lol @ people saying zer0 is underpowered. just because his ability requires you to do actual work yourself doesn't make him bad. the invisibility is FANTASTIC to run away and reload while invisible, spot your enemies highlighted blue, and take them out with one bonus-damage critical sniper rifle headshot. it also recharged super quick and his melee range + damage is incredible at later levels. axton, maya, and gaige definitely have better abilities but zero0's is nowhere close to bad. i did my first playthrough solo with him and had no problems at all. just use some strategy and put your skill points in the right stuff that'll help you get through the game alone and you'll rock it like a hurricane.

This is one of those games that sucks in the first 5 hours which will turn a lot of peoples off (I was turned off) but after 10 hours, it gets a whole lot better. Claptrap, that annoying little robot, has this one absolutely pointless side quest in terms of gameplay after like 10 hours in. But in terms of story, holy crap it was some of the saddest. It doesn't tell you how much better or worse it is. Also, stats alone don't tell you enough, unless the guns being compared are two variants of the exact same base gun. manufacturer, level, color, and modifiers make such a huge difference. That purple he sold seemed bad because of the numbers, but who knows how it would have performed in practice.
berin99 true but like 60% of the time guns aren't different at all and numbers are valid reasons to switch but for example if you find an etech dart gun that's fully better than your shitty little dahl pistol...then obviously its not better in any way because dart guns fucking suck...
I mostly like your first impressions but this one. Wow. You really have to be in these kind of games and you seem not to be as much in it. I think it developed amazingly in comparison to borderlands 1. Loot System was improved, UI and HUD were improved and the whole Story is better. There were a few things that disagreed about you're review where others I completely agreed on. First off, the skills aren't interesting? In Borderlands 1, I had more skill points then I wanted. In Borderlands 2, every single skill I get, I know exactly where to put it considering the build I'm working on. I will admit, Axton's skills felt rather bland but what felt bland about them was how balanced they became. Throughout all playthroughs, Axton stayed pretty much the same through all playthroughs considering he didn't have to many game changers besides slag turrets which is AWESOME in True Vault Hunter Mode and Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. Other characters had major game changers and skills that could be INSANELY buffed such as Salvadors Moneyshot and Zero's melee capstone skill. Second, the game is the same as Borderlands 1? Thats the same thing as saying it's the same as a game such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc. This game improved on many aspects such as the UI. In Borderlands 1, it was buggy, cluttered. In Borderlands 2, it is much smoother although navigating through it is much easier on console. Yes, it is like Borderlands 1 but thats heaping it into the FPS genre and saying its the same as other FPS games. Also the shooting in it is also MUCH better. The gun sounds in Borderlands 1 felt rather drab, boring. In Borderlands 2 there are a clutter of different sounds and effects the guns do. Ever used a Double Unkept Harold or a Flakker? Guns in Borderlands 2 have a much different variety then Borderlands 1. What I do agree with you though is the tutorial. Borderlands 1 tutorial was shorter but the beginning also felt incredibly slow. Things only started to pick up at the level 15-20 mark. In Borderlands 2, the tutorial was also just as slow. It's what prevented me from starting a new game by myself. Also being co-op oriented is pretty true. In True Vault Hunter Mode and Ultimate Vault Hunter, co-op is required unless you're properly specced, properly geared, etc. However, I've had characters I've completely leveled all the way through the playthroughs without any help. Then again, this is just me making an opinion on you're video. Like the gameplay though, interesting you got some Legendary's that soon though!
Can't fault TB for his early criticisms, because a lot of them are proved inaccurate much later in the game (except Phasewalk was amazingly Overpowered in the original, even though he said it sucks, mainly because I think he was using it wrong, you were suppose to use it as an escape and full heal instead of a stealth into combat): i.e. Zer0 being underpowered and Maya being overpowered (the opposite on both is true) and the passive skills not having an impact and being boring while they actually provide a great level of balance late game. When properly configured they can make you unstoppable without having to worry about multiple action skills with just a pure focus on combat (i.e. lvl 72 Gunzerker). Although this is probably just a Borderlands vet being picky considering I've logged 400+ on 2 and well more than that on the original... (Also, adding maximum grenades is really really great... try throwing 10 Bouncing Bonny's at once and try to honestly tell me you've seen something better in an FPS... :P)
I disagree with a lot of what Totalbiscuit said. This is my personal favorite game of all time. I have over 500 hours on it and i loved almost every second. Best class is hands down the Siren in terms overall usefulness. And i have lvl 72 Siren, Mechro, Psycho, and Zer0. On lvl 27 of the Commando so far and he is pretty much as boring as i thought he would be.
The only issue I consistently run into is that the menu freaks out occasionally if you mousewheel through your inventory. Also I really appreciated the reload speed. Did a One Shot Sniper Zero character, amazing.
I have a question that some people might be able to answer. Is it worth finding random players to play the story with, with the "Find Games" button? Let me explain.. I haven't beaten the story. I haven't even come close. I'm also not that great at the game. I don't know where everything is, or where the secret hidden stuff is. I don't know what guns are best right off hand, it'll take me a second to pick one. I'm not the fastest at the game..I like to take my time and look around. If I played, I'd probably want to start a new story with a new character, and go from there. So..what I'm wondering.. Is would it be worth playing with random players through the "find games" option? My guess with how it would go, is that I'd get in with some people, and they'd rush ahead, stealing all the good items, and completing things, while I'm still 10 miles back taking my time looking around. I also don't know if there's a way to start a new story specifically that way, or if playing with a new character would be worth it, since other people might have their high level characters already. On a different topic.. I agree that the first part of the game is boring, annoying, and the replay value on it is stupid. They put a large focus on playing the game multiple times by having new game plus and stuff..allowing multiple characters, and whatever else, but then they make the first 2 hours of the game boring as hell, so you almost don't WANT to start a new story. I'm the kind of person that'll start new games almost constantly. Not because I want to, but because I'll play for a bit..take a break, then forget what I was doing in the game, so I'll start over in order to replay what I forgot.. But the intro is just..SO boring. As far as Claptrap goes.. I actually enjoyed him the first time. Every time after that was annoying as hell. For the passive skills. I don't mind passive skills honestly. I like plus number reload speed and stuff. But I agree the skills in BL2 are a bit boring. I'd like to have seen some bigger boosts to the passive skills. Rather than like plus 1 grenade, make it plus 3 or 4 grenades. Give me a reason to really want that upgrade As for the boss. One thing you have to take note of in Borderlands 2(not sure about 1), is that if you run away, the enemies tend to leave you alone. Like, they don't want to leave their area. So if you're getting killed easily, just back up until the red dot disappears, and snipe him. Or rush back in get a few shots and back up. That one boss was easy as hell for me doing that.
You could also go on a skype call with one of your friends and play the game if you are afraid of them taking loot or just going too fast. Or just play with a steam friend.
The game also gets a little harder with more players. Guys are tougher, and they come in greater numbers. I played both solo and with a friend, so yeah, I had time to compare and figure it all out. The ending is fabulous. Find some honest people that won't steal all of the loot, or play with some friends, and you'll have a good time.
Dang, i know theres some improvements and i like some parts but i have problems finishing the game, 4 years in the making, the last time i tried to finish it I ended it in the same spot and meh... it doesn't pull me, few weeks ago i started it all because i didnt had the save, but this time went further in, but dont know why , since i forgot spending some points and tokens, the game is easier, and the main antagonist is kinda average. And TB, rest in piece man, hope now your metal emperor days in the 40k universe be Glorious.
The Flame of the Firehawk is a Legendary Nova Shield manufactured by Maliwan. The Flame of the Firehawk is obtained from the mission Cult Following: The Enkindling located in Frostburn Canyon. And you were saying?
completely accurate review. I tried to play it years ago on xbox 360, but couldn't get through the first hour. I found it unbearably annoying and tedious.. However, just yesterday got it for ps4, and played it for two days non stop. I suppose I've lowered my standards for games, but I really wanted a lengthy and atmospheric machine gun experience. Im overwhelmingly glad that I tried it again. All the giant insects, and monsters, robots, and miscreants to shoot provide such a variety. My major complaint is that it is obnoxious. Midgets and Dwarves are not the kind of people to be used as cannon fodder as some part of a lame sick joke to market multimedia product to teenagers. Thats their angle on this franchise, is to gear it towards teens... still great machine gunning, but in ten years it will probably be viewed back upon as quasi-rascist, for its use of midgets.
no bro its just that no other game is reaching that level of machine gunning, btw i'm sickly tired of division 2 the endgame is lackluster at best, when bl2 first came out,I thought it was a good game not something ground breaking or fantabulous, now after such atrocious games such as destiny, anthem etc,i just want a good game, from my perspective they are doing everything right with bl3 and i'm hyped about it,though we need to be cautious as game dev'd companies aren't our friends.also RIP totalbiscuit.feelsbadman.
A lot of people just don't know how to use Zer0. I tend to compare him more to Lilith than Mordecai, btw. The active skill is really similar, so if you played the Siren in the first chapter it won't feel that impossible to play Zer0 in the second one.
I got border lands 2 in a Walmart bundle which game with Spec ops the line, border lands 2 and mafia 2 and it only costed $20 (USD). Haven't played any of the those games besides from border lands 2 but I can already say its definitely already payed me back in full for the great variant in weapons and side missions. I'd say if you liked any of the elder scrolls games then it will definitely amuse you. I also kind of like clap trap, I've definitely seen worse characters to baby sit and follow around.
Really, I loved this game and is my favorite game next to far cry 3, and trust me, the more you play it, the better it gets, and when borderlands 3 comes out or is confirmed, I am going to go fucking insane out of happiness, and doing playthroughs with other players is soooo much fun. And the comedy of the game at some times is amazing and claptrap is one of my favorite characters, he is supposed to be annoying for comedical reasons. Give the game some time
@@BigWheel. 9 years later, I can say the story of BL3 was a let-down but the gameplay loop is satisfying and dynamic, especially in the end-game. BL2 suffered from build optimization, where fewer and fewer playstyles were viable as UVHM and OP came out. BL3 doesn’t have that problem, at least to the same extent. All classes are viable even at Mayhem 10 if you dip your toes in the meta a little. I personally prefer Mayhem to OP for late-game progression, since it forces you to use all of the elemental damage in your arsenal. Thanks for taking me back to this comment, I was like 12 when I wrote it lol
I really didn't care for the first Borderlands but I LOVE Borderlands 2. What won me over was a much more interesting story, great voice acting, fa nominal writing, and amazing characters.
Really bad review. Normally I like your wtf videos but this one is terrible. You were doing a quest which is meant for level 6 and you were level 12 with a legendary? Complaining about comparing weapons because you have to look at a different part of the screen. What? Complaining about difficulty because you haven't learned how to deal with enemies with shields yet? Also I love claptrap and the 1st time I did the opening 2hours I found it very entertaining.
It's not problem. What charateris best is dependent on your personal style. Spray and pray: gunzerker Elemental: siren Sniping: assassin All arounder: commando
First time I've actually disagreed with you on a game, shockingly. When you're in the heat of battle, that "+2% to reload speed" can save your life. Get it beefed up a bit, it goes across all characters on your profile, and with other perks you can end up +30% reload speed. This makes for SMG reloads to be almost instant if they had something like a bullpup clip. It's downright madness. But I will agree claptrap is an annoying hotdog that if I played on PC I'd remove or mute his audio files.
My friends hate on this game. They talk shit about the graphics, yet they play Minecraft. Now Minecraft is a good game, don't get me wrong, but if you play Minecraft as a main source of entertainment, any argument you make about sub-par graphics of another game should be invalidated by the fact that you play Minecraft regularly.
That's what she's known for, they all have their different purpose, but she is definitely the best one for clumping all the enemies together...and healing friendlies!
You've got nice taste in rifles, the fire element is the most helpful in the early game, the vladof barrel boosts rate of fire, and maliwan weapons have great accuracy, which synchs with the sniper rifles inherent focus on crits.
If he's complaining about boring skills, the commando isn't helping the game's case. Other classes like the psycho (yes I know that wasn't out when this was filmed) have really interesting skills
I found the tutorial part of the game to be perfect fro someone like me who has not played this kind of a FPS rpg type of game before. It went by pretty damn fast.
RIP. Its 2022 and your still missed. (I wish youtube would stop making me change my memorial comment every 20ish videos or so. when did they implement this new annoyance?)
Loved me some Fallout New Vegas. Second fave game ever behind City of Heroes. (R.I.P.) but yeah, I agree with JM Mitchell. While FONV and BL2 share a dystopic, everybody-is-dumb-and-panicky setting, they are very different. Fallout New Vegas is slow, relaxing and meditative where Borderlands appeals to your inner frenetic, freak-hoarder, pack rat.
"The Shredifier is a legendary assault rifle manufactured by Vladof. The Shredifier is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source and does not have an increased drop rate from any specific enemy." - borderlands wikia com This thing can be dropped by everything, so i guess he was just lucky :)
so basically, every game sucks... in the view of TB. There are only bad components in every game, because TB seems to dislike every game for some minor problem. "if you don't enjoy the original Borderland game, then you probably won't enjoy this one...they are pretty much the same game", that's why it is called Borderland 2, it's the same game with new components and story. What exactly are you looking for? An Italian plummer smashing mushrooms? And tbh i watched quite a few of your videos, they are almost all about negative focus on the games. Pretty much every in-depth review are just first impression, you judged the game by the first one or two hours of the game, then you make a video saying what is bad and what isn't good enough. You know sometime you would affect some gamers to get the game or not, which they might miss out the joy brought by those amazing games. Or you should finish the game and THEN do a review, because some of your statements are just what we call 'noob' statements. As a reviewer, you should really focus on both side of good and bad, not just bad. Because all i see is you stomping on the hard works those producers had made, and starting moaning about the game just because the game style and mechanic are not going your favorite way.
"Most of these skills aren't interesting at all"- that could be because you are playing as Axton. Skill investment can have great outcomes on the way you play, so long as you do it right.
Borderlands 2 is fun as hell, but my main issue with it is the skills. Why on earth did they take out the really useful customizable skills for the turret, like regenerating health or ammo for the whole party? It made the Soldier class feel like an actual support class and make it stand out, whereas now they're more or less the same in terms of usefulness.
Any loot, legendary or not, has a chance to drop from any enemy, chest, or Bullymong pile. Granted, it's much much lower than the actual source it's supposed to drop from, but I've seen people get Infinity pistols out of Bullymong piles (where they belong).
Honestly, for BL3 i would love to see some Gun Customization, where you can take parts off of guns, and apply them to new guns that you get later on. it would give us an actual use for the Vault in Sanctuary, and something new to add to the gameplay.
you work up to the good skills you want... the nuke? Killing multiple people while invisible? Setting everyone on fire with a phaselock? Healing and regaining ammo with gunzerking? And even Deathtrap the robot!
krieg the psyco changes combat so much because if you're not aggressive and dont do damage with him you die alot and when you die you light a stick of dynamite and run at people
sleep well, old friend

It was literally a lvl 7 shredifier too. But yeah i have no idea how that happened. Heh

I've spent hours farming a Shredifier from Hyperius and he has one at the beginning of his game? Im done. Good bye. :l
***** I think he used a code or something. The shredifier is WAY TOO RARE (even from farming pyro pete) to get it on a random drop.
Who cares? It's very low level, it won't last him long.

Give me a reason to really want that upgrade
As for the boss.
Most of the time for me I just play Multiplayer for that extra support from Teammates this game was made to be played with other people mainly friends
It's easy complaining about the passives as a lvl 12 commando, late-game those passives save your life
completely accurate review.
@@aniruddhadas1011 just wait for the next Bioshock... and go back and play Half Life 2 again.
all ps4 xbox one fps games have been complete garbage.
@@iskthedijify yeah but bioshock isnt coming anytime soon,so i am going to play bl3 but lets see
I wish you could of seen 3 and all the docs. And tiny tinas wonderlands
"An insult to anyone with a functioning cerebellum"
This is why I love TB
I won’t lie, I preferred 2 over 1.
A lot of people just don't know how to use Zer0. I tend to compare him more to Lilith than Mordecai, btw. The active skill is really similar, so if you played the Siren in the first chapter it won't feel that impossible to play Zer0 in the second one.
So much nostalgia
My first playthrough and second playthrough was with the Gaige and she pretty damm good class, one of my favorite...
My first TB video. :3
Is borderlands 2 open world my friend said it's not
its semi open world, you can go anywhere you want, its not a sandbox tho
I got border lands 2 in a Walmart bundle which game with Spec ops the line, border lands 2 and mafia 2 and it only costed $20 (USD). Haven't played any of the those games besides from border lands 2 but I can already say its definitely already payed me back in full for the great variant in weapons and side missions. I'd say if you liked any of the elder scrolls games then it will definitely amuse you. I also kind of like clap trap, I've definitely seen worse characters to baby sit and follow around.
Surprisingly Spec Ops is pretty fantastic as well
ClapTrap is one anoying bitch, im level 45 now on my 4th playthrough and i hate him now.
Love you man. Thanks for making game commentary the best. You are missed. watching this in 2024 thinking about you
Really, I loved this game and is my favorite game next to far cry 3, and trust me, the more you play it, the better it gets, and when borderlands 3 comes out or is confirmed, I am going to go fucking insane out of happiness, and doing playthroughs with other players is soooo much fun. And the comedy of the game at some times is amazing and claptrap is one of my favorite characters, he is supposed to be annoying for comedical reasons. Give the game some time
How did you feel about bl3? I was kinda let down, I loved BL2.
I. Love. Claptrap.
RIP :(
It's not problem. What charateris best is dependent on your personal style.
Spray and pray: gunzerker
Elemental: siren
Sniping: assassin
All arounder: commando
First time I've actually disagreed with you on a game, shockingly. When you're in the heat of battle, that "+2% to reload speed" can save your life. Get it beefed up a bit, it goes across all characters on your profile, and with other perks you can end up +30% reload speed. This makes for SMG reloads to be almost instant if they had something like a bullpup clip. It's downright madness. But I will agree claptrap is an annoying hotdog that if I played on PC I'd remove or mute his audio files.
My friends hate on this game. They talk shit about the graphics, yet they play Minecraft. Now Minecraft is a good game, don't get me wrong, but if you play Minecraft as a main source of entertainment, any argument you make about sub-par graphics of another game should be invalidated by the fact that you play Minecraft regularly.
not sure about the other classes, but siren's skill when upgraded is deadly mob control
That's what she's known for, they all have their different purpose, but she is definitely the best one for clumping all the enemies together...and healing friendlies!
Claptrap is funny
0_0
That's all you have to say about this game?
HAHAHAHA oh thats funny
RIP
he should have played more of the game like a good 20 hours or so, then he should have done a WTF is......
I like clap trap....
"You have to look all the way down at the bottom right hand side to compare the guns". Dun dun Dunn!? Such a hardship.
You've got nice taste in rifles, the fire element is the most helpful in the early game, the vladof barrel boosts rate of fire, and maliwan weapons have great accuracy, which synchs with the sniper rifles inherent focus on crits.
too bad fire elemental is useless later on
RIP,
I love Borderlands 2! It's the best fps ever!
If he's complaining about boring skills, the commando isn't helping the game's case. Other classes like the psycho (yes I know that wasn't out when this was filmed) have really interesting skills
Rip
2014. Still one of, if not, my favourite games of all time. Ignore this video, it was one of the worse ones from TB. Go buy this now.
TB is one lucky SOB. That assault rifle is called the Shredifier. It's one of the rarest legendary weapons in the game.
I found the tutorial part of the game to be perfect fro someone like me who has not played this kind of a FPS rpg type of game before. It went by pretty damn fast.
First thing I noticed level 12 w/ a legendary. Lucky.
RIP. Its 2022 and your still missed. (I wish youtube would stop making
me change my memorial comment every 20ish videos or so. when did they
implement this new annoyance?)
I thought fallout NV was 10x better than borderlands 2
I totally agree
I don't think they should b compared. They are vary diffrent games and both vary good in my opinion.
Well... Fallout: NV was good, but somehow I never could get over that ''it look like a Fallout 3 exoansion'' feeling.
Loved me some Fallout New Vegas. Second fave game ever behind City of Heroes. (R.I.P.) but yeah, I agree with JM Mitchell. While FONV and BL2 share a dystopic, everybody-is-dumb-and-panicky setting, they are very different. Fallout New Vegas is slow, relaxing and meditative where Borderlands appeals to your inner frenetic, freak-hoarder, pack rat.
this is why i hate first impressions...
"The Shredifier is a legendary assault rifle manufactured by Vladof. The Shredifier is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source and does not have an increased drop rate from any specific enemy."
- borderlands wikia com
This thing can be dropped by everything, so i guess he was just lucky :)
This game was a boring waste of time...
why?
@@aniruddhadas1011 it just was, i played it and formed this opinion, it's how it's done!
so basically, every game sucks... in the view of TB.
You do realize that his TH-cam username is
TotalBiscuit, The Cynical Brit, right?
I got an Orange Sniper Rifle for my first Orange Weapon. It was a Corrosive Sniper that 7 levels later is still ripping EVERYTHING to shreds,
I like how he thinks hes a massive pro and he is using the worst character by far
The passive skills DOES effect the active skills by granting more abilities such as the turret having a projectile proof barrier
Just a quick note, the Bandit manufacturer is actually pretty much S&S from number one, except I find Bandit weapons more fun.
"Most of these skills aren't interesting at all"- that could be because you are playing as Axton.
Skill investment can have great outcomes on the way you play, so long as you do it right.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Skyrim, Dishonored, Half Life 1 and 2, Bastion, Fallout New Vegas Assassin Creed Series, Far Cry 3, the list goes on
RIP TB
Glad he got a Shreddifier that early at least.
This game still rocks. Or "slaps" if you're a young one.
I love this game better than borderlands 4 . And Tiny Tina's wonderlands
It's not about the usefulness of the gun itself, it's that the gun is extremely rare and nobody even knows which boss drops this gun as far as I know.
tell you the truth when i found out that claptrap would still be alive you wouldn't believe how big my smile was
Honestly, for BL3 i would love to see some Gun Customization, where you can take parts off of guns, and apply them to new guns that you get later on. it would give us an actual use for the Vault in Sanctuary, and something new to add to the gameplay.
you work up to the good skills you want... the nuke? Killing multiple people while invisible? Setting everyone on fire with a phaselock? Healing and regaining ammo with gunzerking? And even Deathtrap the robot!
How did he get a Shredifier at level 12?! Not only did he get a legendary so early, he got an incredibly rare legendary.
Does anybody know what resolution he is playing at? His hud is so small.
I believe he may have just scaled the hud down in the options menu
That's what I just said except the Shredifier doesn't have a higher chance to drop from anything so you have to get it from raid bosses.
krieg the psyco changes combat so much because if you're not aggressive and dont do damage with him you die alot and when you die you light a stick of dynamite and run at people
"Duke Nukem" *suck air through teeth*
If only TB had a crystal ball and could have foreseen the disaster that became Aliens: Colonial Marines, too.
I got my first oranges at lvl 13 because i joined a matchmaking game where the slot machines were hacked to always give out oranges.
