Took me a while to realize that that's Unleashed's boosting animation (retargeted to Gens Sonic, methinks). The animations look a little different with this model. The legs are closer together, and the quills are extra long and chonky.
I think sonic adventure 2 was peak sonic. I liked the taller,more slim look,it was just the right amount of gritty and running style just felt more….idk. Realistic maybe? That was the only game where I feel like they wanted you to acknowledge he’s “older”.
I don’t wanna be that guy but, this mod is absolutely perfect except one thing, the spines for the super sonic from the SA2 and SA1 costume is wrong, it don’t give him the shadow looking spines like it was in those games.
I know this comment is not about the model but I wish that modern Sonic and Sonic generations was completely 3D with no side scrolling areas. The models look great though.
“Peak Sonic”? More like “Rehash Sonic”. It’s basically the same old boost genre. And I only care about the characters besides Sonic, the titular character has been overused and in the spotlight for so long as being main playable only, which gets tiring. Characters should be playable again and have unique gameplay style than the fastest thing alive.
The Sega Superstars model is by far my favorite (Heroes, Storybook, SA2 and Unleashed's prototype are also great though) So between that general look and the cel-shading, which imo should be the standard style for these games, it's like this mod was made for me! (Only downside is that the cel-shading kinda contrasts weirdly with the standard shading used in the rest of the game)
looks more like Sonic X anime cell shading rather than the SA style, I don't think it's possible to truly nail Yuji Uekawa's style in a dynamic 3D manner
If the entire game, shared that art style, maybe. It's too bright for the world around sonic. I can easily find a single soap2 or sonic riders outfit that isn't as bright, but this mod is the only mod that I know of with settings in it already, so that's the plus I guess.
