  • A minnow built on the Fleein’ Cray platform. Built to be durable, easy to cast, and fish high in the column. A trimmed brush head gives this fly a hard side to side kick.
    Recipe:
Special Note on Color: Use any colors you like for materials, keeping white as a typical base color. Favorites: White /Chart., White/Yellow, White/Red, White/Pink,
    Thread: Veevus 140
    Rear Shank: Flymen 25mm shank
Tail 1: Small quantity of bucktail…use sparingly!
Tail 2: Minimum two, up to four saddle feathers. Matching in size.
    Flash: Flashabou Mirage
    Body: Translucy Brush 1in
Back: Two mallard flank feathers…tied to form a “tent”, then reinforced with flex resin
Resin: UV Flex (solarez or equivalent)
Connection: 20mm shank, connected to rear shank and then lashed to front hook
Front Hook: Ahrex PR330 or Ahrex TP610. 1/0 or 2/0
Keel: .030 lead wrapped to bend of hook
Bump: 1 inch RD Frenzy Fly Brush
Rattle: Glass Rattle 4mm. Size dependent on fly size
    Body: Translucy Brush 2in
Back: Three mallard flank feathers. One each side of fly, tied in to create a slight “tent” effect. Last feather tied in on top to “cap” the first two feathers. Each feather should be given a thin coat of flex resin along the length of the stem and “feathered” outwards. Go easy on the resin!
Accent: Rubber legs, 4 tied in on either side of fly. Color of choice.
Throat: Rabbit, wrapped with leather on. Use Groovy Bunny to add greatest accent.
Head: EP Crustaceous Brush, color of choice. Trimmed for desired swim action.
    Resin: UV Flex

Thanks James! I just learned to tie your fleeing cray and now this is the perfect companion to learn to tie next. Killer bluegill colors

Hard to believe but the Fleein’ Mjnnow is the HOT fly here on Wollaston Lake in Saskatchewan! Took numerous 37-42” pike in it..they crushed it! Great fly design!!!

Excellent action packed pattern and profile. What a great companion to your fleeing crawfish 🦞. Two smallie snacks I am sure. Definitely will have to tie it when I get the chance. 😎🎣

    really nice fly m8!!!
I have actually started to use "cheap(er)" jewelery pins for tails ( like this one) to save mone and shanks. So far it has worked fine.
I also like that you show us that it is "normal" to have to trim á few times instead of just showing us 1 trim and then á perfect fly.

I'm liking it but you could have used wire to hook up I'm going to use that pattern attention getter for sure

Like the attention to details, at each stage of build. Why the mechinical connection verses mono and bead. This reminds me of the game changer platform. The weighted bend . Does this help create the drop on pause and side to side motion?

The shank connection just allows for longevity and the exact same loop for the life of the fly. We build these flies to swim for multiple seasons of hard use.
