A question to Mr. Eddie Wu... Could you help me understand the reason why you tilt your torso in Wu style tai chi? What is the reason behind the tilt? And what advantage does it offer you? After all, there is not one single athletic, martial arts, dance or any movement oriented discipline in the world, in the history of mankind, that would not frown upon that tilt. As you might recall from your engineering studies, ie, statics and dynamics, the tilt automatically creates a off-center bias that causes imbalance, which is most likely the reasons why Wu style has such short stances. The way you tilt your torso also means it is virtually impossible for you to generate power without losing balance. I expect you would come back to me by saying that's how the qi flows, etc. But Mr. Wu, I sincerely hope that you, as a trained aerospace engineer, should know that as magical as your qi flow is, the qi flow does not give the physical postures a carte blanche to negate the fundamental principles of statics and dynamics. Thank you for taking my question, and I look forward to learning from you. Best.
