I’ve lost my grand mother in law, two beloved cats, dad, step grand daddy, step dad all in the last two years. I know when it’s my time we will be reunited in God’s kingdom. I can’t wait for that day. I got to thinking the other day; I’m the only man left in my immediate family. It’s a big role to fill. Calling my step grandma, step mom and my mother as often as I can just so I can give them that feeling that the men who come and gone before me gave them with the sound of a voice on the other end of the phone. I’m next brother and that soothes my soul like a violin playing in the wind, like Dixie being whistled from a far.
I hear the song i can see my grandma standing in the doorway smiling when i drive up to visit her, grandpa with a Budweiser in his hand walking up with his dogs to give me a hug. Great cover

This takes me back to the 80s when I was a young teenager. Sundays at Grandma and Grandpas. We all went to their house for Sunday dinner after church. I can smell it cooking still today. Can’t help but smile and tear up thinking about those simpler times

I listen to way different music than this now that I am older, like hip hop and electronica, but I know every word on this album from them and used to dance with my mom spinning in my living room singing “You gotta get me to the church on Cumberland Road!”
This song, too, reminds me of my childhood. Funny we have that in common even though we are so different in real life.

I saw Shenandoah in the 90s at the Clio Amphitheatre in Michigan when I was a boy. This is one of my favorite songs of all time along with the road not taken, ghost in this house and moon over Georgia.. these guys man, legendary. Very under appreciated in my opinion.

Man that is my favorite country song of all time I listen to it at least twice a week it just something about it that takes me back to my childhood and it makes me feel good. I got to say buddy you did an awesome job with it thank you we need more of this kind of music back on the radio today country music in my mind sounds like this. All the stuff being played today is not country music it’s hard to find a radio station that actually plays real country music like this. More artists need to come do stuff like this.

Heath, I gotta tell you man,…I’ve got the cassette of Shenandoah’s album with this song on it in front of me from back when I was a kid and it was new. Man I ain't heard that song in forever. I always loved it when I was a kid and ppl still listened to a old radio it come on a sunday special the station had on our way to church. It always was just one of those songs you feel and you DEFINITELY gave it that! Awesome job!

I remember when my Daddy went to Nam they sent him and our Momma to Hawaii.
We left Alabama headed to North Carolina , i remember when we got there . Grampa had a bunch of Clorox bottles on the porch .
He would cut the front out of the jug and leave the handle . I was the youngest when he got two cut out he tied some string around one .
He looks at me come here boy he tied em perfect to hang around your neck .
Made more for my brother and sister then he took a pair put around his neck .
Gave instructions how to pick blackberries with both hands .
Grand Momma and i hung fer a few and headed back to the house .
Next morning Grand Momma got up made breakfast , i was the first one up and sat in the kitchen watching her.
She started squeezing the juice out of them blackberries no seeds just juice .
She made a big pan of cathead biscuits but I didn't get the BlackBerry juice yet .
We sat down to eat i asked her what do we do with the blackberry juice .
She got up poured me some in a bowl , she began to tell me .
Your Daddy loved this was his morning sweets .
She told me take a biscuit she had buttered , they still had a milk cow now .
I dunked that thang i thought my tongue was going to slap my brains out .
I miss her so much !
