    Another great video. I can't wait for Part 2. My biggest beef with the TSP (along with the pro rata withdrawal structure) is that every time you set up a withdrawal from the TSP you need to get your spouses signature notarized. Is that true in an IRA? What a headache.

      As long as you own the IRA account then you don't need your spouse's signature.

    Hi, first off thank you so much for all the information you have provided. So my question is if you do not get a match, since I join the military in 2009, there is no matching for me, what will work for me?

    Is there a way to contribute the remainder of your annual contribution if you didn't meet the maximum during the calendar year?

    • @PlanYourFederalBenefits
      @PlanYourFederalBenefits 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can contribute more at the end of the year as long as you don't go over the yearly limits.

    If you roll your traditional IRA into your TSP, does that affect your annual contribution limit?

    I have a question, hopefully you can answer. I’m retiring soon, age 58. I want to take a monthly payment from my TSP as additional income. Can I set the amount I want or does TSP set it? Also, should I go over to an annuity for this or just go thru TSP for the monthly payment? Thanks

      Great question, you can set the amount that you want from TSP and this is often much better than an annuity option.

    Thank you for doing these types of videos! This has helped me to understand the TSP and what options are available so I can attempt to educate my dad on them. He's close to retirement so the timing couldn't be better! Looking forward to the Roth video next!!!

    is there any reason why you shouldnt roll your roth tsp over prior to 72 to avoid mrd?

    • @PlanYourFederalBenefits
      @PlanYourFederalBenefits 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not really except for some of the main differences between the TSP an IRA but it probably makes sense in most cases especially if you don't want to be subject to RMD's.
