Andy, you and your staff have done yourselves proud with this restoration. Seeing her in Reading Rambles yellow paint on the footboards and handrails and the tasteful Reading & Northern lettering brought back a LOT of wonderful memories. But, the icing on the cake was that Reading six-chime whistle put back on her. Thank you! A great video East Penn Railfan Productions. Well done!
Love to see they started using the 6 chime again! Great footage you capture here, 2102 looks magnificent. Can't wait until 2100 is completed as well, and TWO Reading T-1s are in operation!
I had the honor of riding this train in the second car (third counting the generator car). Sticking my head out the window, the near deafening stack talk, the showers of ash, the smell of burning coal, and that oh so sweet 6 chime whistle all made for one hell of a ride that I will never forget and would more than gladly do again in a heartbeat. Old 2102's stellar performance made it quite clear that she's in damn good hands with the R&N. Hats off to them for making all of this happen.
Bigger! Especially when Andy Muller put 2102 to the test by pulling 50 empty coal hoppers on April 26th. th-cam.com/video/OkqMuOPYhOg/w-d-xo.html but then 100 coal hoppers on May 20th then pulling 50 loaded coal hoppers back but with 2102 in reverse! th-cam.com/video/kzKt-2MsqmI/w-d-xo.html
Especially for us in the Northeast, Andy and Ross should definitely team up in the future. Thatll be a sight!, Since Ross said He can handle a Northern with no probelem.
Great video. I was on this trip and I have to say this was one of the best experiences I've ever had of riding behind steam. I recommend anyone who loves steam has to take a trip behind the Rambler.
Thanks for the video. That’s a nice demonstration of the two whistles back to back beginning at 7:50. As a kid in the 1960s, I must have seen a couple of T-1 engines together when my parents took me to some rail event in Port Clinton. I remember how fearsome the whistles sounded there, close up against the mountains, and how massive the engines seemed. My parents had some pictures and videos from that day (now lost), but I think the engines had that same paint scheme if I recall the pictures correctly, the yellow trim standing out in my memory.
I love that the engineer was blowing both whistles and my favorite whistle on 2102 was the old reading 6 chime that it wore in 1985 through 1991 and they should keep her in her reading northern paint livery for the rest of her excursion career
Wonderful video, and thanks for braving the rain for us! Did everyone see how excited that young girl was? She gets it! She's gonna be a steam freak for life! The young lady deserves a shopping spree at Henning's or Nicholas Smith's! 😄
Totally Awesome from someone in North Mississippi, at 77 years old & still trackside when I can!! I see some former Iowa Pacific Cars on the train - thanks for saving them!
@@VirtualRailfanProductions Absolutely! Can you imagine what 2102 would look like running through a snow-covered landscape? Christmas, snow, and steam are just made for each other! Hard to explain why, but it just is. It's not for nothing Chris van Allsburg put a steam engine on the Polar Express!
I am glad to see that Reading locomotive 2102 has been restored and returned back to operation after decades of being inactive, there are four surviving Reading T1 class 4-8-4 locomotives and soon two of these will be operational first 2102 and later engine 2100. It is great to see steam locomotives be restored back into operating condition after being inactive for decades and left to rust away through years of neglect.
muito show esse video! imagens incríveis. Trens de passageiros tracionados por locomotivas a vapor são mesmo lindos. Jamais sairão de moda, pois são muitos os saudosistas em todo o planeta.
Fun fact: The observation car on the rear of this consist is a former Illinois Central car by the name “Mardi Gras”, and it’s most well known for being the Tuscan red observation car that brought up the rear of many a Norfolk Southern Steam Program excursion. Another fun fact is that this is also the first time it has ever run behind a 4-8-4 since it last ran behind the 611 in 1994.
Did Andy buy the former PRR budd car and the Great Dome behind the Super Dome? I have been seeing these behind 2102 since it has been restored during the test runs etc, these cars used to be part of PAX rail at one point for mainline excursion leasing. I think 425 pulled it as well before the restoration of 2102 was finished.
Very nice footage man. I also posted a video of my footage from yesterday. Very cool to see all the different videos from various TH-cam producers. 👍🚂👍
Nice I was on that train that day 2nd to last car but I decided to go in the Pullman after that towards the engine to get air and wave to rail buffs 17:11 is me
Nicely filmed. It's a pity that the person who filmed this didn't follow the locomotive at the end, she did sound pretty awesome and I didn't realise she had two whistles. 👍✅🇦🇺
@@OldsVistaCruiser I think I get what he means. Will 2102 run on anything other than Reading & Northern tracks? Anything's possible but I really wouldn't hold my breath on it. The two big players in PA are CSX and Norfolk-Southern, neither want anything to do with steam excursions at theis time.

My dad fired most of those 2100 t 1,s. Back in the day
My dad retired as a Reading RR Engineer in 1977.
Excellent video. Loved it. Love that Chime whistle.
As someone who was born after 2102’s withdrawal in 1991, seeing 2102 in operation in my lifetime is definitely a real treat.
The clip at West Hamburg, Was Amazing!
What stack talk from 2102!! I thoroughly enjoyed the chase, after driving from Indiana to see it!
one of the best 2102 videos I have seen.
Awesome! 2102 should run excursions to both Sayre, Scranton and Pittston one day!

17:00 did someone wish you a Merry Christmas?
Great video! Loved the shots at the Wye.
4 people said merry Christmas
Yeah it's like they thinking they are in the polar express or something
Why not? Christmas came early this year thanks to Santa Muller and the crew!
And a Happy Hanukkah. Still I guess it is kinda like Christmas to see this old girl doing what she does best after 30+ Years.

I absolutely love the whistle(s) on her. 2102 is slowly starting to become one of my favorite steam locomotives
Starting to be one of my favorites, too. She's one good lookin' locomoitve. Lots of power, also!

Thank you Mark! It was great meeting you too!
My God, that 6 Chime is a thing of beauty 🥲
Great chase of the Ramble!
Merry Christmas
Thank you Tyler!

Great video and awesome catches
Really nice video. I'm in the vestibule at 17:03 and 18:21.
Awesome video, as always!!
Nice to see the T1 storming through hills and valleys and mountains of Pennsylvania
I had it at two spots yesterday but will return back for it on Saturday July 2nd
I was on the train! Thanks for capturing the journey!

Was right there with you at Leesport and Miller's Crossing.

@@EastPennRailfanProductions Same here!
When you consider that this train ride cost $100 per passenger this steam engine restoration will be paid for before this year's fall foliage ride.
As I understand it the trip sold out in thirty seconds, give or take a few!
@@wayneantoniazzi2706 not true. The tickets were available for a week before they sold out. They just gave priority to historical society members

I'm surprised that RBM&N 425 wasn't fired up for a whistle battle against Reading T-Hog 2102
How do you get down to the Wye?
Will this ever go off museum property and run on freight lines?
She's not in a museum, and she runs on about 50 miles of a 400-mile Class 2 freight railroad. The owner of the railroad bought her and restored her.
