That’s a really excellent point - it’s part of the reason why WoW still looks great to this day. There’s undoubtedly been so many graphical improvements, but we don’t really notice it because it kept the same tone throughout. And a consequence of not really noticing it, despite there being improvements is that it doesn’t age - best analogy is like Porsche.
One thing that I have been wanting for years now is zones to be expanded and made bigger. Now with dragon riding, you can get across zones way too quick. It doesnt feel like a world anymore. What this video looks like is exactly that. Vast, big zones that would take long to get across on foot and just a bit quicker with dragon riding.
I think like you, the areas of Dragonflight and The War Within are very large but socially empty of players. Dynamic flight no longer allows players to meet each other, I always found that flight somehow killed social interactions between players. I've been playing WOW since Vanilla and I liked the simple land mount, with the flying mounts no one sees anyone anymore, it's a shame...

Imagine this - these could be the graphics for a single player console game. **Thrall: The Warchief's Journey** **Plot:** * **Early Life:** Begin as Thrall, a young orc gladiator forced to fight for his life in the arena. Uncover your true heritage as the son of Durotan, the noble chieftain of the Frostwolf clan. * **Escape and Rebellion:** Escape captivity and seek out the remnants of the Frostwolf clan, scattered across the world. Rally the surviving orcs to resist the tyranny of the Iron Horde. * **The Gathering Storm:** Journey to the Broken Isles to find the legendary Doomhammer, a powerful artifact that could turn the tide of the war. Face off against legendary foes like Garrosh Hellscream and Gul'dan. * **Warchief and Savior:** Unite the orc clans under your leadership and lead them to victory against the Iron Horde. Become the rightful Warchief of the Horde and secure a future for your people. **Key Features:** * **Dynamic Combat:** Engage in brutal orcish combat with a focus on powerful abilities and strategic gameplay. * **Character Progression:** Customize Thrall's abilities and gear as he grows in power and experience. * **Rich Storyline:** Explore a deep and engaging narrative filled with iconic characters and epic quests. * **Breathtaking Environments:** Journey through the stunning landscapes of Azeroth, from the frozen wastes of Northrend to the fiery depths of Hellfire Peninsula. * **Iconic Moments:** Relive pivotal moments from Thrall's life, such as his escape from the arena and his confrontation with Garrosh Hellscream.
I'd really hope not. Not just because it looks like an asset flip, which it does (which I can't expect more from individuals making something for the hell of it). But it is also disjointed. Disconnected. Generally a bad look masked by high quality textures and lighting. Just because Unreal enables you to throw good lighting at anything doesn't make anything look good. The problem is not that people are making this stuff but is the fact that this video was titled "What Would World of Warcraft 2 Look like?" which is the kind of title that naturally makes people cynical and draws people to critic. It goes from a "Look at what these people made" to a "I have a suggestion." and that suggestion is "Wouldn't it be great if World of Warcraft looked exactly like every other game on the market with no substance or character and excessively difficult to run on reasonable consumer hardware?" Work smarter not harder. Make art look better because it is better not because it has more pixels.
Nailed it. Higher fidelity doesn't automatically make a game look better if there's no artistic flair or distinctive style to it. And while I would love to see a game in the Warcraft universe with crazy good lighting and high quality textures, I wouldn't play WoW if it looked like this.

This is obviously amazing. When I got to the Stormwind part of the video, it made me think different though. For example, the battlement in Stormwind were litterary made using the 3D Studio Max tutorial, to build chess pieces. To learn how to raise your 3D figure. If we look at that compared to what WoW looks like now, clearly it's much high end graphics than what they first started with. In the start they also had to think what computers people had...I mean they did plan 60 man raids, but took it down to 40 to avoid too much lag. I've also seen the low poly items that are scattered around the old classic/vanilla world. Some are stuff you learn day one in 3D class, but tbh it works. So to sum it up World of Warcraft like it is now, is actually a compilation of how they made the game from 2000s to the "finished" game in 2004, then all the way to 2024 with the expansion packs. The graphics are also very cartoony, but not so much that it looks goofy. I honestly think the graphics in the video are amazing, lights and all, but I am sure there are many who would agree with me when I say that we wouldn't need a World of Warcraft 2. It's good enough as it is. It's still very simple, at least if you start a level 1 character, and just go out there and start taking quests and bashing away. P.S. My favorite in this video was Scarlet Monastery (inside). Indoors zones / instances is probably what could have used an upgrade, but I think most of them fits with the rest. The only difference between old and new, is that they can put soo many more details into the newer one, while the other ones were kinda low poly. Now THAT would have been a better way to use the time...but if you take an insanely huge dungeon like Blackrock Depths + Molten Core...how do you wanna upgrade the graphics there? Better looking lava? Better looking mobs? Sure, sure! What about the entire dungeon...you know the roof and walls? It could have pissed off a lot of people if all the mobs and bosses were permanently swapped out, but it would be a better time spent to upgrade some dungeons and raids. I remember when they got graphic upgrades for League of Legends, and I didn't like the thought of it all...well so many years later, it's obviously much better than it was, and even looking at older videos for League of Legends, make it look like some kind of potato. There was one thing I never liked with the graphic upgrades for World of Warcraft. It started as a small thing, but lately it turned out to make the game a bit weird. For me playing a gnome since Summer 2005, when I started playing World of Warcraft, they completly ruined the male gnomes face. It was so bad, I had the new graphics turned off for years. Not so long ago they also made an upgrade of the eyes of all the races in World of Warcraft, and my instant thoughts were that now the eyes looked weird now. Almost like they had lazy eye. For my gnome I have always had headgear covering his eyes, to make him look more normal and accepted in my own head. Engineering goggles or just something to hide his eyes. I even have a macro that makes my character equip a plate helmet (as a mage) when I use Time Warp. Anything goes.

The great effort put into creating these images is certainly admirable, but I hope they never make a version of WoW like this. You'll never convince me that 'more realistic' means 'more beautiful'; in fact, from what I see, iconic places that were vividly etched in my memory for their strong artistic characterization now become generic images of places already seen in a hundred other games, games indistinguishable from one another. Duskwood exemplifies perfectly what I mean.
Many of the assets used in the videos are free assets available to developers, though some of them were slightly repurposed (color, scale, etc). Granted, I did some some retextured or enhanced textured ones as well. This very thing leads to feeling like you've seen them a million times, because you may have XD. Then there are some using 2D backdrops to set the tone directly out of WoW without actually altering anything of it (The Exodar looks to be a 2D image, for example). I understand that these are likely hobbyists having fun so I appreciate the work put in to them from that perspective, but I personally don't find them to be indicative of what a next gen WoW may be realistically. And frankly, like you, I hope this ISN'T what it would be like. At most it's entertaining, at least for me
Reminder world of warcraft is not a 1:1 of the real azeroth, read the books by Chris Metzen, goldshire is a lot more than just 3 houses and a blacksmith for example

years and years ago, there had been whispers there was going to be a WoW dungeon style game for consoles, and that was like way back when 360 was around, but nothing came of it
Looks cool in general. The night time looks great, morning looks awesome. However, the daytime looks a bit flat. I personally think there is not enough god rays, fog, dust, volumetric air perspective...etc. On my opinion need to be more mystery in the light. Also, I think the current fight system is awesome, no need to change it, just would be perfect to add some visual effects into explosions and magic. But thanks for sharing it, I think its a great base!
It certainly looks beautiful and impressive, but I don't think we need World of Warcraft 2, there are a lot of untold and unseen stories in this universe, it's hard to imagine that a lot of events happened during the 10,000 year period when Illidan was imprisoned, I'd rather ask them to make a game Based on the untold stories, this could be done WOW for the first and second war, or even the war of the ancients...
The community did it for Grand Theft Auto and the community would do it for Wow. Sadly, from what I heard, the cheap/lazy folks at Blizzard locked up the texture files so the community can't make this texture mod for current WoW.
How is this better than the current graphics? I don't see any style or quality here. Or is it enough for you to enable raytracing to consider the graphics beautiful?
One can only hope that at the end of this "3 part expansion saga" they will announce Warcraft Reborn, A new World. Basically WoW 2.0 in Unreal 5 level of graphics, whole new engine, whole new UI, whole new world, heavily optimized allowing for bigger larger scale. Monsters will feel more real and terrifying. Dragons will be massive and imposing. Armor will show wear and tear until it is repaired. Magical effects will truly feel impressive. When your character is out of stamina or mana they actually show fatigue. No more pixal mounts! Your war horse will be magestic af, your battle warg will strike fear into the hearts of your enemies. Your dragon mount will swoop, sway, glide, and soar on the air currents. That is what I dream of one day.
If they made Vanilla wow again... Exactly the same but with these graphics they would.make so much money. I know some would complain it's just a reskin. But so many would love it
This is what I have been waiting for, a new world of warcraft with better graphics and modern combat mechanics, I knew this game in the old versions, but currently world of warcraft has to be renewed
WOWs cartoony graphics make the game amazing it feels comfortable and relaxing when exploring the world. I have played MMOs with more realistic graphics and honestly they were terrible not only on the eyes but also gameplay itself was bad.
That "Project Grunt" would be an awesome game for Blizzard to make (completely seperate from WoW)... something like Shadow of Mordor, only set in the WarCraft universe. You start as a grunt and work your way through the story, rising in rank and eventually getting your own keeps, soldiers & lieutenants.
This really is nothing like what WoW 2.0 would look like.. now World of Warcraft Movie 2.. possibly. There's no way you could have the zones be accurately scaled and fleshed out like that and run the game in it, especially when you start getting outdoor boss raids going and whatnot.. Hell accurately scaled, it'd take days to traverse between zones.
But by all means! Great work. I just like it the way ut is now, it has its charm. Not all games need to have Nvidia & Co to make a new graphics card every time they lunch a new game.
I'm not trying to sound negative here, but realistically speaking. I don't think Blizzard is going to let go of their cartoonish vibes that Warcraft has had for decades, and it's been an aesthetic that's been working for them for decades.
More sandbox More wpvp Make crafting not useless Like maybe dungeons and raids and quest give you certain types of mats that only be gotten from the pve content. This way you can have a use for both pve and crafting
I thought it was beautiful, simply incredible. But I would like to see this graphic quality still in cartoon models, as WoW captured us in this way, and should continue to capture new generations using the same formula. I understand that it is a style seen as something more childish, but let's face it, what we really want is the fun back.

They did stormwind right in the movie, that's a city of over 100k people. *sigh* I'd love to see it at half scale :X
you are a virgin nerd
@@lohcantfailtoo much rendering
@@marcedmonson Well i never said it would be realistic, doesn't mean i can't want it!
@@lohcantfail think realistically junior
the landscapes the storyline is what made us fall in love with the game ages ago
Would kill wow if some people made and released something like this that played very much like wow.
de hecho lo que viste era el wow si activaran los graficos ese iluminacion... pero ademas han salido alguno parecido y siempre el wow perduro mientras los otros lo jugaban por un tiempo y se olvidaban
Even if we don't get a WoW 2 (I think we will after World Soul Saga concludes), I would love to see Xbox put out a WOW Single Player story similar to what LoL is doing but on a much grander scale. This Grunt demo perfectly shows off what that would look like!
@loicgalmard2387 when did they say that? And do you actually trust them? 😏
years and years ago, there had been whispers there was going to be a WoW dungeon style game for consoles, and that was like way back when 360 was around, but nothing came of it
super work guys!!
I would resubscribe for WoW 2.
Wow! How realistic WOW!
The Most satisfying video on TH-cam ❤
those battle moves were amazing
is that running on a switch?
idk if I ever saw something that impressive in my life, make it playable that's it
It certainly looks beautiful and impressive, but I don't think we need World of Warcraft 2, there are a lot of untold and unseen stories in this universe, it's hard to imagine that a lot of events happened during the 10,000 year period when Illidan was imprisoned, I'd rather ask them to make a game Based on the untold stories, this could be done WOW for the first and second war, or even the war of the ancients...
The community did it for Grand Theft Auto and the community would do it for Wow. Sadly, from what I heard, the cheap/lazy folks at Blizzard locked up the texture files so the community can't make this texture mod for current WoW.
Cartoon graphics is what kinda makes wow - wow
How is this better than the current graphics? I don't see any style or quality here. Or is it enough for you to enable raytracing to consider the graphics beautiful?
Been a year, when is the release?
Looks rly gooood
If Blizzard/Microsoft were to make a WoW 2, it would have to be a pre-sequel.
No, literally just start over.
I love it good job
The thing is, I think it is fine as it is now. I like the cartoony style. I don't want it to look realistic or CGI.
Like an ad for a mobile game.
This looks like Amazon's New World, the tech is there and this is duable but can you IMAGINE!? WoW
This would be amazing for a one-off singleplayer spinoff, but don't think I could play an MMO of this for 20 years.
If they made Vanilla wow again... Exactly the same but with these graphics they would.make so much money.
I know some would complain it's just a reskin. But so many would love it
Wow Soundtrack kills me everytine .. 🥲
This looks amazing. I wonder if Blizzard were pitched for this development, I wish they were..
Scarlet Monastery looks ballin
Duskwood looked awesome.
This looks amazing, but i hope they dont change it. IMO, the current look is a lot of the charm of WOW.
Projekt Grunt is Just woooooooooow amazing
this is what the WOW Classic RE-Boot should've looked like.
This is what I have been waiting for, a new world of warcraft with better graphics and modern combat mechanics, I knew this game in the old versions, but currently world of warcraft has to be renewed
WOWs cartoony graphics make the game amazing it feels comfortable and relaxing when exploring the world. I have played MMOs with more realistic graphics and honestly they were terrible not only on the eyes but also gameplay itself was bad.
imagine playing with this graphics but with full immersion or atleast VR
That "Project Grunt" would be an awesome game for Blizzard to make (completely seperate from WoW)... something like Shadow of Mordor, only set in the WarCraft universe. You start as a grunt and work your way through the story, rising in rank and eventually getting your own keeps, soldiers & lieutenants.
Since I joined WoW in 2010 I’ve always wanted WoW to look realistic or at least do it as a addon so players have a choice
Just read the comments, these guys don't know shit. Looks great guys and I could tell it was wow from the start.
Thank you!
Seriously. Better graphics are better. That's why they're called better graphics.
Simple as
WoW now looks like a hazy cartoon glaze.
I very much agree the cities need to be upscaled massively. But the high contrast, the busy, noisy textures. Its just not recognisable as Blizzard.
It looks cool.
I reckon games should look stylized though.
Why whould we want this when we have a perfectly good working game now
But by all means! Great work. I just like it the way ut is now, it has its charm. Not all games need to have Nvidia & Co to make a new graphics card every time they lunch a new game.
my motherboard would turn into a hot poptart trying to run this. 10/10 would buy
I miss wow! I remember burning years with out stopping!
WoW, This looks amazing ,when is it going live?
Would be Great!
i'm actually really happy, that wow does not looks that way
The fragment with the orc is a video or a Game? I would buy a game like that being an orc doing missions, killing allys. Hell yeah
yea perfect balance reality and fantasy graphic :) i wanna this WOW online
Ab 4:30 Uhr gefällt mir am besten
I hope they start wow classic 2.0 mechanics of the old times just with bigger more spaced adjusted zones
I'm not trying to sound negative here, but realistically speaking. I don't think Blizzard is going to let go of their cartoonish vibes that Warcraft has had for decades, and it's been an aesthetic that's been working for them for decades.
Goldshire 2.0 here we come!
ojala algun dia veamos asi el juego y sea jugable.. que maravilla
No goblins. No... Goblins... 😮💨
"I don't want to live on this planet anymore."
Wow 2 classic with this level, next gen graphics its now, just look throne and liberty.
And please make it VR! I'd love to put on my head set and just wake up in WOW... That would be a dream come true ❤
That shield is great!
Amazing
I think the graphics need to be a bit more cartoony tbh, but pretty decent still.
Thunders ghoust. This is awesome. This is what we need. Give us this. I like it
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I would love to make a single player game like this.
I wish it looked like this, but they would lose a lot of players that couldn't render these kinds of graphics on their low budget or older PC's.
My gaming laptop can barely keep up with the game now
If WoW would look like that, I will play more. Looks great
More sandbox
More wpvp
Make crafting not useless
Like maybe dungeons and raids and quest give you certain types of mats that only be gotten from the pve content.
This way you can have a use for both pve and crafting
This is the true graphics of 2005
this would be a cool singleplayer/console port game
It looks outstanding but what kind of nuclear computer i would need to power up such game.
is that warrior using a blink dagger
Para uma empresa que fatura tanto dinheiro essa é a qualidade que os jogos deveriam ter.
I thought it was beautiful, simply incredible. But I would like to see this graphic quality still in cartoon models, as WoW captured us in this way, and should continue to capture new generations using the same formula. I understand that it is a style seen as something more childish, but let's face it, what we really want is the fun back.
