Its a tragedy these have not been collected in omnibus format. Actually its a a tragedy these have never been reprinted at all! Thanks for the video, I loved this series by Marvel, Roy and Big John!
Big Tarzan fan. Burroughs is my favorite author with REH coming close second. I think I have that whole Marvel run. It was the insertion of the Jewels story that I didn't care for, interrupting the story flow. Jewels is one of my favorite Tarzan novels.
Im into Edgar Rice Burroughs 1977 to 1979 was a golden age completely love the John Carter and Tarzan series you can present this in his own continuity since characters in Tarzan were also on Marvel's Earth 616
I was working as a freelance researcher for Marvel and was given the task of researching and putting together the contents for an omnibus for Dynamite Comics since they held the rights to the character. Still waiting for Dynamite Comics to produce the omnibus....
Sub-Mariner was a baby, Dominic Fortune was active, and Orson Randall was Iron Fist, meanwhile Wolverine was a boot legger, and the Raw Hide Kid was an old man during Tarzan's time in the Marvel Universe.
Both the DC and Marvel runs of Tarzan were fun. But I really enjoyed Marvel's John Carter of Mars series. Tarzan stories can be interesting, but John Carter always seemed more interesting to me. I especially liked the Carson of Venus series DC started, but it only got a few stories in before being cancelled, barely beginning the adaptation of the first novel.
@@JSB1882 Good catch! Barcodes were patented in the 50s and put into use in stores in the early 70s. I just looked through my old comics and the earliest I saw barcodes on Marvel comics was June 1976 on Conan 63, which had Conan fighting an evil version of Tarzan.
@@doberg3191 Yeah, I’m sure there’s an interesting story in why that solicitation exists. Maybe someday someone will put it out for real, but Dark Horse has had nearly 30 years to come out with a collection of this run so it seems doubtful.
It drives me crazy that an "Tarzan: the Buscema Years" omni has been on Amazon for possibly over a decade and Dynamite keeps pushing it back. Now it says it was 696 pages and was published in January of this year. It wasn't! I don't get what they're even doing putting it up on Amazon, except maybe trying to mess with people. Either put it out or take it down, Dynamite.
@@burningdaylights it appears to be something that got lost in the cracks years ago and it just continues as a zombie listing on retailer and distributor websites. There’s quite a few of them out there like that for various products on the internet. You can always report it to Amazon.
"Priestess yet a woman ", I love how in the past you could have erotica but in an intelligent way, instead of just crudely stating that she wants him. We've lost that subtlety in current pop culture - just look at female rappers and TV shows in general .
Finally, the two Tarzan L’Homme Singe bd volumes for Glenat are going to be released rather late this year. Hopefully, Both will be better made than the two boring flops that Editions Soleil released in 2021.

As a kid these were some of my favorites. Thanks for the flashback man!
I have the whole marvel run and a lot of the DC run. These were amazing comics. Loved these as a kid.

I just got through ranting about it. Dynamite has been promising an omni for around a decade.

Todd that Tarzan #1 is in great condition!
Marvel did the right thing by starting Tarzan over with a new number one.
Good video. Just subscribed. Hope someday we get this Tarzan collection.

It would be interesting to compare this run by Roy Thomas to The ERB strip Dark Horse put out a couple of years ago.
@@cgb1966 What strip? “Once and Future Tarzan” in Dark Horse Presents or something else?
@@ToddLuck actually it’s Roy Thomas and Pablo Marcos’ Tarzan of the Apes, released in an omnibus by Dark Horse.

Besides the price I'm surprised that they had bar codes in 1977!

thanks, Todd are you familiar with Farmer's Wold-Newton universe? he connects all the pulp hero's in one large family.
@@MarshOakDojoTimPruitt I’ve heard of it but I haven’t read Farmer’s works.
Very intriguing that. I read about it in Tarzan Alive.
They have been soliciting the English omnibus for several years (from what I know it was first listed back in March 2018 with a release date of June)
