      @@callonthenameofjesus1459 Well that was 2 years ago now for me 😆 I found mine at a thrift shop and if my memory serves me correctly, I paid somewhere between $15 and $20 for it as well 😊 I used it quite a bit the first year of owning it. The coffee tasted delicious. However I moved away from using it because I get too distracted with my little kiddos and would forget to keep an eye on it, resulting in burned coffee. I still have it though! Maybe I should try again now that they're older

    Best to use an oven mit to remove the basket before pouring. Keep coffee grounds from pouring into your cup.

    I have a 9 cup corningware coffee maker that I use to make iced tea.
    I just put 8 tea bags in the basket and water up to the bottom of the basket and boil it.
    I do boil it for 10 mins though. I add a cup (6 oz) of sugar while it's hot.
    I take the basket out and add ice to top it off.
    It gets cool enough to pour it when the ice is melted.

    Follow these instructions to get the worst cup of coffee you’ve ever had. 15 minutes on medi/high will get you a cup of burned, boiled coffee. 9 cups uses 9 tablespoons in the basket. Put percolator on stove on highest heat. Observe carefully. As soon as it starts to perk turn it down to low or medium low. Lowest temp to maintain perking. Set a timer to 8-10 minutes. Turn off. Let basket drain for a minute or two. The person who made this video actually never made coffee in a Corningware coffee pot.

      Totally agree about the temperatures and removing the grounds basket! Will cut the maker of the video this , starting with cold fresh water the overall time is close to 15 minutes but as this poster remarks you must adjust the heat after the perking starts.😊

      I like my Pyrex 6 cup 'cause I can see the coffee perking & watch it drip through the basket and into the water . Then I set my timer for 7:30, turn down the heat, & watch it do its thing... I can't see it happen with the Corning; But it's pretty much the same thing to follow, Right? - (Help !)

      I accidentally threw out my basket lid and use small paper filters. I fold it up 4x and cut small slits around it and a small hole in the center. Then I dampen the filter and push it down to the coffee grounds and make sure it adheres to the side if the basket. That's my new lid and it works fine. A few grounds but not too many, nothing a handheld strainder won't fix. 😊

    I got given one of these years ago , and I never used it, as I had a one cup Bialetti, and I was the only coffee oficianado in the house 😏
    But I just used it first time today , hence why im here 😁.
    Amd i can honestly say it seems to mellow the coffee more.
    The Bialetti is a sealed two chamber and gives a single pressure forced percolation , which results in more "bite".
    This isn't sealed between chambers , so it percolates round .
    Im keen to know if percolation time changes taste or strength of coffee?
    And thanks for uploading this ...I really had no time parameters in which to allow it to percolate for.
    🤗

    • @homeandwhere6180
      @homeandwhere6180  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thankyou so much for watching my video , and I am so glad it helped.
      As far as changing the taste, in my opinion the longer its left to perculate the more of a "burnt" flavor it gets. At least that is how it tastes to me. I prefer to get it off the burner after almost a minute of it perculating and the color change is in the water.

    • @bunkyman8097
      @bunkyman8097 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Booboo Snafu,
      The longer the coffee perks, the stronger it will be.
      I have been using a Pyrex flameware percolator for 20 years and have found the best coffee never boils. Boiling it scortches the coffee giving it a burned taste. Once the perking starts, turn the heat as low as you can with the action still going. You'll be surprised how low you can go. Never let it boil. That's easy to see for me in a glass pot. I start timing it when the water starts changing color. Everything I've read says to perk 1 min/cup but that's all up to your taste. Also, if steam is pouring out of the spout, its probably too hot. Optimally you want it just under boilng. It takes practice to find the sweet spot with your pot, stove and perk time but once you find it, the BEST coffee is yours, as I'm sure you know!
