If this helps a single person it’ll be worth my time. I’m a plumber doing a DIY job at my house. The 3” or 4” pvc “adapter” is a joke. But you can make it work, however it won’t be with a standard coupling. Go to Lowe’s (no Home Depot’s in eastern NC) and get a 4” fernco (rubber coupling with a metal hose clamp) You’ll have to tighten the hell out of it, but in my opinion it’s a vastly superior connection than using silicone to fill the gap of a standard coupling. And if you’re still not sold, I say rubber to speak in layman’s terms. Ferncos are actually made of elastomeric PVC and will last as long as the channel system will. Good luck gents

      It's not sch 40 PVC. It's s&d pvc. Fits like a glove

Better check out some other drain systems! The end caps they use on these drains restrict the water flow you only have about a 2 3/4"x2 1/4" for the water to fkow through. That comes out to approximately 146 gpm of water it is restricting.
When I explained this to customer support, they said i should have put a drain every 10 foot. So if tou are putting these in for a 24' garage better find a different product

Don't get why pvc glue is used on end cap and silicone caulk for the drain pipe connection????? And why do you assume everyone is going to be using concrete. I'm sure not! Small patio. Drain to one end. Rock base! This site was very unhelpful!

The internal coupler on the mini/2 inch channel is useless, as it's not flush/watertight,regardless of which ends I try & on different units they are all cut erratically making coupling inefficient. You still have to seal, tape, silicone etc. if you want it to watertight. Avoid this product !

The Spee-D drive is installed leveled, no slope. Make sure it is dropped 1/4" if it is installed in front of the garage door. I got this info from NDS support engineer.

Since not discussed, must be common knowledge how to tool the edge of the concrete where the trench is dropped 1/8". It would also be helpful to know how to handle reverse slope where you need to drain in the opposite direction of the slope of the concrete.

each install is different. I am about to install against the slope in front of a garage so I plan on my own common tools-a small trowel. likely going to mount it deeper than 1/4 inch so no car tires ever touch it. Also i am not going to cut 4 inches on each side, instead I will cut the wings off of the bottom of the channel and then cut the concrete driveway just 1/8 inch over the width of the top of the channel for a snug fit. we will concrete the bottom and caulk the gaps on the top.

Can I use PVC glue to glue the pipe to the drain? I'm using it in an interior setting and I don't think the plumbing inspector will be happy with silicone sealing the pipe specially since its on the main drain system.

Good question!! Why haven't they answered!!???

From the video, they are using what we call around here septic field pipe. The pipe has an ABS component and cannot be attached with PVC solvent. It also will not work with universal style solvent. One point for those concerned about leaks here or in the other couplings ... you are encasing the channel and pipe in concrete which in effect "seals" it anyway. This is stormwater not sewage and not pressurized water supply plumping.

I have this channel drain system around the pool and after10 years the top grates started collapsing under your feet in certain areas. The recessed channel has cracked and can no longer support the top grates. I was hoping NDS would have a fix for this, something that would fit inside the gutter channel to support the top grates. Replacing the channel would require jack hammering concrete and tile - not practical at this time.

I would like to clean out my grate because after years of service, I believe it has filled up with dirt and debris. I am failing to find any information on this topic. How do I clean it out, please?

Hi Hal! Thanks for reaching out. Please take the following steps to help clean out the grate and the channel system:1. Remove the grate from the channel. You can simply unscrew the grate using a screwdrive. 2. Once the grate is removed, wipe away the debris that has been collected onto and underneath the grate.3. Next, remove the debris from the channel itself and rinse thoroughly with a hose.If you have any specific questions, please reach out to our technical services department techservice@ndspro.com Thanks!

Don’t you need to pitch the channel drain towards the pipe side ??
