  • UPDATE/ EDIT: The term "Polly Pocket" is not an accurate description of this move.
    A BETTER TERM = "Crossblade".
    & An even BETTER explanation/breakdown?
    This is a running man variation where you are facing to the diagonals.
    Your weight is on the back foot, the front foot is on its heel.
    Emphasizing the twist of the hips.

    Great tutorials. I’m just learning and find this step by step slowly better to follow than on TikTok m, they are too fast on there even their tutorials.

      Its great fun when you start to vary the moves.
      Just remember that to make it even easier is to swing your legs out. That's another tip that really helps.
      Think of it as doing the CanCan.

      The fascinating thing with Shuffling is that it incorporates so many dance styles from many decades. The Charleston for example. Then there are moves that you would see Fred Astaire doing for example.

    From Polly Pocket to Running Man to the Can Can. :D
    I love how so many shuffle moves borrow from so many different dance styles throughout the last 100 years. Thats what makes it fun.
    And to those that are just learning, keep practicing, practicing, practicing. Wear supportive shoes to protect your ankles and toes too!!
    And when deciding on shoes to wear for shuffling, make sure the sole doesn't have too much grip. If your shoes grip the floor too much it makes it harder to move and almost impossible to glide. It will also result in you getting worn out in a short period of time as it takes more energy and effort. Smooth soles are the best!! :)
    Happy shuffling everyone!! ;)

    Hello just watched ur vid and i can pretty much do this thing at a decent speed. 1 problem tho, do u have any tips onkeeping ur balance? I can keep my balance back and forth but not a lot on the sides
    EDIT: Do you also let it slide? The foot that u put in the back, do u jump on it or let it slide

    • @alexkennedy4666
      @alexkennedy4666 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I'm glad this tutorial helped :) For balance in general I would ensure that your core is really squeezed through every shuffle move (your core is your balance center!) Also, when you are in the "open" part of your polly pocket (when both feet are on the floor) I would really engage your glutes (bum) and twist your upper body so that it is facing more towards the front rather than turning WITH your hips/legs. I hope this helps / makes sense! :)

    2:15 there is a mistake with your legs position, right?

    • @ShuffleShred
      @ShuffleShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes you are correct! Wow i never noticed that, thank you for pointing it out! The leg that is straight in front of you with your heel down becomes the BASE of the flamingo :) I hope that clarifies!
