I am curious to know what PBGs wife thinks when she walks into the room when he's playing with the action figures like he did with the Donkey Kong figures.
Honestly it probably doesn’t happen much, he probably tells her when he’s planning on filming so she doesn’t interrupt the shoot.

I love how Austin’s start as a TH-camPoop creator has never stopped being a part of his brand. It’s a constant presence in his videos and is honestly really comforting for some reason.
Wait! He didn’t make TH-cam poops. Closest I could think of is the bit in the Zelda CDI video. If anything he’s gotten more and more random as the years go on.
(Do correct me if I’m wrong, though. I was a viewer starting back in 2012 but I’m not well versed in PBG lore)

I've always adored sleazy-looking skinny Mario from the early '80s. He looks like he's about to tell you to keep on truckin'.
Since Donkey Kong was inspired by the Popeye's arcade game, Mario's 80s design holds a similar style to Popeye.
Mario in that time looked more like Gilbert Gottfried with a mustache

Awesome video, PBG! I actually loved the DK Country show as a kid. My mom used to cut up bananas and add peanut butter to each slice as I rooted for Donkey to protect the crystal coconut from the Kremlings. Good times lol.

Huge donkey Kong fan, and that first pog you had was a character named Manky kong. He's one of the enemies from the first game that throw barrels at you.
Apparently he's supposed to be a manifestation of addiction as his introduction in some text indicates that once he threw a barrel he never stopped. That's why he looks so deranged lol.
Anyway, absolutely need to have that game though! Never knew it existed, but now that I do I need it.

@@buhgingo2933 unfortunately I don't have access to the actual text itself, but it was a verified account on Twitter showing this off. It's the weirdest thing, my assumption is that somebody writing the actual piece down just wanted to make a blurb to make him sound cool, but just didn't know the actual backstory of the character.
To be honest, the donkey Kong franchise is all full of weird contradictions. But that's why I love it lol. So many things can be about a single character.

For how involved I was in the board game industry for a few years, it never ceases to amaze me how many licensed games I've never even heard of from this channel alone. Also, PoGs are amazing and they were totally valuable, do not question the capitalist lords.

This video helped me realize that POGs were the 90's equivalent of NFTs.

fun fact about the history of Pogs:
Long ago when milk was delivered to houses in bottles, under the lids they had pieces of cardboard, under the lid to keep it sealed. People would collect these and companies even started putting pictures on them to make them "collectable". Eventually people made a game out of it by stacking these "caps" and hitting them with the lids, any that showed the picture up, you'd keep. In the 90's it made a huge breakout, and then became outlawed in schools as kids would keep hurting themselves with the "lids" and the popularity faded.

Japanese issues aside, the cartoon board game looks less like a board game and more like a complex restaurant menu. I can see this being the layout of some fancy Chinese place menu.

There’s actually a version of that Donkey Kong board game from the mid-80’s that was made using cards so that the girders could actually get wider. The Flip The Table podcast covered it back in one of their early episodes. I got to play it with them at a board game convention in 2019 and it was surprisingly fun for how simple it is.
