I was on patrol in Baghdad when Bush 2 dodged the shoe. It came in over the radio to go to high alert, my TC asked why, and we were told, "Someone threw a shoe at President Bush." My TC then asked what happened, and we were told, "He juked it." The Iraqis thought it was hilarious too, and they respected GB 2's dodging ability, so it ended up being a pretty chill patrol.
Before surfers co-opted the word, dude meant a fancified city slicker out of place in the rough and tumble old west, hence a "dude ranch" where tenderfoot city boys would be gently and condescendingly guided through work on a ranch so they could brag to their mates back East that they were real cowboys. A fashion twit.
