Just A Reminder :Before removing internal components, you must place the computer in “Battery Safe mode.” This mode
avoids short-circuits or system malfunction by removing power from internal components.

Before removing internal components, you must place the computer in “Battery Safe mode.” This mode
avoids short-circuits or system malfunction by removing power from internal components.
To place the computer in “Battery Safe mode,” follow these steps:
      1.
With the computer turned off and AC adapter connected, press the following key and button
combination: Windows key + Backspace key + Power button.
      2.
Turn the computer on to initiate “Battery Safe mode.”
      3.
After the computer powers off, disconnect the AC adapter.
In “Battery Safe mode,” the power button will not turn the computer on if the AC adapter is not connected.
To disengage “Battery Safe mode,” plug in the AC adapter and press the power button.

I found your video very helpful. I plan on buying this lap top with the 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. I plan on adding Samsung 860 Evo SATA3 2.5in SSD in the empty slot (I believe all of their models have an empty SATA slot?). They can coexist without any problems right? I'm not much of a hardware guy, so I'd appreciate any answer.

@@c.a.2517 The HP maintenance and service guide (c06200645.pdf - hp.com/support) might help. The unit I bought had a mechanical HD but an empty M.2. slot and an empty RAM slot. According to the manual they all have the same major connections, just some are sold with them empty. I really think mine was a hobbyist configuration. It only came with 4GB RAM and even doing the initial OS updates was hard to watch, but it did run. After I filled the second slot with 16GB RAM and swapped out the HD with an M.2 (2 bit) it totally screams. HP Support is very good. They even sent me a USB with an OS distribution to reload onto the M.2. World class organization.

So this WOULD have space inside for an extra storage SSD and boot from the NVMe?? I always keep Windows and my stuff on separate driver ;=)

Depends on the spec you are getting. I wasn't expecting a backlight on the fairly basic model I got and it wasn't listed but it has one. Two stages of brightness plus off.

This exact model does not, but we know that models with i7s have it, so check before buying.

    • @litvinovserge

those bastards probably may reduce warranty, there are "blue" marks on screws, so U can`t disassemble this laptop without "evidence". It was so nice and easy before probook G3 series - the bottom part was easily removable.

The HP maintenance and service guide (c06200645.pdf - hp.com/support) has a list on page 6 called "End-user replaceable parts" with 7 items, among them M.2 SSD, HD, memory.
Page iii has a disclaimer "Accessing parts described in Chapter 6, "Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider only parts," can damage the computer or void your warranty."
This is not legal advice, but when I replaced my memory and added an M.2 I wasn't worried.
