I had an opportunity to meet Shri Uttam Singhji at Amritsar Airport on 30th June 2019. He felt so happy after I recognised him and blessed me.
Between 3.29 to 3.59... Lataji telling about tempo getting fast, Uttamji replying that it is computerised, lataji again insisting him to listen..
No doubt, both are legends.. but I am sure if lataji is telling something, she is true. Owner of the sweetest voice, she is also the master of beats, rhythm and tempo... Listen to her lines in the songs.. Dil dhoondta hai fir wahi.. Sun sayba sun.. Zindagi aur "kuchh bhi nahi" Teri meri kahani hai... The way she sings something off beat and catching on to the beats again... Could be said that even computer cannot falsify Lataji... She is Goddess (Devi) of Sur and Taal.. and pronunciation.. and expression.. dynamics.. breathe.. the list is endless.... 🙏
If you listen to the song that's released after this, you'll find that Lataji's observation was accurate and they corrected the tempo.

I don't think she had any personality or any other blessings of relationships in this life, poor soul. She was like a milking cow just producing film songs like an appliance. She seemed ill at ease with people and talked little and seemed humourless. However, I did see her animated with one person: Noor Jehan. The two, strangely, got on, it seems? Noor Jehan was so loud and vulgar and Lata was so staid and plain. But there seems a real affection between them from the 80s reunion photos, Lata authenically looks loving and loved by Noor Jehan. Funny. ; ) K
