- Marton Drive in South Shore Blackpool is a rare tree & grass verged thoroughfare. Over the decades, many trees died out, such as Elm trees.
An initiative to replant trees along Marton Drive is underway, with work due to start in March. - บันเทิง
Totally agree about the lack of respect for surroundings, Stephen. Makes me mad too. Do people not want to live in a nice looking place? 🤔
You so make me smile when you say the olden days . When I was in my 40s my kids used to say you remember the olden days dad? I'm 62 now. I have a great memory
Great news for the town, let’s hope they plant more! 👍👍
So very interesting Stephen ..thank you so very much.
Thanks for watching Sandra.
Have a look at the corner of fishers field, more planting done there, still many areas like that they can do relatively quickly.
Love the video I have driven under and over the bridge many times x
a great video Stephen...nice to see some greenery in Blackpool and more views of the town.
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always yes there's absolutely no respect these days looks a really nice road though love the trees have a great day xx
Plant wild flowers, and things like bluebells makes it so pretty people respect it and council save money as they dont have to mow it all summer
Great video! I spent every Sunday here as a child as well as brownies and guides, lots of happy memories. I often walk past as I love just down the road and it does make me sad to see it in a state of disrepair. Great news about the new trees though!
Glad to hear that the council have decided to plant more trees Steve. As well as improving the look of a road they will help to reduce pollution and offer shade in hot areas. There are some trees on some of the roads near the football ground. I would like to see a video of these roads.
Sad to see the church left empty for so long. Far too many empty properties in Blackpool. Unfortunately the costs of redeveloping them are too high. You will remember Marton Library, a little further along Waterloo Road on the corner of Pine Avenue. For a few years it looked like that the library building would lie empty but luckily it got converted into flats.
It's amazing how interesting you make a walk along a suburban road. Another very interesting video Steve. Thank you xxx
Amazing great content again. It will look better with the trees, especially in summer and Christmas 😊

The road I live on in North Wales isn't as quiet as that road even at 4am.
We have the same problem here in Great Yarmouth cars and vans parking or driving through grass verges resulting in a churned up eyesore kerb. It got so bad here in parts the council erected large wooden posts to prevent this. It must be as we get older that we notice things like this as it certainly weren’t like it in my younger days, there was respect for the environment.
The problem with putting posts in is that they make it hard to mow the lawns with the big machines, therefore leaving long bits of grass around the posts.
thanks Stephen for another great video
I used to live near Marton Drive, and remember the trees.
We should feel lucky there are still quite a few there.
I went to Blackpool to a club and men was naked in chastity think I went the wrong place
Very good Stephen. That area of Blackpool looks nice and did not see a Turkish barbers. Lol.
None at the moment, but give it time!
People have no respect the area they live in I hope they do plant more tree it was interesting video Stephen seeing where you born on Marton drive it is a busy main road you where all over the place in the video Stephen
Thanks Jason.
Thanks for another interesting video Stephen😊
Hello again Stephen
It's a shame that the methodist Church has to be sold
You have a good memory's there with your family over the years Stephen
Take care
Top video Sir, I certainly remember Trevor Sinclair and he started his professional career at Blackpool so kind of makes sense if he still owns the flat. We live in a different world now… respect is being diminished!! …. Smithy
I used to see him in the shops every now & then. He eventually moved away after he signed for QPR, but could still be spotted around the odd time.
Great work Stephen loving it
NVS Services like NVS VIDEOS LOL, nice video Stephen.
totally agree on the grass verges my local roads look like the somme, my road has a few trees but the Council never sweep up the leaves in the Autumn and charge us for garden waste bins but stop collecting just as the leaves have fallen so my front garden ends up full of the bloody things
A good green space is on Breck Road off Whitegate. People have made the effort. Beautiful bit of greenary. Flowers coming up. Spring on its way. Warm up a bit I hope.
I grew up.in spen corner was born in Harcourt rd.and still live in the area.I was christened at that church.
Let's hope they listen to your advice Steven more trees are badly needed
you do have a point Stephen. A certain part of society i now believe either dont have the time or say well i pay enough council tax so let the council do it.
Thanks again Stephen for another informative vlog i think that there should be higher kerbs so that there is no parking on the grass i hope you are well and bye until the next time
Yes so true we always looked after the front up to the road way takes not time to mow the grass. People today are just lazy and have no respect for the area 😢😢
I think having more cars on the road makes it worse, but also, less people seem to care as much about their surroundings because they lead such busy lives.
Had some good times in the royal.
My cousin got married in a Methodist Church although he's an Anglican and then had his reception in the Catholic Club!A rather convoluted series of theological twists and turns!
You made me smile Stephen. No you are not like Victor Meldrew😂. Just echoing the thoughts of many people who take a pride in their surroundings. ❤
Great news let's hope it goes ahead good video Steven taka care😂😂
Thank you for the other day, it was great to meet you and hope we cross paths again in the future. Take care 🙏
In town llandudno lord Street were ther plant new trees from top to bottom and llandudno prom ther replaced old brick shelter to old fashion shelters great video steven
I must head back to Llandudno very soon!
Good news Stephen about time, hopefully they will do more. You did not sound like Victor Meldrew, the grass verges are in a terrible state. Those road cones are probably saving a parking space, least that's what they do with with them round here.😊😊😊😊😊😊
We have a Ferodo bridge in Coventry
Very interesting 👌
👍👍💥💥👍👍
Can only be a good thing x
Great Video Steve Thanks For Showing The Tree lined Marton Drive That Is A Nice Section Of Blackpool😊 Have A Great Night😊
Interesting video Stephen. Good to see more trees. Hopefully they will plant a lot more.👍🥰❤️
Stephen you have always been Victor Meldrew It's good 😅
Fantastic vid keep up the good work
Out of curiosity does anyone know why Blackpool has FY postcodes? I would have thought they would have had BP postcodes. Always puzzled me
FY stands for Fylde, which is the whole of the western part of the peninsula. From Poulton-le-Fylde up to Fleetwood & then down to Lytham stretches the FY postal area. Any further east will be PR for Preston.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool thanks for taking the time to respond to my comment Stephen and thank you for the information. Makes sense when you think about it that way
I look forward to watching these videos 🎉
Great video Stephen Blackpool council must be watching your videos😊👍
They are, I'm sure!
Hi Steven ❤
I don't have any trees in my street, I do have 3 beautiful parks in close proximity though to make up for it.
More trees aren’t the two existing trees in Blackpool enough then lol
Wr at the bellevue strawberry gardens community group have a lot of trees in our community gardens.
We are at the back of Newcastle ave. If you would like to visit please let me know.
Also Watson rd Park are planting a mini forest in the park
You've passed my street powe!l ave.do you remember playing on the banking.the Watson rd bridge
Hope you said hi to Teresa Green lol 😂 forgive me I'm drunk in Layton rakes lol 👍
What about male chastity
lets hope a few are money trees
Can’t be bad I think the council have been watching your videos Stephen 🌳
People Where I Am Put Big Boulders On The Front Mowing Strip So Cars Will Get Damaged If They Try To Park On The Grass. 👍
Hi Stephen on the 12th March Blackpool has it's highest tide of the year 10.5m are you planning on going out for it unfortunately I'll not be around to see it so would love to see it
Won't it be lovely when cars are reduced, I hope I'm still around to experience it, more trees less cars...and more vids walkon lol.
Steve run for Mayor and get them trees PLANTED👮♀
I think the buck stops with the residents for the state of the verges. It's like that where I live people tend to park on the verges & greens & makes the place look a mess 😐
More people having cars makes it worse.
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool well the town I live in ( Newton Aycliffe ) is a new town they started building it in the 50s as an extension, for Aycliffe village because of rhe expansion of the industrial estate the village was too small so that's really why this town was built. But they really didn't think of the future. So they built loads of squares around greens, which looked picturesque but with the prices of cars dropping more people could afford them hence why this massive problem of literally nowhere to park 😒
Hi Stephen
we have grass verges near me albany ave and surrounding area most are well maintained by the residents it makes the area a nice place to live.
perhaps the council and police should prosecute these selfish people who only care for themselves.
Yep lol😂 u sound like Victor Meldrew
Evenin 😂😂😂😂 no you have a point we get that here in West Mids no respect nice to see part of your childhood till the next one 😊
4291.... i dont bloody believe it. hahahaha
Do you think Blackpool council have been watching your videos Stephen LOL 😜
I think they do Diane!
Hi Stephen thanks for this vlog, shame about the church, so sad, good to hear they're planting more trees, take care bye for now 😊
Victor Meldrew was right.
Just needs some respect to the surroundings and pride in there local areas 😮
THEY ALREADY CUT DOWN THOUSANDS OF MATURE TREES, SO NO GAIN
You can never have too many trees Stephen. Nothing wrong with having a bit of a Victor Meldrew from time to time mate, especially on the green verges being turned into mud piles by vehicles.
Having watched a lot of your fine vlogs
Blackpool should concentrate on rebuilding all those run down proprties as theres enough of them to solve the countries homeless problem instead of trying to increase property values of private housing which only helps the owners of these properties and nothing for the general population
Blackpool needs to be completely refurbished for eveyone not just a few
No curbs?
They don't like the leaves on the floor?? Dirty needles, empty beer cans and bags of shit!! seems to be the only thing acceptable..to all council's
Think I saw you today on the no6 bus going into town from marton? I’d just dropped my cat off at the PDSA to have his teeth out. You got off outside home bargains? Pretty sure it was you, but I expected you to be taller for some reason 😆
Wasn’t me!
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool oh wow, well you have a double then lol he had a cap on and everything, and glasses, basically you 😆 I was sat behind him nearer the back though so didn’t get a full view of his face but I was convinced it was you lol. Maybe you are taller then 🤣
Stephen I see your MP is being investigated, on the news today Thursday.
Odd that they want to plant trees to make the neighborhood more attractive, yet they tarmac the sidewalk which is extremely ugly. 🤡
I think they tarmacced it to reduce the number of claims for tripping on the slabs.
It’s not right 7:07
everyone has given up in god so churches are empty and will turned into trendy flats soon i guess
For those people who call for trees in Blackpool, the approaches to Whitegate Drive is generally regarded as the closest to the seafront that trees can flourish. If the council were to attempt to place trees any nearer, taxpayers would have a very good legal case against them for wasting taxpayers' money.....
Please, please, stop saying 'the olden days' and say 'in times past'. You may feel you are ancient, but 'olden days' refers to times before you were born, not ten or twenty years ago.
Hi Stephen
