I first became aware of this show because of JP and Craig. I learned to love (and understand) all of the McQueens. . .even Myra!! I am happy to see them back from their vacation or wherever they have been. . .;)
JP is cute when he says that the gown Myra bought is hideous. I also like that he goes from telling Phoebe that there isn't anyone worth it to insinuating that Doug is worth it.
When it comes to transformation with this show I think it is one step forward two steps back. Brendan made progress, Ste did change a lot but he have taken some steps backwards,Ruby is changing, I think Steph and Doug are two people that went from bad to good and stayed that way. I love Doug but I still think he is a little crazy under all that nice.
Only on a soap do you attack someone rather than simply ASK them, about something which you are COMPLETELY mistaken. Hell, she could've asked George and none of this would've happened. Underneath it all though, it was sweet thing to do for George.
ice to see the family have a storyline again, hey!! Whoo Hoo!! On a second thought, I thought it was really sad that no one showed more compassion and concern for George. I mean Pheobe tells them he was sexually assulted and not one McQueen asks him if he is ok or offers him help in any way.
Phoebe's not stupid, she's just a kid with a bad past. Like I said before, she and George had a really bad experience involving two people that locked them up to sell them for sex. Luckily, they were rescued before anything happened with George, but I think something did happen to Phoebe. She's been very protective of George since then. She may have got the wrong person and went about it in the wrong way, but her heart was in the right place.
I don't know if I would say he felt superior to Ste or if he just finds it amusing to get under his skin. If you remember the 15-16 year old Ste and how he acted toward everyone, you might see why he would now tend to pick on an adult Ste who carries around yet another attitude, chip on his shoulder and snear to match. From the moment Ste found out JP slept with BB Ste had a problem with JP and then when Doug and JP were attracted to each other it really stirred him up.
(cont.) Although Brendan is behind bars and presumably off the show, I'm still interested in following Ste's story. I'm sorry he felt it necessary to treat George so badly. In his normal state he would never have had sex with George and if he did, he would have been kinder about it's being a one off. George being drunk, ignored that Ste was drunk and grieving. In the morning, being naive and infatuated, he was oblivious to Ste's lack of interest until later in the day Ste made it brutally clear.
I think the answer is a "definite yes and no." ㋡ Some characters have gone from being straight, as far as we knew, to being gay. Doug is the most recent example, and he came out quickly for the sake of being able to be with Ste. Brendan was making progress in becoming a better man. He was highly motivated to stop abusing Ste. George has been a gay virgin, who unfortunately decided to go for it with Ste. Doug was a transformation, Brendan too, though cut short, and George possibly the beginning.
Totally agree with your second paragraph but question whether it's relevant to or excuses JP's treatment of Ste at the school. Ste and Doug came to the school as a favor to JP. JP then turns around and demonstrates to his class that a good way to use your intellect is to make other people feel small, especially when they show up as a favor. I despise that. He humiliated Ste and set a horrible example for his students.
yea Phoebe that's the way to handle things, jump to conclusions and drown all that sorrow with alchohol. I can already feel the downward spiral picking up speed. C'mon George speak up already what's with the secrecy, end all the chatter and questions with your words.
John Paul was off the show, presumably living in Ireland with Craig, I believe. People, including moi, were excited about JP's return. But I couldn't stomach his superior attitude toward Ste and took a break from watching this channel. I know Phoebe has had horrible experiences that contribute to who she is, but I still dislike her. There's a limit to how many unsympathetic characters I can cope with in a show before I abandon it. At least JP wasn't an ass in this episode, so maybe there's hope.

I was so rooting for his transformation & hoping for the rekindling of Stendan without the abuse. So I want to say just let me dislike Phoebe, she's such an amoral sneak. But of course, she thought she was avenging John Paul's abuse of George. So who knows, I may end up rooting for her transformation too. Transformation, however, doesn't appear to be an option for any of the McQueen sisters.

I skip all the parts without John Paul, Doug, or George. I actually like women, just not the McQueen sisters. (I probably shouldn't say that here.) And half the time I can't understand what Myra is saying anyway.
