I think this must be my all time favorite song by The Florida Boy's. I have sung this song in every church I've ever sung at. These lyrics hold such a powerful message! To think all those many long years ago Jesus hung and died on that ole rugged cross to be a sacrifice for our sins . He was without fault but yet he was persecuted and sentenced to death just so that you and I could have salvation.
My mom and dad traveled around wherever the Florida Boys held concerts and had many of their albums, this was my dad’s favorite song. I could listen to this song all day long and it still brings tears to my eyes and touches my heart. Mom and Dad passed on many years ago. I will always love this song.

Greg Cook is the best of the tenor singers for this group. He pronounces the word so plainly that you can understand what he is singing. He is wonderful.

In the late 80's I was an aspiring gospel songwriter. The Florida Boys came through our small town on their way back to Nashville possibly. I introduced myself to Les Beasley after their concert and told him that I was trying to get my music heard. I asked if he would take the cassette I was holding and give it a listen. I have to be honest, he rolled his eyes and commenced to tell me how rude I was to approach him, and he refused to take the tape. He was a complete jerk...I eventually landed a publishing deal and spent some time in Nashville. His poor attitude as a Christian stuck with me, and I always went out of my way to treat folks with kindness after a show. Everything that glitters, is not Gold.
Man, I’m so sorry to hear that. Les was known for giving younger guys a start in Gospel music, plus he was known as a very Christlike man. That’s not to say that I doubt your story. I can easily see that happening. Sometimes fame gets in the head of anyone. I hope Les realized how his behavior was very ungodly to you and asked God for forgiveness.
My Daddy sang this song at my daughters dedication. He passed away a month ago. I miss him so much and have been listening to this crying

Such a beautiful version of this song! I first heard it in our Southern Baptist Church over in South Shore, KY about 20+ years ago. One of the ladies in our congregation had a beautiful singing voice & she would sing this for us. This song moved me the first time I heard it & it still does. I’m so thankful that when He was on the Cross, I was on His mind.

My grandmother is the one that wrote this song. She didn't copyright it and trusted the wrong person, they took it for themselves. She sung it for years before the Florida Boys had it.

I've watched Gaither videos for decades. I've attended services 60 years ago where many famous vocalists even stopped by our house for refreshments and even sang with my mom and friends. This particular song by The Florida Boys ranks right at the top, along with "You are My All in All," sung by the Gaither Vocal Band. You can literally feel the anointing in both songs.
