I don’t think there's a solid line where "old Roblox" becomes "new Roblox". 2006 is to 2015 what 2015 is to 2024. And 2020 is already noticeably different from how Roblox currently is, but I don’t think anyone would call it old. I think most people refer to old Roblox as an era instead of a constantly changing time period relative to the present day. 2016 is definitely not modern, though.

This was because both websites at the time were very identical in layout and likely was a parallel conversion to phase in the new website style. This was before roblox+ because R+ only allowed OBC theme as a toggle or the easter theme (for it's fan-made egg hunt which was just the 2015 website theme but with eggs on the banners).

I just thought it would be fun to add in my own memories from the times I have played since I joined here and some things I thought would be worth noting. Also sorry if this is a long one, I am just very passionate about this topic after watching the video lol. So when I joined, I like to think it was a sort of "transition period" for Roblox games. You still had many games in that old blocky style look but you also had games that looked a lot more polished, a lot more similar to games that you might see today on the site. I remember some of the most dominant games in that era were classics like Work at a Pizza Place, Natural Disaster Survival, Flood Escape, and the original Roblox High School, but some of the most prevalent games that I would see are Tycoon games, Stamper tool games where 8 or 9 players each had a baseplate to build on with stamper tool stuff, and "hangout" games where you just roleplay or whatever. Throughout the years I noticed various trends in games come and go as certain games became popular, clones followed, etc... The Area 51 games in particular were everywhere. I remember seeing them from 2016-2018 a lot and they still persist further. It is just that same map with an underground base full of various monsters. I remember trying to figure out where I was supposed to go and just giving up because it seemed there was no objective. Another trend I saw specifically start around 2018 was simulator games. This originally started I think with games like Pet Simulator and Treasure Hunting Simulator, but later expanded to include 100s of games of notable popularity. The latest big trend I can remember were "Story games" and Piggy clones. Story games followed after the success of the game "Camping" and Piggy clones of course after the game Piggy. I wish I could find this simple little game but it seems to no longer exist) "Fairy Frenzy" (Another game that I cannot confirm still exists, you adopt an NPC fairy baby and raise it through teens to adulthood) "Zombie Defense Tycoon?" (third game I cannot confirm still exists, you and around 7 other players build up a base and shoot zombies that spawn in the middle, there is a lava cave I think with extra hard zombies inside) There were some things that I thought were important enough to note adding in the video. First of all, Ads. Roblox used to show 30 second video ads before you got into a game. I remember vividly seeing an ad play for the Nickelodeon show "Game Shakers", but I also remember a bunch of other various ads playing. Also, I mentioned it a bit before but I think the old Pokemon games were worth mentioning. Some of these include "Pokemon Legends", "Pokemon Adventure", "Pokemon Reborn", and "Pokemon Advance". These were insanely popular on Roblox and it caused many people to get upset when they were taken down by Nintendo. Another one I would like to mention is the "Town of Robloxia". These were old roleplay games where you had a town and just sort of worked jobs in it, sort of a precursor to games like Rocitizens and Bloxburg. back in the day, there were people who exploited the games and would scare kids by making their avatar appear as "1x1x1" or "john doe", knowing these kids already know about these myths and making almost a real "herobrine" experience for kids.
source: it literally happened to me when i was probably 7, and i was scared sh*tless. before roblox actually implemented a competent anticheat, exploiters could do just about anything in any public server and in retrospect it's pretty funny

As a person who started roblox just over 10 years ago, I can say that people like to sugarcoat old roblox. Making it seem like it was this wonderland full of innocence when it just their memories of being a kid
Online dating on the platform back then was more prevalent and it was only until youtubers like greenlegocats123 that people started to hold a stance against such people.
exploiters had more power back then compared to now where exploiting has pretty much died, exploiters back then could cover servers in not safe for work decals and use admin commands to flip an entire map over

There was an exploit found in 2008 that made ROBLOXian heads rain from the sky and then text that said: "1x1x1x1x1 is coming!". MrDoomBringer said it was patched then, but there's a video from the early-mid 2010s with an exploiter in Natural Disaster Survival doing that very same exploit MrDoomBringer said they had patched years ago.
