    i have a 75 f250 4x4 with a Perkins 6 liter 6 cyc and a fuller 10 speed. i love that trans there is only a 400 rpm drop between gears so the engine is never out of its power band. im running a 14 inch twin disc clutch out of a 60 series chevy. im building a pickup for a friend with the same combo but its getting a 16 inch twin disc. hes towing a 40 foot fifth wheel travel trailer.

    Nice work man! The mounts for the divorced t case look like they could be beefier and also go frame rail to frame rail to resist rotational torque on the bottom as well as the top. But man nice work!

      @@jagersgarage490 gotcha. I had a Suzuki samurai rigged up for off-roading on Toyota axles and 36's. They have divorced tcase. I ended up getting a laser cut ring that went around the entire case and grabbed every mounting bolt that held the front and back case halves together. If you didn't do that they always seemed to crack. Granted a lighter case, but I always just assumed there was a lot of torque on them especially in low range.

    • @jagersgarage490

      Its mounted basically the same as the truck it come out of. If I were off roading I'd definitely add more support but it's just a tow rig. I don't ever use low range first gear is almost 9:1

    I did this on my 01 DRW , didn't have to worry about a transfer case, sure wish i could weld as good as you did in the inside of the cab. Also like the Trans mount you made out of the OEM, I used the trans mounting holes in the frame and fabricated perches for rubber mounts on both sides, then fabricated two L shaped mounts that bolt to the side of my FSO8406 and rest on the mounts.

What I'm wondering is about the transfer case. Will I need to do the divorced transfer like this? I already have a tuner. So trouble codes can be cleared.

    • @jagersgarage490
      @jagersgarage490  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you will need a divorced transfer case unless you want to pay or have access to a machine shop to make a married mount and coupler. There is a guy on the cummins forum that did it and shared lots of info.

      @jagersgarage490 what you think a cost of conversion on my 04 would be doing a 8spd manual? And reflashing my ECM from automatic to manual I could do that with a smarty turner I suppose

    • @jagersgarage490
      @jagersgarage490  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cost really depends if you are doing it yourself or paying someone to do it and how you get the parts. It's been awhile but if I recall I had $3,000-$5,000 into just the parts including drive lines and flanges to do it. But I took my time and found deals like $300 for a flywheel housing vs $2000 at the dealer and I paid $350 for my 10 speed a new one was about $4000 at the time. As for a tune or smarty that could be done I'm not sure on the 04 if necessary. On my 97 when I went auto to manual there was no need for a tune but it's a 12 valve. I'd imagine an 04 would need something

    Love the video and information on it. Thank you Very much. This cleared up a few things for me as I am researching this some. Curious if you know if this would work on a common rail?
    I have an 06 with the g56 and 177, miles. I am wanting to do a 13spd on it. My biggest concern is the SAE#2 bell housing if it’ll bolt to the back on the common rail. I have not found anything online about common rails being swapped to 10spds.

      They don't make a common rail sae 2 clutch housing. One bolt hole is different an the common rail have a cam seal inset into the factory adapter plate. Yes it would work a 2wd would actually be alot easier. As for gears that really depends. If you get an overdrive trans it will be basically the same as stock. If the trans is not overdrive or you have larger tires. Go online and you can find a calculator where you put in tire size trans, axle gears and speed. Then it will give you an rpm and you can decide from there. The most fuel efficient rpm for a stock 12 valve is about 1700

      Cost really depends on how much of a hurry you are in and how much you search for deals. Mine was close to $5000, I paid $300 for the trans but almost $3000 for drive shafts.
      For strength the nv4500 is rated at about 400ft lbs at I think 12,000GVW the RTO6610 is rated at 660ft lbs at 55,000 GVW. I don't have any experience using one with that kind of power but based on there weight rating and seeing the size of the components I think it will hold up.

There's videos of guys with modded vp44s hitting near 1000 on just fuel and 1100+ with nitrous. 500 isn't even difficult to get out of a vp44 nowadays

    Hey. I have a 95 and its a stupid auto box. Have some ideas for the truck as I wa t it to be my farm truck in the next 5 years. Would love an Eaton fuller 10 speed but cannot find much info or ideas on keeping it 4x4. Divorced t-case I hear but how and where and a bunch of questions? Love to hear everyone's opinions. IC

      The ideal 10 speed are know as the baby 10s they weigh about 400lbs... the RTO610 and RTO6610. For transfer cases many older pickups came factory with a divorced transfer case the one in the video is an NP205 from a ford.

      Truth be told, I'm actually bouncing around the idea of a 5 inch lift and chopping the cab and frame and stretching it into a full 4 door.
      Need to research how much that will affect my towing capacity. No point having a heavy hauler that can't haul! IC

    • @jagersgarage490
      @jagersgarage490  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cost really depends on how much of a hurry you are in and how much you search for deals. Mine was close to $5000, I paid $300 for the trans but almost $3000 for drive shafts. For this one the owner paid $1700 for the trans but I got the drive shafts from tom woods instead of locally so the were $1000 instead of $3000
