I'm with the Providence Fire Dept as a Firefighter/EMT-P going on almost 2 years now as well as a vollunteer with the HVWFD. regardless of what insinia is on the truck I'm responding in, its been the best job I have ever had. everyday is always something diffrent and challenging
Oh OK, that sounds like a good position. I'm a paid on -call firefighter for a 90 member department in Michigan. We have FT chief and 5 other FT positions including three fire inspectors. I also work full time as an industrial firefighter/EMT and HAZMAT Technician at a chemical plant. You were saying that you were happy you don't work in Edmonton, I was just curious what you didn't like about Edmonton.
Hi there I see there's replies on questions. I want to ask for being a first nation native of Canada is it tougher to get on full time? I did my 1001 lvl 1 & lvl 2 at lakeland college and have four years experience at a volunteer department . Thanks

@albino6669 hmm...ive thought about applying but im not sure, im not in very good shape, but i can lift 3 quarters of my bodyweight and the idea of saving lives does kind of appeal to me
edmonton.ca/for_residents/emergency_services/firefighter-recruitment.aspx This link should help you out, but as a quick run through you would need EMR or higher training, Class 3 or better training, canadian citizenship, and etc. GL and hope this helps a bit.
@rhino2960 The only people who make it are those that really want to be FFs. It's hard work. If you even want to consider it, you'd need to be in pretty damn good shape because it's grueling.
