@@PRESIDENT_LEMON The double bladed lightsaber is actually more limited than a standard lightsaber. It requires longer swinging motions and gives less range unless one blade is turned off. four years later and this is still the most epic lightsaber duel on the web. Out of curiosity, Ryan Wieber is this all free style or are these actual forms of lightsaber combat?
I don't even know where you would look up "established" lightsaber "forms". Just like Nick Gillard said of the real movies, saber choreo is just a big blend of anything and everything. Any adherence to forms that somebody previously codified is entirely coincidental.
There are stances and certain movements depending on the are you look with the book of Jedi being the best bet but nothing concrete in terms of lightsaber forms the real question you should be asking is where can I donate to make R V B & D happen in the coming months
Ryan Wieber There are 7 forms of traditional lightsaber combat. Shii-Cho, Makashi, Soresu, Ataru, Shien/Djem-So, Niman and Juyo/Vaapad. All 7 forms are unique in their own way and all Jedi specialise in 1 or several of these forms. Obi-Wan for example trained in Ataru whilst under the guidance of Qui-Gon (Very noticeable in Episode 1) and after his death opted for Soresu, the most defensive of the forms. Count Dooku was a Makashi user, the dueling based style, and Anakin was a Shien/Djem-so master, focusing on heavy power attacks and swift counters to the opponents blade. In short, yeah there are predetermined lightsaber stances and styles and nearly all jedi/Sith follow one particular style
narutosneaky Indeed, and basically all forms are usable excluding Force-section from 'em of course. For example I use Soresu mainly as I have to be kinda stationary in combat (I'm on wheelchair), but I adapt Shi-Choo attacks and flurrys on my offensive and mix some Makashi for exhausting duels. Where for example my brother uses Shien and Djem-so (could say that also Vapaad as he gets so deep into the battle when he duels) basically all the time, runnin' and jumping and trying to overwhelm opponents before they can defend ;) So yeah, they're usable and effective. (Tried against my friend who practices traditional swordsmanship)
Christina Black Ya, there's established forms from the SW universe, but I've never been able to track down what they actually look like. All I've found is text descriptions of them and their strengths/weaknesses. However, if one were to extrapolate from existing martial arts in order to gain an idea of how to best use a lightsaber, your best bet would be to start with either Japanese Kenjutsu or European longsword fencing. Those swords are closest to the lightsaber: they are long-bladed, cutting AND thrusting, and they don't have much in the way of hand guards (why DON'T lightsabers have handguards anyways? XD).
That one-take exchange at the end is what makes this the best duel if not best swordfight of all time. Nobody, not even Hollywood, has ever filmed a sword sequence like that.

11 years later and this still goes hard. The duel blades at 2:26 was probably the best work I've scene for a dual blade. Solid amount of speed for offense and defense. Very well done 👏👏👏
I'd always wondered why they'd never had anyone turning their light sabre off in the middle of a clinch [1:39] and then turn it back on again. It's one of the unique elements of a sword that can be turned on and off to make it a different kind of sword fight. Kudos for doing it.
Me to. One thing however I always wondered ( that hasn't been done so far, as far as I know): Why not building kinda a hidden blaster mechanism into the bottom of a one sided lightsaber?
That is actually technique in the starwars universe to turn on a saber in the middle of strike then turn it on again after you have bypassed a enemies block.
The boss comes in and says the following: "How many time did I tell you not to lightsaber duel in the shop. You are damaging the equipment and it's expensive. You're both fired." LOL
12 years later and this still holds up extremely well. The amount of time, effort, and skill that went into making these is incredible and each one of them is a masterpiece in their own right.
+Faaa313 that wouldn't stop a lightsaber, as their destructive power does not come from vibrations or kinetic energy. I lightsaber will always cut the same way, no matter how fast it is going, but neither a sword or a bullet can cut unless it is travelling at a sufficient velocity. I don't know about adamantium, but vibranium definitely could not hold up for a second against a lightsaber.
***** that is an excellent point. But I believe that deals with the ability of a substance to withstand intense heat, not the cutting power of the lightsaber itself. That was an immensely thick door, meant to absorb explosive and energy discharges. But elements like vibranium do not draw their strength from their ability to withstand heat. Vibranium reflects kinetic energy; lightsabers produce sufficient heat to burn through anything except themselves; thus, a lightsaber does not introduce kinetic energy in its attempt to destroy its target, therefore the special characteristic that metals like vibranium have would be useless against a lightsaber. THAT BEING SAID: that is my personal explanation for why the canon characteristics of vibranium would not be sufficient to withstand a lightsaber hit. However, in the Avengers, we clearly see vibranium holding its own against Iron Man's energy blasts, not to mention the Chitauri's weapons. So it may be the Captain America's *shield* can withstand energy bursts--not sure why or how--but i don't think that just a plain vibranium table can.
Jiří Studnička Obi-Wan vs. Grevious fight would have been much better if it was longer. Kenobi just disarmed his opponent almost instantly and the conclusion of this fight wasn't very spectacular since Grevious was shot instead of having been killed with a lighsaber.
Have you seen Ryan's IMDB page? He has tons of stuff under his belt and has already worked at Lucas Arts. Perhaps he will be lead compositor for Episode 7.
john mellor I don't mean to be rude about him, but does that mean that he does better in Lightsaber duels? Cos the guy's lost every duel on TH-cam he's been in.
It was because of these 2 guys and thier whole crew of peeps working on stuff for us to watch and enjoy that I had decided to buy everything from video copilot, and a few sound programs to make my own videos. It takes time to do, but more if ya don't know what to do, like me lol. I'm watching this 6 Years after the release, this brought me back to childhood and, this is the most epic lightsaber duel on TH-cam and It reminds me the good old time, still really Nice to watch.
@1:55 "You Fool, I have Trained in the Jedi Arts by Count Dookuuu..."
Hello there!
1:35 he literally used the forbidden turning off the lightsaber technique xD
Only forbidden for jedi, sith love doing sneaky stuff like that!
Darth Treya was a master of that technique. It's extremely advanced most sith would avoid it due to how dangerous it was if Done wrong
@@GreaterGrievobeast55But I thought that even the Sith frowned upon the use of Trakatta, for they saw it as weak and cowardly. 🤔
This is better dueling than the entirety of Disney Star Wars, and this was made 13 years ago, bravo gents
*Stay tuned for "Ryan vs. Brandon 3: Attack Of The Wieber Clones!"*
Robin Hood One can dream
One of the highest quality fan made light saber fights I've seen yet
eight years later and this is still the best lightsaber fight i’ve watched on youtube
These Ryan Vs. ___ were my jam back in my younger days. You guys should be very proud of how well these aged, they look fantastic and they are still some of the absolute best pieces of lightsaber choreography ever made. Thanks for making a very special part of my childhood and I hope you guys are doing well wherever you are
You know, I’ve been watching these ever since I was 10 years old maybe & I LOVE how these guys just ROCK the plain tee shirt style every time haha!
4:23
"This is getting out of hand! Now there are THREE of them!!
Here's a challenge for ya Ryan. Make one where you, Brandon and Mike (Dorkman) all fight free for all. Nerdgasm
That is actually technique in the starwars universe to turn on a saber in the middle of strike then turn it on again after you have bypassed a enemies block.
evan stokely
Yeah, you can clearly see that tecnique being utilized in the Star Wars: The old Republic's 2011 cinematic trailer
And this is called Tràkata ;)
The ending explains how Ryan always comes back.
Han pasado 8 años desde la vez que yo vi éste vídeo y me sigue pareciendo de los mejores que hay en youtube 👌🏻
Timeless I first saw his videos maybe about 14 or 15 years ago. This is better than what you get on the movies.
2.1k dislikes are people who are jealous that they can't do this kind of dueling.
Edit: 10 years later, still better than Sequel trilogy duel's

And It's going viral
Did you?
3:28 the first ever attempt at ending your opponent rightly
TheGinginator14 i
But there is no pommel! but I get it.
This saber fight ages like a fine wine and it still holds up to the day
The table at "0:55" is made of what? Beskar (Mandalorian iron)? xD
Mateus Magalhães It's a cortosis work bench.
Yeah.
Ryan Wieber It's not cortosis, the lightsaber did not short out after contact
Mateus Magalhães Doesn't have to be pure cortosis.
THAT BEING SAID:
that is my personal explanation for why the canon characteristics of vibranium would not be sufficient to withstand a lightsaber hit. However, in the Avengers, we clearly see vibranium holding its own against Iron Man's energy blasts, not to mention the Chitauri's weapons. So it may be the Captain America's *shield* can withstand energy bursts--not sure why or how--but i don't think that just a plain vibranium table can.
Better than actual Star Wars fights.
It's completely original fight, but it's not better than Obi-Wan vs. Grievous, Obi-Wan vs. Vader (On Mustafar) - simply all fight from Prequels.
Jiří Studnička Obi-Wan vs. Grevious fight would have been much better if it was longer. Kenobi just disarmed his opponent almost instantly and the conclusion of this fight wasn't very spectacular since Grevious was shot instead of having been killed with a lighsaber.
Better than any thing episodes 4-6 had to offer. But not as good as any thing from episodes 1-3.
Azrael095 Don't forget, he was weakened by Windu which was why he was coughing throughout the movie.
I so agree with you man. I love seeing people from around the web make their own star wars light saber fights for some reason. So much cooler
Me and my brother when there's only one slice of pizza left
So relatable
Why wouldn't you just split it with a lightsaber?
Yep.
11 years later and it’s still mandatory is watch this vid annually
The best use of duel wielding I have ever seen. Also I love Brandon’s use of djem so. Might’ve not been intentional but it was fantastic to watch
Someone get these guys in touch JJ Abrams, stat!
UNREAL! That was fantastic!
Dope
Have you seen Ryan's IMDB page? He has tons of stuff under his belt and has already worked at Lucas Arts. Perhaps he will be lead compositor for Episode 7.
Yep it was these videos got them work in the VFX industry. Wieber works on The Walking Dead adding digital zombies. Lucky bastard!
john mellor I don't mean to be rude about him, but does that mean that he does better in Lightsaber duels? Cos the guy's lost every duel on TH-cam he's been in.
12 years later still the best lightsaber fight on the web
I used to watch these when i was younger and they blew me away.....they still do
1:55 This is the moment Ryan became General Wieberus
Star Wars Fan Film with Iron man Music 😂😁👍👍👍
True af
Like to agree.
These duels are better than the duels in the movies.
25 years of movie fights, tv show fights, and fan fights, and NOTHING has topped this! Not even Anakin vs Obiwan's ROTS Fight
Nearly nine years have passed and this is still the best lightsaber duel on the internet!! 🤣😱
It was because of these 2 guys and thier whole crew of peeps working on stuff for us to watch and enjoy that I had decided to buy everything from video copilot, and a few sound programs to make my own videos. It takes time to do, but more if ya don't know what to do, like me lol. I think at one time or another I've downloaded all of these and watched them over and over to find the best places to edit all of the camera angles, and transition effects. Thanks for keeping it up on the big TH-cam. ✌
Almost forgot the dude in red....Smallville....😊
I know it's weird but, I always watch this vid every two years
That's not weird I literally literally watch this everyday.
I have a problem.
These homemade starwars battles were always amazing the attention to detail when they hit an object and it sears through I LOVE ITTT❤❤❤
He could have finished him at 2:40
Collin Rank and 2:03 and 2:09
@Sabian Velazquez Yeah, He needs him!
It's not the Jedi way
Wouldn’t be the Jedi way
Destroying the Sith is not the Jedi way? No wonder they lost.
9 years of awesomeness
still the best lightsaber duel
This looks like Kylo Ren vs Young Obi Wan 😂
Well if you’ve Battlefront...
Young Kylo Ren VS Mid Ep 1 and 2 Obi Wan
I LOVE the lightsaber twirl at 1:55. The sound effects here are so on point. It looks so intense and dangerous!
Nearly a decade later and this fight still slaps
Not bad! But seriously, Ryan, is there a single lightsaber duel you actually win? LOL
to be fair, in most movies bad guys win if fought fairly, so for the good guys to win *hence the blue lightsaber* some miraculous thing will let them win in one move
RIP Ryan, for the third time
Bruhticus 4th. He died in both fights with Dorkman and both fights with Brandon. I don't care what anyone says about his first fight with Dorkman, Ryan died.
@@Spellshot693 Yet he really won in the end because of his Clones ;)
