To create cylinders it would be better if you use revolving method manually instead of solid primitives. This way we'll make sure cylinders axes are perpendicular.
If the goal is a design intent model, I would agree with you. However, the point of this exercise is to learn how to use solid primitives, which can be very handy in a variety of applications.
