Day 7 (7/29) - Highwood, Montana Harvest

  • Day 7 began with thinking it was gonna be a good day.
And, in the long run, it was. No humans were hurt while experiencing this day.
The equipment, though, was another thing. Within 1/2 hour’s time, every machine was stopped for one reason or another. And both tractors were included in the fun.
    It’s harvest…
Kudos to Katie for ALL of the drone footage!!!!

I drove wheat truck in eastern Washington for a couple of summers for a farmer who grew certified wheat seed. Did rouging too and other chores. This was during my sophomore and junior years of highschool
. This brought back lots of memories. Thanks for your hard work!!

You and Jim found a real strong wheat growing operation to work for. Betchya you have learned a lot from those guys. It takes super management to keep all that equipment, manpower, trucks, bins, and to feed everyone all those meals, all operating as smoothly as they do it. Very impressive--Great videos and photography! I pull my hair out with just one of everything including an employee (my son). Some guys are just great managers of resources to get the job done, and this outfit is.

I agree with you! This is a well-oiled machine! Super efficient and hard workers. We used to hire one person years ago. That was enough for us. I don’t know how the larger custom harvester does it. Or the large farmers. We have been truly blessed with this adventure!

Thanks for another awesome video Tracey and everyone!!!!!
Sorry for the breakdowns. Guess each combine took its turn. That deer antler really messed up that big tire-wow. It appears that the other combines were not down too long which was good. You all got everything going and back to harvest.
Thanks to Jesse James mom for the additional video-good job. The drone footage was once again real interesting. Believe you said there was 175 foot of header’s going across the field-interesting fact there.
Thanks for the video of the unloading process and the equipment they use. I found that most interesting. Busy place, one truck after another. Lots of wheat for storage!!!!!!!!!
I missed the food table but I know they feed you all real good there. I saw all the many coolers lined up in the morning before going to the field. Wow.
The wheat you were cutting Tracey along the edge of the field was so amazingly thick and beautiful!!!!!!!!! Lots of production there.
The amazing factor here is all the management it takes to make everything work, I.e., the combines, grain carts, trucks and food and all the other things that support this harvest community!!!!!! My compliments to whoever is the master there!!!!!!!
Another day done out in your beautiful country!!!!! As always, thank you for all you do for us folks riding along.
Take care and be safe. Looking forward to tomorrow’s episode.
