When I see all that scenery it makes me think of the early settlers trying to pull wagons through there..They must have been in complete amazement..

I'm likin' the piano jazz of late. I always thought of country like that as symphonic. But piano proves itself yet again.

It is so beautiful out there but also looks very scary in places. You are so strong!

I agree with you, I hate getting up early and going over those passes when they are solid ice. I mean Forester and Mather at 4 am no thanks, I always like to wait a bit and get over them when the snow and ice start to give a little bit.

Yay for You hiking the pace you choose!
Question… what would you say was your guesstimated average total pack weight through the Sierras?

@Tangent Trails right at 40 lbs

That was beautiful. At your pace and taking it all in is a great idea. How did you keep your feet warm walking on all that snow? Hope your move went well. Stay safe and healthy.

@David David your feet stay relatively warm if you keep moving. I used wool injinji liner with darn tough wool sock over that. Also used OR snow gaiters. Also finding a snow free patch of trail when the sun is out warms you and dries out the socks a bit🙌🏻 Still in the process of moving 😉

While it's important to get moving forward, it's also possible to pause and smell the roses. If it takes you a week or two longer to reach your destination, you'll enjoy the experience even more.

Slow and steady wins the race. I appreciate and support your cautious approach. There is no need to take unnecessary risks. I am really enjoying all this content. Got Hubby Subscribed and watching too.

Two passes in a day in the sierras is a bit much. Most rugged hikers average 15ish miles per day cuz of the snow snd the rocks. Some passes are a smidge easier than others. Post holing is the other issue when you do two passes in a day. The second pass is more sketchy later in the day. You are so wise not to rush. The main issue you want people with you is if you bad post hole and for big water crossings which so early in the year should not have been as dangerous as it is in May or June. Thanks for sharing your adventures through the gorgeous sierras. I’m loving it

Awesome video! We did the JMT in June this year and we had blizzard conditions from just after forrester over Glen pass. It was great to see the views we missed on Glen pass!

You were so early, so why push? Totally agree. Plenty of time to crush less scenic miles to come.
