    I love my Ursus.
    My Comments
    • This is a medium / large size fixed blade hunting knife which feels very sturdy in the hand.
    • Spear point of blade is on centerline of handle for easy drilling tasks.
    • Edge grind is very even on both sides and is very sharp.
    • No thumb jimping on the blade spine.
    • Blade spine edges are very squared off and are quite crisp for fire striker use. The spine edges at the ricasso area have been rounded for safe comfortable thumb placement.
    • Blade spine and tang is slightly curved (almost straight back) with edges flush to scales.
    • The palm swells and rounded corner edges of the handle are very comfortable. Flat neutral grip angle. The matte linen micarta is very smooth, almost too smooth.
    • The very smooth linen micarta does not provide very good grip when dry. It’s better when wet. May need to sandblast scales to produce a rougher surface finish to avoid slipping forward on the handle.
    • The Dangler style Kydex sheath is well-made. The Ferro Rod locks into its holder to prevent loss.
    • Kydex sheath blade retention is quite stiff and non-adjustable.
    • The thumb contact ‘push-off’ area on the sheath (used to extract the knife) is quite thin. This causes a bit of acute thumb pain when extracting the knife.

I have the DLT exclusive version in 3V and I love it just as much as you do. It's one of my go-to recommendations for an all-around belt/camp knife. Gifted one to my brother and his family for camping and they love it too.

Wild, I was just scrolling through youtube while sitting here with my Ursus with the same handle, not searching for white river or knives or anything, and this video came up on my recommended. Thanks for the video, I love this knife.

Just getting sucked into knife youtube, we have a strong contender for my first knife. I'm not an intense camper so I think this would cover all my bases, along with the strong reputation of their knives, and the beautiful craftsmanship.
Even if I don't use it for periods of time, it's still a piece of art that will be ready to get back outdoors whenever I am.

I have the same one in black burlap. Great knife! I also have their backpacker smaller knife. Same quality. DLT has, or did have a 3V exclusive version. I would've grabbed one, but I already have the S35 version. I'm ok with S35 though, It's a good steel. Not the very best, but far from the worse. I really like the knife!

They use to come with leather sheaths and had a hammer forgeding look before the grind started. I might order the kydex sheath for mine

This on Vanadis 4 Extra or Ballbearing steel, would be AWESOME. It's still great, because steel is the last factor in terms of importance. I'm just a user not a collector, and those steels I mentioned, are THE best I've ever had, on fixed blade knives.

I purchased it today. My first bushcraft knife. I’ll make
sure to use this in the field. Won’t buy me another till this fails or I learn what a true bushcraft knife must be capable of. From the reviews and an older comment from you I decided to get this lol. Thank you 😊

My 3.5 Hunter is a great smaller belt knife. I use it all the time. Very nimble and light feeling in the hand.

As for the edge, it's not very sharp. It couldn't even cut normal paper in a vertical cut and you had to adjust diagonaly. Even if it did cut vertical, it's still a normal paper and not phonebook paper, which is the proper paper to test an edge sharpness.

Edge out of the box, is a collectors thing. Users, should ALWAYS put a proper edge on their knives, before first use, to not only make them work properly, but to begin removing the "burnt" steel, the fatigued steel, those factory belts create on mass produced knives.
I sharpen knives for living, since the early 90's. Edges, need at least 3 full sharpening sessions, before they show what they can provide, in terms of edge retention AND edge stability, which is even more important! That's why most people complain, about knives that their edges chip, or roll. It's a users error, most of the times,. Even removing the burr properly after sharpening, can provide 100 times more edge retention, than if you don't.

When I see people, saying that knife sucks or the other, because the edge chiped in first use, I always want to hit my head in the wall, because it happens so often and it is obviously the user, who doesn't even know the basics, rather than the knife itself (in most cases),because there is also the very small chance, of an unsuccesful heat treatment or a poor geometry, poor sharpening job, or even all of these.but that's rare),
