    Nice legacy... mine was built in the 1980s by a retired architect. I've kept the spirit of his work while adding elements of my own.

    The little Class 14 sure is an interesting little thing. I may have to see if i can find one of those. I have long been a fan of the Class 37's. Even over here in the states the 37's are well known.

      Thanks for the compliment! It is a bit of a mish mash and def not a professional set up be we love tinkering with it. Sadly we haven't had it set up since this video was made so need to find some space and get it out again!

      How did you make the hill in the layout? What material? I am looking to build a layout myself for the 2'6" Hill Railways in India.

    Cant believe that this is only 2 x 4 . You have managed to get so much in to that space. I'm just starting out with N gauge..and like everything I do I'm researching the whole thing very thoroughly before I spend my hard earned money. I'm not even sure how much room I'm going to have yet, but this video has shown me what can be achieved with even a modest amount of space.

      Thanks! There is an update with in the next week or so! New cable car xmas pres, Cambrian Express, refurbished class 31 with Chinese wheels fitted courtesy of B.R. Lines and I have re laid the track on a finer white sand which is reminiscent of the sandstone Ballast used in Derbyshire. We have added another line to the shunting yard and higher boarding on the back + a few other bits :)

    For some reason the fact that both your main trains are going in the same direction (instead of opposite) bothers me - not that that's important, it's your layout. Like others, amazed what you have going on in a small layout. Very well done!

    • @milgeekmedia
      @milgeekmedia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't mean this as a criticism at all! Like the previous poster said it's a 'weird aesthetic'. Kudos to a great layout.

      Hi, We are not pros if you know what I mean, but just did it for fun. My Grandad built the board for a mini marklin so yes a bit small really, I think 4ft long is recommended, Thanks :)

    Is that DC or DCC? If DC, how many controllers do you use and where do you put the feeder track? PS: You could fit another station on the other side of the loop to give the feel of your trains actually going on a journey.

    I really like this layout. For a 2x4 ft. space you have crammed a great deal of operational choices. Good switching potential with an area to leave a consist for pickup on an interchange track. I want to build an n scale
    layout but have only enough space to build a 28x50 inch layout. Just slightly bigger than yours. I have looked at many 2x4ft layouts and none really gives me the flexibility of track layout and landscaping that yours does. Any possibility of obtaining your track plan? I do see some changes I would make for my rendition of how I would run the railroad and not be an exact copy, but your overall layout is just GREAT!!!

      @redhotfireball8052  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Alan, Have you seen the updated track? The link is at the end of this video and is on this channel. I only put it together twice a year because it takes the dinning room table and Mum gets fed up. Every time we set it up we make changes. The bridge and hill lift off and go in a separate box due to space issues.

    What radius are the curve. As I am going to build a n gauge layout in a 2ft x 4ft

    • @redhotfireball8052
      @redhotfireball8052  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1&2 off the top of my head. Definitely the tightest curves if that makes sense. Just remember the big steam locos don't go around 1 radius very well or even not at all. The small steam locomotive is ok hence why I have them on the outer radius.

    nice layout. what size board is this, and what radius curves have you used? I'm starting to plan my layout.

    • @redhotfireball8052
      @redhotfireball8052  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Gareth, Sorry about the delay, I have been away. My Grandad built the board (2ftx4ft) for a z gauge in the 80's and its a bit small for N but I did add 80mm to get the extra shunting yard and station. It comprises of radius 1 and 2 but the steam locos with tenders do not go around radius 1 very well (especially the points) hence the extra yard. I will be doing another video soon because it has changed since this video and I got my hands on a cable car. I would have liked a the trains to go up and over on a bridge but not enough space so I would try and incorporate this. It does store well though at this size but 6ftx3ft much better! Don't forget to pva the track down and sprinkle on the fine granite while wet but be very careful with the points. Good look!
