As someone who likes staying in a 1 bedroom, I'm so happy about this. Hoping it makes 1 bedrooms even easier
Let me see. 2 million points for sale @ $250+ per point, adds up to over 1/2 a billion minimum in cash influx for Disney. Even with the cost of updating the rooms, Disney stands to make 100's of millions without having to build another new resort. The Grand Floridian is the Crown Jewel of the Disney resorts. Lots of DVC members would love to stay there, if only one time, just to say they've been there. It will be tough getting a room in the begining, but I'm sure it will open the chance to stay at other DVC Resorts. As a DVC Member since 1992, I've seen every new resort open. Since I'm at Key West, all the others come imto play at 7 months. With the exception of the Beach Club, I can pretty much book anything I want at 7 months. With a little bit of planning, if you really want to stay at the Grand Floridian, I truly feel you'll be able to do so. Remember, Disney does not do things for our benefit. Their bottom line is profit, profit, and more profit !!!

I love this, not going to claim I directly called this, but a month or two ago when the gang was talking about the concerns with how the DVC is going to add stock... I figured they'd convert existing rooms. It's cheaper, quicker, and adds rooms without a lot of effort. DVC "improvements" had happened at every other MK resort except Grand Floridian. It just made sense. Now, will this increase non-GL owner's success rates of snagging a room there? Nope! But it'll raise our hopes for sure.

I WAS SOOOOOOOO READY to Buy There and I LOVED THE CONCEPT! I really hope and pray the concept of Reflections and the Cabins stays the same! Until then my money is staying in my pocket holding out for REFLECTIONS!!!
I believe they eventually will have to build reflections in order for DVC to grow once we get past the next year or too. Then they can’t blame limited availability on a build up of points due to non use during the covid crisis.

I think these new VGF will sell if they don't have RR restrictions. If they are in same association I as someone who doesn't do Studios but once I buy into VGF I could book at 11 mos any accommodation.

Now if they would just add 200 studios in the Grand Californian at Disneyland DVC might have renewed popularity and more customer satisfaction, for sure.
Great alternative , the rules should match (as far as resale restriction )to the original 14 . If I add on again I’d do it there.
They needed to do this at Poly, not Grand Floridian.

Amazing news!!! Please discuss at the next DVC group talk with Pete. Can you also address whether it’s worth buying a GF resale contract if there are so many studios available which should in theory make the 7-month window more viable? I had my eye on Bay Lake because it’s much tighter to book unless you have the 11-month window.

Didn't Disney turn in paperwork for permits awhile ago and people thought they would be redoing all the rooms with IP theme like they did at Poly? I'm guessing those permits were actually for this!
I think they still plan to do a refurbishment of the entire hotel side... Not 100% sure though.

I expect sooner rather than later... We also will likely see bookings start before too long.
Could this also be a nice way to help DVC members find rooms for all these unused banked points if they have not or will not be traveling again this year?
I would expect them to sell these as cash inventory before they declare rooms publically. So, unfortunately, I'm not sure it will help with that problem.

More availability? Yes - But also more members fighting for that availability.
Grand Floridian is not my cup of tea. Now if they would just add more DVC Studios to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
