A mechanic with a suspended license? That’s a little ironic
Greg Eh more ironic would be a dmv worker with suspended license
llIIlIIIIIlIlIll juss cause they issue da licenses
Not really. Actually I know a few that do have suspended license. One I know works on all the city and county vehicles so the cops don't mess with them at all. If they do they just tell them "Have a great day see you at the shop later mane!!!"
actually i know alot of mechanics that have expired plates. they literally don't really care
To be honest my experience is people in the auto industry are more likely to have lost it.
I think it's a mix of problems from the value we put on a mechanics to the way the laws are written.

When your mechanic has your car for 3 months you should know that something's not right.
exactly!
You could manufacture a car in less time than thT
To be fair a lot of bmw oem parts come from Germany and the freight shipping is 1-2 mo at times. My car got rear ended and an oem bumper and tail lights took 2 mo.
@@dylan-nguyen Large parts like body panels can take a long time, mechanical parts are typically available locally or ship quickly. A 3:16 it sounded like the car owner said he was waiting on sealants, that's especially fishy. I've had a few customers that have fallen for the backyard mechanic that keeps his car forever for no good reason, when they finally give up and go get their car usually nothing's been done, and in some cases it comes out more broken than it went in then I get to correct the other guy's screwups. When I call them one or two days later and tell them it's ready to go they're always amazed. More importantly, I only drive their vehicles as needed to diagnose issues and verify repairs even tho most of them give me permission to use them at will. Some have even offed to let me have their cars/bikes/RVs/boats for a few days to have fun with, but I typically don't.

Driving a customer car? Sounds like theft to me
After a big job, I drive a customer car instead of mine for a few days to make sure it won’t fail on them before I hand it back. Not sure if that’s what he was doing.
Just driving a customers car isn't illegal. Mechanics have to drive the cars to figure out the issues & they always drive it before handing it back to make sure everythings ok aswell. He should of just said he was test driving the car to shake it down, or he pulled into the lot because he heard a noise w/ the suspension.
But if he took the car after the shop is closed & he's driving it home & around after hours (it's night time in the video)....then there could be a good case for theft. This is likely the case in this video.
@@Name-ev8pr , mechanic admitted he was using car for MONTHS, personal use. Owner SAID No permission was ever granted to drive outside of work. Seems pretty clear he was using car unauthorized another word for theft. You can make up whatever excuse you want, if I was the owner, that pos would be facing charges
@Bruised Toes And Feet , put down your bong and be reasonable. There was no transfer of possession. If you give your car to a mechanic to repair, then reasonably you expect they will test drive it to make sure repairs were made properly, not picking up kids or chicken sandwiches. What state do you live in because I never want to visit your state
@Bruised Toes And Feet once that rental agreement is over then not returning the vehicle is theft
Who dafuq is ok with someone having their car for 3 months??
that is exactly what I was thinking lmao

He had to get the seals that are matched to the VIN number; that is what he apparently told the guy. Seems legit. ::facepalm::
I was waiting to see if anyone was going to bring this up. How can anyone believe that sorry excuse. The owner said he already had it for e months, and the "mechanic" said the job was going to take six months.
Never trust a mechanic that doesn't have their own car.

That was a really friendly cop , laughing & joking around like this nice police officer ! 👍😃🚔
He was driving someone car without permission and no license why was he not arrested?
Mechanics are allowed to drive customers cars, just not for personal use. Many car issues, especially intermittent ones, require a bit of driving to diagnose.
I think this makes it not a clear-cut arrest-able offense. They probably could have given him charges if they wanted to, though.
Brian.... That's what I was wondering too! Strange.
I love when people can laugh with cops honestly they are hated by alot of people but in reality they are just doing there jobs so give them a break

@@thomashughes_teh The driver claims to be a mechanic, so he either works at a shop or in his home garage.

I now see why my ex-friend spends the whole day at the auto shop waiting for his car to be fixed!
Talk about someone jonesing for a chicken sandwich 😱
Too all saying he should be charged with theft let me explain. He can’t be charged with theft because he didn’t technically steal it. However since he did not have permission to use it in the manner he was, it can be considered unauthorized use of a vehicle ( this is typically a state jail felony). This is similar in nature to a theft but without a “theft” actually occurring to gain possession and or use of the vehicle.
Honestly that cop was way too nice to him. They said he had driving with sus license and two unpaid tickets for the same crime. They should have arrested him and charged him with that even if he was not operating a customers vehicle with perms. If I was that cop he would be in overnight.
@@SpeedSeekerMoto well the thing abt tht is youhave to have 5 or more to be considered a habitual offender which compounds it into a felony. Anything below 5 they will write you a citation but in court on your 3rd they give you 10 days your 4th they give you 3 months after tht it's a year or better. But they won't take you to jail from the streets on your 3rd. I have 3 also and did 10 days just at the end of last year so I actually know the process
Ethan your right it is but that unlawfully poss has to be pushed by the customer if he doesn't press charges usually the state won't either, and it def is a class 1 felony so he got lucky
He was just test driving it 😂😂
I thought he was honest from the beginning, about not owning the vehicle and also not having DL. So I was surprised the cop told the owner something else even after he said he knew he had to drive it for inspection.

“He’s a specialist in driving them around”-.- nigha how was that funny
Mr Longhorn because the bum driving a bmw he didn’t own got caught 😬😎
In other words, the guy's knowledge of BMWs was limited to driving them, not fixing them. A specialist would likely work for BMW, this guy probably works off craiglist or kijiji. It's not comedy club material, that's for sure, but it has its merits. Just a reminder, this officer wasn't wondering if his jokes would be satisfactory to the Mr. Longhorn critiquing him on TH-cam in the future. Does every attempt at humour you make have everyone falling on the floor laughing? Food for thought.

Why would a mechanic be driving around a client's car for personal use
Y did he have to make it seem soo bad

Kind of a grey area really. Sure the cop had the right of way but he didn't when they made the turn. I'm not gonna wait for the guy around the corner. You don't matter yet.
Rule number one in owning a car, always get it worked on at a place with a good reputation. And once you find a good mechanic stick with them and build a relationship. Shady auto techs a dime a dozen, and trying to save a few bucks will usually end up costing more in the long run. I heard too many horror stories. "He suppose to be the bmw specialist" lol
Never trust a mechanic who's git a suspended license. _3 months?!_

How do you know he wasn't just getting mashed potatoes and biscuits?
why would he call the customer.. he basically snitched on himself..
Either you call the customer to confirm your story or the car is stolen, simple as that
Depending on the type of repair a mechanic might need to drive the vehicle to help diagnose a problem or determine the problem has been fixed properly. He should've claimed that to be the case to the officer and then add he driven far enough and was turning around in that parking lot.
That's what technicians do.
