I feel like letting your kids see the entire circle of life helps them grow and appreciate the value of life wether it’s human or not. Something that doesn’t seem too apparent in today’s society. Death is an unfortunate part of life but owning animals and having to bury a few as a kid after growing up with them is what made it easier to accept the death of family and friends. Still never gets easy but having a little experience helps a lot so you don’t crumble mentally when it matters. Much love and thank you for being an amazing father and husband

I love the dog sitting by the kids, he's like if you watches, I watches.... that baby had her best chance with you. All you can do is your best, which you did!
Best thing I’ve ever found to warm lambs up is wrap them in a blanket, put them in a box, close the box, and stick a hair dryer in it. It’s brought lambs back for almost death over the past 10 years. Found newborns in January in single digits almost frozen to the ground and brought them back. Once they start to blah take them out.
Watching these past few family oriented videos makes me appreciate how i've watched matt's kids grow up and feel like part of the family, even though i'm not.
Dr. Ish your pragmatism on life is moving. I have known several vets who are the same and it is a testament to your schooling and upbringing. No doubt your father is very proud of you.

The Dorper sheep, which that one appeared to be, make good pets as they tend to be friendly and do not require shearing. Like goats, they will keep brush and weeds down around the new place.

One good thing about moving - it's also a great time to organize and consolidate stuff, especially in the garage. And remember - getting rid of stuff doesn't mean sending it to the trash bin if someone else can use it. And RIP little lamb! :-(
We had a very similar issue with a calf once, same outcome. It was hard when I just couldn’t do anything about it. A sheep farmer once told me that sheep are the only animals on earth that are determined to die for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Matt - get a Pod and hire a company to get your barn packed. You literally have as much stuff in your barn as you have in your house. I'm sorry about the lamb.
I hope the kids realize you did all you could to give that poor lamb the most help and comfort you could as they passed on, and take that into their hearts as to how to treat fellow living beings who are suffering.
We've been raising sheep for the last year and a half, and last spring one of our ewes had stillborns. Poor girl cried for hours and hours, it was heartbreaking.
6 months ago when I lived in a large city, I would have found this to be something new, how to treat a large animal... Now i work in a cow farm in the middle of nowhere Norway with -30 C and this stuff is something I do on a daily basis 🤣 And yeah, the fact she was stiff was a tell-tell sign that she won't make it. It's sad, but happens from time to time
Good to see you put the effort in, one thing I would have tried is putting the blankets in the dryer to warm them up first. Also, putting the lamb and heater in a small room would have kept it warmer.

For your shop move, use a Pod container or some brand like it. You can put your shelves and rack and benches right in it. Then keep then at whichever property you like at the time.

Now is the time to sort and organize and liquidate all the stuff you dont need and or can free up! youll be AMAZED how much organizing and categorizing stuff can help and how much of a tighter area itll go in and how much easier itll be to find stuff

Paisano's Roost Farm (American Blackbelly sheep) in Southern New Mexico: if momma abandoned it, there is usually a good reason. I had a ram lamb twin in 2017 that was abandoned by mom. I bottlefed him and adopted him to a good home without a guarantee on his future health. A year later, his owners called to let me know he had the genetic fault for the horns growing into the neck. The ewe while she had perfect confirmation tended to throw problems : her first lamb, a ewe had breathing issues. When a Lamb put the head at the side as it did when you lifted her up, its sadly usually to late. Learning after I grown up at a large Lamb farm.

It acted like it had a neurological or muscular condition. It definitely wasn't healthy. Probably why it was abandoned
Never feed a cold Lamb. Always wait till its rewarmed.
