I've lurked on your channel for years now but have to THANK YOU for this affordable donabe find! Like you said, it's so tough to find good quality ones that aren't hundreds of dollars. As for what I do when feeling stuck, two things: free-hand journal every time I feel like my brain is too big for my head, and giving myself time to just be. Use journaling to take stock of the activities you enjoy, but not just the activities themselves, rather the vibes of what makes them enjoyable to you. Next time you're in a moment where you're really enjoying life, take a mental zoom out. What is it about this moment that fills your cup? Is it low-stakes creativity? Is it structured milestones for visible progress? Is it doing work in the company of others doing the same work? Etc. Good luck!

Long time subbie. Can you do a video on you? What’s your MTBI? Hopes and dreams? Lessons learned? Thoughts on love and relationships? Fertility if you are open to that. Any tips for people scared to fall in love? You aren’t much older than me but you’re like the cooler older sister I’ve never had.

I think taking classes and learning a new skill can help you pivot. I’m 41 and am also feeling like it’s time for a career change and that’s my plan to take a course, get a certificate in something new and apply for different opportunities. It may take a year or so but go at your own pace, and really believe that you CAN make new opportunities happen. Wishing you all the best Christine!!

first of all loved this video & now desperately want these ceramics, lol -- in such a similar career spot after pursuing acting for the last 9ish years and found myself approaching my thirties and the audition process is just not fun for me anymore; always been afraid to stop auditioning because actors (and really all artists/entrepreneurs) i think share a similar mentality that they need to constantly be producing or else they'll fall behind or lose momentum .. but recently, i've decided to truly take an indefinite pause. i'm not going to commit to filling that pause with anything in particular, i'm just trusting that the pause will naturally bring up thoughts/inspiration as time goes on. i think it's so important to take a beat and re-asses what is filling your cup and i've always admired your channel for how intentional your videos are. i believe the spark will come back when you allow yourself to take a real break. sending love!

Hello Christine! I did see that UO copied, or rather, they were inspired by your cute cowboy boot. Sigh!
Since you have been working with clay, which is using earth (Maka) in Indigenous-Native cultures. It's a sacred ritual to introduce tools, pottery, bowls, etc. for your abode. Look in nature for inspiration (desert, beach, woods, mountains, gardens, etc.) to guide you. Also, always incorporate a bit of your culture to honor your heritage and ancestors. Your Vietnamese culture is rich in beauty and history.
Hey, you are more indigenous than I am, making ceramics, working with clay. Lol 😂 I will work with clay one day. You are creatively talented and unique. May I suggest an idea? You and Jason each create a piece to gift one another, but you incorporate both your cultures together to reflect your bond, connection, and love. 💞

Lots of love Christine! I'm very much in the same position - I'm in too much of a rut to offer any advice, but in advance will be grateful for the comments that I am sure will follow yet another lovely video from you. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday x

Hi Christine! I’ve just gone through a burnout with my work too recently (which ended up leading me to ceramics). What really helped me was to take classes in something new, and also turning more towards interests that I liked as a child. I think that often childhood interests say a lot about what fulfills you or excites you in life. Also looking into books / documentaries, especially second hand books for inspiration in an area completely different from my main activity (such as architecture or something) and learning about other artists and their lives through documentaries really gave me more perspective on what I do. Or learning about other cultures and craft also is interesting sometimes. It seems like you’re on the right track, taking interest in other activities that you’ve delved into in the past, and maybe using your new found knowledge from ceramics into another craft such as photography. As well as taking care of your body, moving, and looking inward ❤ Maybe the universe is telling you something that you don’t see yet but that’s right in front of you to discover.

Also wanted to add that I’m in incredible admiration of everything you make. I’ve been following you for a very long time, I’ve loved watching you grow over the years and following your journey in all your endeavours. I love your approach to video making, and as a fellow ceramicist I’m also in awe of your skills with clay. The fact that you can so easily go from making donabes that size to realistic boots and sofas and toilet speakers is so mind boggling. UO can try to imitate you, but it will never have the energy that you’ve put into your ideas. (Also can we talk about how disappointing it is that UO has the nerve to imitate your work on such a large scale without your consent, when you’ve been a great supporter of their work in the past!).

THANK YOU for addressing the cowboy boot striker thing. I remember seeing an ad with it after watching you for years, and I was hoping maybe you had gotten credit somehow. Never shopping there again (not that I even shopped there much to begin with. I’d already heard that they did this kind of thing). Don’t worry. Like Rhianna and Chris Brown, I’m happy to be the “shittier” person and hate them for you.

as cliche as it might sound, i meditate and try and slow down and come back to simplicity so that it creates room in my heart for something beautiful to settle into it when that moment does come so that I don't miss it due to any internal clutter...

Interested to hear about your experience quitting alcohol. I stopped drinking when I became pregnant with my daughter two years ago. Honestly, I don’t miss it. I’ve had some pretty good non-alcoholic beers, though, so it might be worth trying if the places where you DJ stock them.

Thank you for sharing this. I am a graphic designer full time and have a small resin & jewelry etsy shop. For inspo I go to a lot of art stores, barnes and nobles to flip through magazines and independent unique shops. I also go to flea markets.

Traveling helps me whenever I’m stuck in a rut. I just came back from a trip from Marfa, TX and I feel so inspired by the small community there (and of course all the works of Donald Judd.) But It doesn’t have to be anywhere far, it could be even be in the same city you live in. Maybe house-swap with a friend for a month. I feel like a change in your surroundings always refreshes the perspective in one way or another.

Dear Christine, I have been watching your videos since many years ago. Although I rarely leave any comments, you are like a friend to me. Whenever I am upset, I will turn on your videos and listen to you talk in a calm tone.I hate any attempt to copy ideas, and I'm really disappointed to see UO doing this.I hope you continue to do what you enjoy at the moment, and I will silently support you as your distant friend.:)

hey Christine, what to do meaningful and inspiring when you are stuck - help disabled children!!! run small courses private or with the local schools with them. I teach horse riding to them, it's so rewarding. I can see your ceramics simple & creative classes with them being super successful. xx

If I was one of them new UO product interns I would have at least asked for a collaboration .. How do you feel if they mass-produced your work but you end up getting your cut?
Also I think it would be sick to see your process taking studio shots/portraits! If I remember correctly, a long time ago you had mentioned taking product shots for a clothing boutique at home and was always curious of what your set-up looked like.
Lately I have been reconnecting with old places I used to visit and thinking about my family ancestry/discovering new artists/photographers from an era I am not familiar with for inspo.. Feeding my curiosity somehow

12:07 they were your ideas and least Urban could do was reach out to you and offer a consulting fee to use your inspiration.
