  • I'm in a pine tree plantation with Kevin Perkins and his team to see how they harvest trees. Kevin owns and operates a Valmet 911C. The Valmet has the ability to fell, de-limb and cut logs to length in minutes. The forestry equipment is amazing! #thewoodlandreboot #valmet #vimek #vimekforwarder #woodlandmills #timberharvester

That's the coolest harvester I've ever seen, i saw a harvester like this when I was 3 or 4, but I didn't knew how cool it was at that time

Every one of those trees has a root ball. It's easy to cut trees down, but not so easy to get rid of the root. Don't the roots have to be removed before new trees can be planted? Or to use the land for other purposes? How do they get rid of the root? Explain Please.

This land was being turned into a sand pit by a local gravel/construction materials company. The tree harvester explained to me that a different crew would arrived after he collected the trees to remove the remaining organic materials, including stumps, from the site.

Great video in seeing how the trees are being harvested . Now I wonder how to they get rid of the stumps and brush . I know that these trees were planted to harvest but to me it's still sad to see them cut down . I wonder what they do with the top soil when digging for the sand .

I have been informed the company that owns the property will screen the top soil so they can either sell it or use it in various 'large' projects they have underway or in planning.

I'm not sure how many hours he had in the machine at the time.
