unable to answer basic questions in the interview. There was 10+ people who scored about 50% who should have been first choice.
We both quit the company about 3 weeks later independently. All this eventually came out because of this. HR tried to back peddle and keep us which made the whole situation worse since it just made them look like they are making up the rules/value system as they go along. What worse when they hire somebody into that position everyone else on the team instantly knows they are the diversity hire and problems get worse for the person cause they often can't handle the load and people get annoyed with them
It's happening even in Germany. It's extremely dumb. As a woman I also wouldn't like to be hired just because of my gender, I would always question my intelligence because of that. That's just straight up insulting.
At its core, this is Marxism. The fundamental Marxist argument is that there are "oppressed" groups and "oppressor" groups. Everything follows from that. Ability is not a factor in determining how "deserving" someone is of consideration. Only group identity.
In 1917, the labels were fixed on economic lines (the working/poor vs the aristocratic/wealthy). Today, it's been reimagined along lines of race/color and sex. It's the same prejudice, masquerading as something "noble".

I thought they were the coolest thing, and decided i wanted to be a firefighter and selflessly save people when I grew up. My mom say me down after a couple months and explained that I would be too short, and it would be very difficult for me to be strong enough to save people without putting myself in extreme danger (which would make her sad). I was upset for a little while, then accepted it. If you're not strong enough to even entertain the idea of dragging a man out of a burning building, accept it.

Firefighters are volunteers in my neck of the woods. We had a 46 kg woman join who couldn't lift the half of the gear. She ended up leaving after she was a part of the crew checking out a dam where the team needed to carry a pump and a bunch of hoses a few km uphill. S/n I’m cool with the “sexist policies” cause baby I don’t want to fight fires and I’m thankful for the men of all colors that do!!!
Actual firefighter here. The first department I worked for decided to overhaul its physical fitness test a few years ago. I was one of the few people randomly selected to test out the new fitness test. Everybody ran the same obstacle course, and they were testing us to see what a good average time would be to set as the standard.
I can tell you that as firemen go, my fitness is very mid range. I assure you I’m not winning any fitness awards. And yet I absolutely dominated that test, as did everyone else who tested it. The problem ended up being that when they implemented the test department wide, it turned out that almost no woman could pass it. That would include veteran firefighters within the department.
so what do you think they did? Well of course, they took every weighted portion of the test and reduced the weight by 30%. Now the women could pass, but the test was an absolute joke. Even morbidly obese guys could and often do pass it.
As for the 400 pound pile of alphabet bubblegum, anyone with an attitude like hers has absolutely no business being in this job. Her words are absolutely disgusting, and believe it or not. She was actually promoted after making that ridiculous statement. And she has never backed off of it.
I was going to include that but I couldn't figure out how to prove that they lowered the standards. The tests weren't simple exercises like someone's deadlift or a mile run and I have never had to chainsaw a box before so I don't know how hard that is.
But if women are passing then obviously they had to lower the standards significantly.

It’s not exactly a fun time, but I’m not “basically crippled” for a week each month, and neither are many other women. I found that I had a distant relative who lost a home he inherited from his mom. It was also the same house my grandparents got married in. Their wedding pictures are now gone with time, and knowing that part of the family, that relative will be unable to rebuild the house because they don't have the resources to do so. There is something sadly ironic about their situation; once voluntarily homeless three decades prior, now he is homeless again. The problem with the insurance situation is that they were predicting this would happen and wanted to increase rates to cover the disaster. But California law makes it so they government has to sign off on insurance premium increases and so they cancelled the plans because they knew they'd go bankrupt when the fire inevitably happened. 4:56 It happened because back in the 1970’s the EPA lobbied to have CA make it so the fire departments couldn’t burn the underbrush every year. They used to do controlled burns of it and that would basically consume the fuel these wildfires use. This means if a fire started it would be easily controlled and put out. Now though, due to the “success” of the EPA preventing this controlled burning, there is basically tons of tinder (dried leaves, branches, twigs, etc.) just sitting on the forest floors to help fuel and spread these fires.

I don't know if anybody knows about this but here in Canada we have something called affirmative action. Basically minorities women and immigrants get priority hiring compared to average canadians. I was told about this during my Canadian law class and when I asked my teacher about it she said it was to make everything fair. Me and a couple of the other boys in class looked at her and I said how is it fair that we are getting punished for something that men hundreds of years ago did. She just looked at me and said no you don't understand we're making it fair. From there on I just shut up because I didn't want my grade to be destroyed.

I reapplied days later out of curiosity and I changed my gender and race to "prefer not to say" while under a different profile. Got an email for an interview offer.

It's illegal for them to do that. If you can prove hiring discrimination then you can sue them for a lot of money.
@ThinkBeforeYouSleepYT I thought about sueing but had no clue where to start with that or if I'd even get far with it since I have no actual written proof. I just figured a rejection letter being "unfit" or "unqualified" is too broad for anyone to claim discrimination. @LeeEverett1 Start filling out job applications as a white guy and then as a minority and document everything.
