    Just finished putting my 40hp Backwater through its first Arkansas duck season. Had my boat beached on sand bars in the Arkansas river and sitting flat on the mud in 2in of water and the Backwater performed flawlessly. Never once had to get out and push the boat. It's on a 1650 XPress Jon boat with a high transom and runs 24-28 depending on the load. Would highly recommend Backwater to anyone looking for a solid mud motor. I researched longtails for a year or so before going with Backwater and I have no regrets.

    Great video Frank. I just ordered mine a few days ago. I’m excited to go from a 23hp Surface Drive to the Swomp 40. I plan to make some videos on my channel. I Hope you make more videos of your Backwater...

    I just bought a 1752 weldbilt semi V with a 50hp outboard. Now I'm looking at a long tail to go shallow. For the marsh to duck hunt. Not worried about speed. But can that motor push your 17 in less than a foot of water with 3 guys and gear? What's the weight of the motor?

    • @fracabby
      @fracabby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It absolutely can. 225lbs.

    not bad on that size hull , im curious what a hunting load with a couple extra people will do for it

      mudmotordave Franklin I had 5 guys, backpack sprayers, 40 gallons of chemical, etc. And we were still running over 20 mph. This is a very impressive rig!

    Is this rig for hunting only? Didn’t see a trolling motor and you mentioned duck hunting and nothing about fishing. Like your video and was wondering what in appearance was an oversized lawnmower was on a boat. Your comical comment about being two people was 😄

    How is the handling, specifically for tighter turns? Gotta muscle it?

    Frankie how do you astern the boat and does it have a reverse gear

    • @fracabby
      @fracabby  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no reverse.

  • @clayton203

    And when you got it,,was it already put together,,just add oil and gas

  • @rileyrader1982
    @rileyrader1982 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you do anything special to break the motor in when you first started running it?

    • @fracabby
      @fracabby  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Fill it with T4 Rotella and 93 octane non-ethanol fuel if it’s available to you. Do the break-in oil change at 5-10 hours then change the oil and adjust the valves every 50 hours or so. That may be overkill but oil and filters are relatively cheap compared to a new motor.

    I know that the frame is great, but if u wanted a added + on the steering, go get a 6" circle cut out of some 1/8 teflon with a 1" hole in the center and sandwich it between the frame and the yoke that bolts to the bell housing. Yes you will need to remove the lockdown on the transom bracket but a great improvement and tradeoff imo

    • @fracabby

      I'm not sure I get what you're saying.

    • @cdp50359

      were the 2 plates slide on each other for the left and right movement. put a piece of Teflon between the 2 plates.

    I have never owned one that Motors been thinking about getting one of them I have a 14ft river Lowe's Jon Boat what do you suggest the size I should go with I only run in rivers

    • @fracabby
      @fracabby  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      MADDOG 45 AUTO Depending on the width of your boat, I'd run a 13hp single cylinder if your boat is narrower or step up to a 23hp if your boat is wider.

    • @fracabby

      dirty south out door I have owned one. I would definitely go with the 23 Lite instead of the classic. The Lite is faster, better handling, and smoother running. And it is just as strong as the classic frame.

    • @fracabby

      I love the boat. Smooth boat except for one single rib down the middle to help with turning. Wide open layout. Longitudinal bracing to help prevent hooking. Non-skid liner throughout the entire interior. I like it better than my War Eagle.
